Participant== I have made copies of your theme’s header.php, sidebar.php and footer.php and rename them to header-buddypress.php, sidebar-buddypress.php, and footer-buddypress.php. ==
@nnyorker that was not exactly what was in the instructions. To get this going, open up your theme’s (not our theme) header.php and copy all code, then paste it in pastebin.com. Click submit and post the generated URI here. Do the same for your theme’s index.php, page.php, sidebar.php and footer.php

ParticipantMy mistake, this is the default behavior of WordPress/Buddypress. What I’m trying to do is apply this same effect to bp-disable-activation, which should be easy, I think.

Participant@PJ – not sure why the function isn’t working for you — have you got the field name correct?
Paste your code in this thread, and someone might be able to spot what you are doing wrong.

Participant@modemlooper – the new function I’ve given handles array data types, so you don’t have to write any of your own conditional code to catch and process array types.
You should switch your code to use bp_member_profile_data()

Moderator@themoju, it seems you are using a custom theme there – is it a child of BuddyPress default or are you using the template pack? As a check if you can I’d suggest putting on the default theme for BuddyPress to check if uploads work – that way you can then know if it is your theme.

I’ve just solved the problem. It’s working but don’t ask how.

Have you already found the solution to your BP Stalker plugin (see further on wordpress.org)?

July 29, 2012 at 11:24 am #138137In reply to: How do I replace website text with images?
Roger Coathup
ParticipantYou can replace text with images in your CSS files.
There are a variety of techniques you can use. It’s not really a BuddyPress question, and you’d be better looking them up in a guide to CSS, or on some CSS specific forums.
Try googling ‘CSS image replacement’ as a starting point.

ModeratorRename your plugins folder to force deactivate plugins. Put the folder name back to plugins after you visit your admin. Then activate BuddyPress alone. If it works ok then test each plugin one by one to find the one that is breaking your site.

Participantthis may be due to the fact that it’s not finding your url so my best suggestion to you is to type in whatever your site name is like http://www.myarket.com and add this /admin at the end of it like this: http://www.myarket.com/wp-admin/ this should take you to the back end of wp so there you can either uninstall bp 1.57 or install plugin called 301 redirect so that you can fix your url issues.
your last option is to go to your hosting plan site or your server FTP Panel and delete buddypress 1.57 and then you would be good to go but you have to go and re-install bp 1.56 to find out if that was the problem.

ParticipantHi @rogercoathup, I have noticed that if you click on some link /button on your site that between every page load there’s a 1 sec white page blink , I had the same problem on http://www.4ella.com and have removed it by disactivating some plugins (I don’t remember which ones
), could you tell me how many plugins are you using ? Or are you trying to use more codes than plugins on your site because before I had about 70 plugins active , now I have only about 20 , the site is much more quicker now and I don’t see no white pages between page loads anymore , but there are many plugins which I miss a lot , so I am trying to find the way how to activate more plugins without slowing down the site and seeing white page between page loads.July 29, 2012 at 12:21 am #138124In reply to: BuddyPress Profile Privacy Extension

Participantyou know the check boxes let me post a screen shot from image shack. I am referring to this picture it is your plugin. You have the “let the user decide” drop down option but if you could just please add the default “friends only” check boxes and add the private messaging it would be superb. I would personally greatly appreciated thanks. I tried others but it was too much of hassle for user if they would want to go that deep I want something simple as yours so even my grandpa would be able to set his privacy settings thanks again.

@mercime
Participant@meisterlumpi it has been resolved, so no need to open a new ticket.
Instead of messing with core file, you could just add the change in your theme’s stylesheet. Also, the the change should have been for body.wp-admin only, since removing it from body could make the adminbar overlap your content at top if your theme design is set flush to top of screen.

Participant@elangley – BuddyPress is used to provide the backbone for member accounts on Enterprise Nation. Customised activity stream loops are also used (e.g. clicking on discussions a sidebar option from some pages) takes you to a custom activity stream showing new forum threads, and blog comments & threads.
The profiles are currently being overhauled – with a raft of new functions coming on board in the next month or so (e.g. shop account integration, and some bespoke BuddyPress components for directory listings).

Participant@mercime so no need to report this by opening a new ticket?
To get rid of the gap I edited the file “/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/css/buddybar.css”. Just comment out `padding-top:25px!important;` in the first line of the file.
`body,body.wp-admin{/* padding-top:25px!important; */}….`
would be pleased to know if there is a better work around, that doesn’t involve messing with a core file though..
July 28, 2012 at 9:27 pm #13811612sp
Member@mercime Thanks. I don’t understand how to use that information though and the site says specifically to avoid “Asking for help, clarification, or responding to other answers.”
It doesn’t look like an actually plugin but code to add to something.

Participant== By plugin remove you mean.. ==
You can just do this first -> a) just deactivate all plug-ins except BP
and change to bp-default theme== Also: “bp-custom.php” file is located in … ? ==
You create the file bp-custom.php -> https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/bp-custom-php/
