MemberI was having a similar problem i had the Activate page as a sub page to the Members area.
Two things you might want to check.
1. Make sure your Activate page is set to Activate in the BuddyPress > Pages
2. Go to your Activate page under Pages > All Pages (if you don’t have one create one with no parent) make sure you don’t have it under a different menu as a sub page if you see a – Activate that means you have it as a subpage. it needs to be named Activate and with no parent.This worked for me.

MemberGot it all working now. on the 404 error, I just used a 301 redirect:
`
<?php
header(“Status: 301 Moved Permanently”) ;
header(“Location:http://www.sweepbook.com/rate-this/” ) ;
?>
`This works better, if the 404 comes up, it redirects to the homepage… not bad for a starter – all in one day

MemberThanks you all for your answers, I’ll come up with workaround. As mentioned, I know Linux is much better for WEB SERVERS, but like I said, I have .aspx pages that I’d rather not want to play around with.

ParticipantYou should have a good look through the BP options in the dashboard and turn off components you don’t want, as for editing core files, you don’t!
WP/BP set up correctly should run just as well on any server platform but preference would always be for Linux boxes as they are simply better than windows for running servers.

MemberThank you all for you replies. I have posted this issue on WordPress before when I was using pageline theme, but nobody replied on WordPress.
@Chris, that is exactly what I am looking for, I’m not too fimiliar with coding and currently learning, it will be a big help if I know which codes to remove. I’m basically trying to get rid of all the unecessary things on my site to increase performance. I know wordpress runs better on Linux, but I cannot change to Linux since I have another website that are recieving good traffic, and that website contains aspx pages.

1) Groups in buddypress are like ‘post types’ in wordpress, while you can deactivate it so that it doesnt do anything, it’s hardcoded into the core and the only way to remove it completely is by editing the core plugin.February 17, 2012 at 6:51 pm #129994In reply to: New to Buddypress – Questions

MemberThanks for the reply @mercime.
1. I don’t have any groups registered, I just wanted to know if the functionality can be removed completely.
3. http://www.sweepbook.com is my main site, wordpress/buddypress is installed in a subdirectory, http://www.sweepbook.com/rate-this/. If I use the WordPress twentyeleven them, the logos redirect correctly to http://www.sweepbook.com/rate-this/.

Participant1) Re: delete not deactivate
You can safely delete each Group you’ve created in each Group’s admin settings.
You can uninstall the Forums for groups in dashboard menu BuddyPress > Forums > uninstall group forums.
You can uninstall Sitewide Forums in dashboard menu BuddyPress > Forums > uninstall sitewide forums.
Then, go to BuddyPress > Components > remove checks for User Groups and Discussion Forums2) Re: if you look at my site http://www.sweepbook.com/rate-this/ you will notice the menu items are on top of each other
– I don’t see that in your site. So it’s either you’ve changed the theme to bp-default theme or you’ve decided to use bp-default’s custom menus to organize your links.
3) Re: The logos on my site, redirects to http://www.sweepbook.com/rate-this
– Right now I see that you have HTML pages at domain root http://www.sweepbook.com/
So where did you install WP/BP, in subdirectory rate-this?and the redirect is to
redirect is to http://www.sweepbook.com/sweepbook/rate-this/ .
WP Settings > General > Site Address URI/WordPress Address URI was changed without proper checks and this is not a BuddyPress issue at all.https://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL and if that doesn’t help you resolve the problem, please post at https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting

KeymasterGo to BuddyPress > Pages in your WordPress Admin menu. You should have a page selected (dropdown menus) for each line. If nothing is selected next to “Activity”, and there’s not a good page to use in the dropdown, use the “New Page” button. All you need to do is name the page and save it; it doesn’t need to have any content. Then, go back to BuddyPress > Pages and select the page you want to use. BP takes care of almost everything, including creating the correct activation link, if you tell it which page to use.

ParticipantHello there, im pretty sure there is a bp-mobile plugin for buddypress. But that might be targeted for mobile browsers though. You could try incorporating BP into some frameworks such as sencha. there are a couple of others, but I cant remember the names of them
sorry. I actually have played with one, i’ll look for the name of itFebruary 17, 2012 at 5:06 pm #129984murasaki
Participant@seluvega First off, Thanks for the link! i’ve installed the folder you linked to, i get the button, and when clicked i get an ajax notifier , and thats it. Do i need to do some edits to the code first?

February 17, 2012 at 2:28 pm #129979In reply to: How much memory does BuddyPress need?

ParticipantFirstly please avoid auto install they tend to cause issues more times than any of us probably care to remember in dealing with posts here.
Secondly do not set php script memory to a value in the region you mentioned ‘4096M’ the reason for this config setting in php is to AVOID the possibility that a script could get stuck in an infinite loop and drain all your system memory at which point your machine would grimace and grind to a halt. So a value as mentioned earlier 128M or 256M is more than enough and the issue you have is not due to this aspect.
Your host has provided a ‘Local’ copy of php.ini for your site they still have a master copy that runs for all sites or for the main web server if you run phpinfo() in a file you will see the settings table is divided into two one for master values one for local. Some server boxes that run things like Plesk control panels tend to have a confusing set of php.ini copies which is why I asked about editing correct one.

Thanks for your comprehensive reply. Do you mean this issue was “confusing”?
I used the web host’s automated system.
Renamed plugin folder and then moved all the plugins back into the original plugin folder, except for the Buddy Press plugins. My WP dashboard and website is now accessible again.
Checked the codex compatibility list. This suggests there may have been a conflict between my Expresso event and BuddyPress plugins – another good reason for removing BuddyPress.
Yes, I did go through the theme compatibility test and passed.
Thanks again for your help.

KeymasterbbPress (any version) is a forum, right? Just like what we’re using to talk over now.
BuddyPress is a social network layer for your WordPress site. The pictures on the front page list its features https://buddypress.org/

MemberThanks, you’ve explained sort of what I knew, that BuddyPress is looking to incorporate all of what the bbPress plugin does, but it isn’t quite there yet.
So, what that leaves is my real question… What does BuddyPress do, that bbPress does not? I would assume the developer doesn’t just like developing new Plugin’s with new names that rehash old plugin’s. I hope anyway… LOL
I have to be missing something. Also, does anyone here realize that search just does not work on this site?
