I tried using an admin account everything worked fine, then I tried on a normal account but found no Remote Access settings. I was wondering is this supposed to work only for admins or am I missing something?

Its diffrent for each theme. But mine is located in my theme @ this location.

/themes/bounce/lib/buddypress/bp.css

My theme is called “bounce”

Some progress!

When “Show the Toolbar for logged out users” is checked admin bar is shown to logged out users

However

When “Show the Toolbar for logged out users” is unchecked admin bar is still shown logged out users

still nothing for logged in users.

started from scartch with a new child theme

with just

@import url( ../../plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/css/default.css );

aha!

no admin bar

added a function.php with just

i will now go ahead and deactivate all plugins except buddypress & bbpress

though the admin bar appears in bp default theme with these plugins activated

Would really really appreciate some guidance

Hi

I am relative new to WP & Buddypress & so I hope my question does not sound strange. 😉

I created a number of WP Community site users and for a number of reasons would like to send them their login information later. At the same time, I have created a group for this particular group of people. I know there is the usual option of members joining a group on their own, requesting admission or a member inviting them.

Is there however a way for me, the site admin & group admin to go a step further after creating memberships to CREATE GROUP memberships for this group of about 20 – 30 users, before I can then send them the site logins?

As said, for a number of reasons, among which is the fact that MOST of these folks are NOT web savvy & probably have some excuse for not signing up/joining group. We would like however to actively “encourage” them to immediately get involved in important project work by presenting them the site & group membership on a plate, with no excuse from them.

So is there any solution to create group memberships as site admin/group admin? A preliminary search of the buddypress plugins for one that would enable this could not be found, but I am gonna trying looking again.

I would appreciate a quick response to this. I am apparently no programmer & if any code modification is required, would appreciate the snippet & information of where exactly to place it. I am using the newest versions of WP, buddypress, bbforum, etc & the Custom Community theme.

Hi!

Been trying to solve this problem for 2 days already but to no avail.

I installed a theme that is compatible with buddypress, however, the profile tabs is of vertical orientation instead of the usual ‘jquery/ajax’ dynamic horizontal tabs (like the one found in the default buddypress template).

I have no other plugin except buddypress. I have installed the old versions of wordpress 3.4.2 and buddypress 1.7 as recommended by the theme creator and the problem still persist.

sorry it wasn’t something wrong with your app but had trouble with my server. I reinstalled everything and now everything working f9.

You both could be affected by this: https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4834

If the call to the_title() occurs outside the loop in your theme, BuddyPress fails to display the “Add New” button.

In this case you have to fix your theme.

Quick solution could be to create a custom template page for buddypress and relocate the call to the_title() inside the loop.

@alex-74 Confirming the unusual redirection to home page. Please delete dummy user account in your installation.

What have you tried so far to troubleshoot this issue? Changing to BP Default theme to check if issue is corrected? Deactivating other BuddyPress plugins to check for plugin conflicts? If you want to deactivate plugins by batches, I would deactivate the chat plugin and those plugins which have not been updated for BP 1.6-1.7, then check if you could go to a group’s single page. If it’s still not working, deactivate another batch of plugins.

There is no wizard in BuddyPress 1.7
Go to Settings > General and check anyone can register
If you want forums install bbPress plugin

Set-Up

wp 3.5.1 bp 1.7 bbpress 2.2.4 & later 2.3 rc1

upgrading from 1.6.5 and to Group & Sitewide Forums

Theme – Child of BP Default

All on a local install to prepare to upgrade for online eventually.

A Slight glitch —> but not in BP Default —> only in the Child of BP Default Theme

It is the problem as mentioned by @buddyboss in this thread http://buddypress.org/support/topic/buddypress-1-7-is-now-available-2/

I did try

1) adding show_admin_bar( true ); in functions.php but no joy (emptied caches etc).

2) removed all functions from the child theme.

3) removed all functions except show_admin_bar( true ); from the child theme.

4) selectively removed items from the header.php file.

Have examined the sequence and it appears to me that the admin menu dissappears when you save settings on the last step of configuring bbpress.
(i.e step 6 of http://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/ )

Have tried with bbpress 2.2.4 & later with bbpress 2.3 rc1

Would really appreciate some guidance as it really has outwitted me.

Hi everyone. I’m testing out BuddyPress but unfortunately I’m having some issues with it. When I install it and activate it (yes I’ve activated pretty permalinks), I get no notification to run the setup wizard, nor do I see a “BuddyPress” option under my Dashboard. The only option I have is under Settings->Buddypress, and all this does is allow me to activate or deactivate components. I also have no way to create forums and when I go to the main site, I’m not sure how to add a “Register” button near the login panel?

My site is skykickgame.com.

Also; is there a way to have users searchable by a user-definable set of tags?

2-How do I change the community to only be viewed by members only?
3-When I posted a Forum and topic it showed my IP address and I would like to disable that asap please show me how to do these things as I am finding it hard to deal with buddypress in general.

This issue can be corrected by adding the following line to your functions.php file:

include( getcwd() . ‘/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-blogs/bp-blogs-template.php’ );

That if statement includes a sidebar if I am a BP user, but for everyone else it won’t show the sidebar. I kinda need the reverse; if is an BP user then do not show. And would I place that code where?

childTheme/buddypress/members/single/home.php

Because that is the only page I do not want the sidebar. By the way what would be my best procedure because I don’t really like messing with core files?
