    == In the BP site directory listing, I want to add the title (and link to) the most recent post for each site. ==

    What theme are you using? Change to bp-default theme because the title and link to the most recent post for each subsite within a WP multisite installation with BuddyPress activated is there in Blogs Directory called by “ == Latest Post: The title of the post with link to the post.

    @djbnotts – what are you using to redirect users?

    David Carson (from Frisco)’s method has been working well for me – http://pastebin.com/rgJ6BQc8
    You may want to try that… Just add !is_front_page() above !bp_is_register_page() and it will block all pages that are not home, register and activation pages from being viewed by loggedout users.

    and to redirect them home, remove the /join from bp_core_redirect

    @tiagobeloto in version 1 we had a ‘wire’ feature that enables a user to post on a friends profile… It was eventually depreciated but It’s been turned into a plugin by BuddyDev.

    Here is the bp-wire for putting the Buddypress wire back to Buddypress 1.2

    @Lindsayannb – Essentially what you would want to do is utilise the built in “search_terms” parameter (which your already using for the profile fields links) and modifying the searchterm based on what is selected via the dropdown menu – https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/custom-buddypress-loops/the-members-loop/

    Haven’t looked indepth into this specific loop yet, (and i’m not sure if it will work on a directory page) but their is a profile field loop which might help… (https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/custom-buddypress-loops/the-profile-data-loop-bp_has_profile/)

    What theme are you using?
    What plugins do you have activated? Specifically plugins which deal with activity streams and/or comments e.g. Akismet, etc? Have you tried deactivating plugins except BuddyPress to check which is interfering with your updated install?

    @FuriousCigars Sometimes the simplest things get overlooked. :)
    As an alternative option: If you really want the pages to be as a child, creating a new page with the slug /community/ and putting them as a child of that page should work (it works here at bp.org).

    Don’t sweat it. It’s understandable. i get frustrated alot too. Just remember that their are people here willing to help (sometimes, you just need to bump your topic afew times, because sometimes we miss topics when we sleep, and when it was posted early on in the night and hasn’t been bumped recently, we assume the issue’s been resolved.)

    Go to dashboard menu > BuddyPress > Settings – click Yes radio button for “Restrict group creation to Site Admins”

    – WP/BP versions?
    – Single WP or WP multisite?
    – Shared hosting or VPS and above?
    – Did you install WP manually or did you use webhost WP install script? The webhost scripts sometimes causes the server error when BuddyPress is activated.
    – What theme are you using?
    – What plugins do you have installed?

    Is this for a WordPress blog comment or a BuddyPress activity comment / group comment / status update / anything BuddyPress?

    If WordPress query the codex for params https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/get_avatar

    `<?php
    echo get_avatar
    (
    ‘user-id-which-you-can-find-in-users-table-or-user-email’,
    ‘size-in-numeric-form’,
    ‘path-to-avatar-if-none-supplied-will-use-mystery-man,
    ‘alt-text-for-image-goes-between’
    );
    ?>`

    If it’s BuddyPress and you are using outside a loop then there are also parameters you can pass. However documentation here is a little sparser than the WordPress Codex.

    I honestly couldn’t from the top of my head, nor can i afford you the luxury of time at this minute. Sorry man, someone else will help you.

    Simple:Press I used to love that platform, it’s such a mature forum and does so much stuff. The admin can be very heavy though and is completely not connected with BuddyPress.

    If you are going to use BuddyPress you should consider the BBPress forums now, it’s at a very good stage.

    @serdox hehe you can enable threaded comments, there is a guide within the codex.

    Favs are much the same as the example @kalengi has given if you look into bp-activity-functions.php you should be able to figure it out.

    Also, your theme is a premium theme that advertises BP support. Surely you should be looking at the Author for support?

    @kalengi awesome dude, thanks for helping.

    Thinking something like this.

    Still struggling to see how it would work for more than the 1st stage / 1st option directing to the xProfile Group associated with that.

    Although that might be my lack of understanding the possible direction a user may take when building out their registration fields.

    This interface might confuse users, Google + / Groups / BuddyPress / ahhh head aches.

    Will probably opt in for a simple drop down on either side.

    @Chris Thats exactly what it was man. I had the those pages under Activity as their parent. As soon as I changed that everything works perfectly. It amazes me that my brain couldn’t have thought of that. I am very sorry I took my frustration out on you bro. I feel like a real jerk today.

    Thank you very much for the help, that fixed it all.

    I think a plugin would be a great addition to bp..I would believe more users would like to be able to create different registration profile fields for different users (dating sites, networking sites, job sites etc.,..that’s a good question..maybe something simple in the bp admin like the buddypress user account type plugin…or maybe is it possible to create the plugin as add on to the main Extended Profile Fields menu?

    I wish I could be more of a help..
    Cheers, Bojan

    Hey @bojan85

    Guess there is a small need for a plugin like this.

    I’m trying to visualise how you would configure a plugin to meet the requirements you need and also any others like @davidveldt

    Possible scenarios?

    Multiple routes for registration depending on which items were selected at the “required” stage.

    If this was to come “out the box” with BuddyPress, how would you expect to set this registration up within wp-admin / bp-admin?

    Yes, Agreed. I have found posts about this going back 11 months and no one seems to see this as a serious detractor for Buddypress. A group centered plugin that is not actually focused on its members.
    Anyone can see ALL public group activity whether they belong to the group or not. Simultaneously that same person cannot see any Private or Hidden Group activity even if they belong to the groups.

    Activity should be for groups the person is a member of. Otherwise buddypress is just confusing.

    Please let me know if there is a patch since this is really a bug.

    #129114

    I added it, but it still shows the scroll bar. and it only makes it a certain.
    I tried making it 100px just to try, and i believe it only stretches up to 50px..

    Sorry to disappoint you, but no genius here :-)

    #2) I recall that issue. Add this to your theme’s stylesheet:
    `#whats-new-options {
    height: 30px;
    }`
    increase height as needed.

    @marcella1981,

    Hey Marcella, first of all thank you for taking the time to help us, What I am trying to do is very similar as david have two different registration forms depending if their user role is an athlete or coach. I have the regular Bp default theme with the frisco theme, and latest wp and bp.

    I have been trying to figure it out for a couple days but cant seem to move forward..where in the register.php do i enter the php code and jquery script? I tried a couple different places..I have matched the group fields with the $roles array I’m guessing thats the only thing im doing right so far…

    Sorry for the all the questions I am a beginner at all this..Any tips or help how to move forward would be greatly appreciated!
