I really like the added benefit of utilizing the WP menu item (upper left) with the fly out menu and having the Anonymous user show (far right when not logged in) and I was wondering the following:

    1. How did you add the fly out menu to the WP menu item?
    2. How did you add the Anonymous user menu to show to logged out users?
    3. In addition to #1, what’s the easiest way to change the logo to wording?

Thanks to whoever can assist me.

oh, @bphelp that’s just awesome! I had made lots of improvements to the code, could you send me a copy of what you made to juanmaguerrerocom {at} gmail.com?

I had a lot of work recently but I wanted to made a plugin anyone could use with this. Maybe if it’s good we can certainly upload it, and I would be glad if we appear both as authors 🙂

    Thanks a lot!!

    Cheers

I am using WordPress 3.5.1, BuddyPress 1.6.4 with the BuddyPress default theme. I have also downloaded bbPress but I have deactivated it. This is a brand new install.

I am having a problem with the ‘Create and Account’ link on the sidebar.

When I installed BuddyPress I created 5 blank pages: Activate, Activity Streams, Member, Register, User Groups because I was getting this Notice: The following active BuddyPress Components do not have associated WordPress Pages: Activate, Activity Streams, Member, Register, User Groups.

The top navigation is as follows and these links all seem correct as they send me to a page.

Activity Streams points to /index.php/activity-streams/, Members points to /index.php/members/ and User Groups points to /index.php/user-groups/

But on the side bar where it says Please create an account to get started. The link on ‘create an account’ points to http://www.newsthatsused.com/newsthatsused/register/ Notice the ‘index.php’ part of the link is missing and therefore sends me to ‘The page cannot be found’.

Also in the First Footer Widget Area I have dragged and dropped Who’s Online Avatars. When I view this link on my site in the footer, it sends me to /members/membersname/. Notice the /index.php/ is also missing here and therefore sends me to ‘The page cannot be found.

If I manually type the index.php/register/ into the address; a page is there albeit blank save for Register and Leave a reply.

    This is my address
    http://www.newsthatsused.com/newsthatsused/index.php

I would appreciate any help you can give

Hello, I’m beginner in WordPress and Buddypress.

I have some trouble here, I wanna create the function to delete activity based on their date recorded, for example the activity will be deleted if they more than 30 days.

I have know how to set up cron, buat I confused when create that function with “bp_delete_activity()”, I’ve been looking around to get idea use that function, but I can’t find the way out.

Is there anyone here get idea to do this? Or may be give me a hint to do this?

    Thank you.

I don’t believe it’s possible at the moment, without hacking the core.
    I hope I’m proved wrong.
The Group_Extension API only handles single group pages.

I want to run buddypress on the WP multisite’s sub site. Other templtes and plugins I installed worked fine. but buddypress gets installed on the home folder and shows up on the home theme. I want to run buddypress on the sub directory. For example.com/buddypress

What I am looking for is to have separate socal newtwoking subsite but still with WP multisite.

I can’t find the solution how to add another item to the group directory of BuddyPress. At the moment there is: All Groups | My Groups

I want to split the groups into special and regular once. So I need two new tabs: Special Groups | Regular Groups | All Groups | My Groups

It would be great if someone could help me! 🙂

I am having the same issue with the friend button not doing anything except spinning but this also extends to most similar types of buttons like deleting/favoriting/commenting on activity posts. nothing happens.

Is this an ajax problem? i have read through this thread but cant see any good answer to the problem?

Is there any limit to the amount ?
This is typically a wordpress question. BuddyPress is only a plugin for WP.

are most buddypress enabled plugins compatible with 1.7?
BP is still in beta and feedbacks are low at the moment, so you have to test this yourself like we all do actually or wait the stable release and give some delay after for the same reason

Problem solved. It was a issue with my server. You have to add all the pages in configure page and wait for sometime. :D

I have installed WordPress and the BuddyPress plug-in, activated the default BP them, and allowed all the directories to automatically generate. I have selected the “Allow anyone to register” checkbox under Settings/General, but there is no Register tab on my site. What have I done wrong? I want to test the registration.

    Hi,

Is there any plugin which allows to show buddypress user navigation and sub navigation in sidebar, like activity, mentions, messages etc or what is the way of  creating the buddypress links in sidebar instead of adminbar.

Is there any limit to the amount of buddypress compatible plugins you can have on your site without affecting the site’s performance?

Also, are most buddypress enabled plugins compatible with 1.7?

    Thanks.

    WordPress 3.3.1
    BuddyPress 1.6.4
    http://airplanes.ro/wordpress

Steps 1-3 in the installation wizard work fine. (I leave everything default except on step 1 I uncheck forums). Steps 1-3 display the black horizontal bar on top where you can go to (about.php, airplanes.ro/wordpress, …. and Howdy, )

When I get to step 4 (Theme), the black horizontal bar on top disappears and it displays a blank page. When I click Next&Save, it sends me back to step 1. Rinse and repeat.

    I’ve tried:
disabling every other plugin except Buddypress
    different browsers (IE and FF)
    removing buddypress and re-installing it

    What else should I try?

Here’s a screenshot of the first screen and the 4th screen:

This is baffling me. I’ve setup multiple buddypress sites already and I’ve never had this, nor could google help me out.

When I try to upload an avatar for a user or a group, I get this error after I select “choose file”, select an image to upload then select the “upload image” button.

Upload Failed! Error was: No editor could be selected.

I’m definitely stuck. Thanks in advance for any help.

    /********Additional Notes**********/

    • I just setup wp and bp on this domain.
    • I’m running wp 3.5.1 and bp 1.6.4.
    • I have the same instances of wp and bp setup on another site with the same theme and not having any issues there.
    • “buddypress” & “ultimate coming soon page” by SeedProd are the only plugins
    • removed “ultimate coming soon page” plugin and problem persisted

The site is in maintenance mode, so sharing a url won’t help unfortunately, sorry

    Hello,

I am using Buddypress 1.7 Beta on my site and it’s working pretty smoothly.. However, when I installed the Buddypress Login Redirect plugin, I wasn’t able to activate it and got the following error message…

“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare bp_login_redirect() (previously declared in /home/ethan/public_html/roxxster.info/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-dependency.php:229) in /home/ethan/public_html/roxxster.info/wp-content/plugins/buddypress-login-redirect/bp-login-redirect.php on line 30”

Does anyone know what’s going on here?

    Thanks.

As far as I got that a template pack will no longer be necessary in BP 1.7.

That´s the big deal now, it´s becoming absolutely theme independent and therefore will work out of the box on EVERY wordpress theme. (That has the “the_content call”, of course.)

So actually, giving BP it´s own Login and profile editing pages wont be as much work as it would be with the previous versions. Also a page where users can manage their post comment subscriptions would be great. Ask me, I might have another 400 ideas here 😉

    Hi @Chouf1

I already told my theme author about this and in return he offered a solution:

    Remove: wp_enqueue_script( ‘dtheme-ajax-js’, BP_PLUGIN_URL . ‘/bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/global.js’, array( ‘jquery’ ), $version ); From theme functions.php

I did this and this and this stopped the duplicate post issue I was having see: https://buddypress.org/support/topic/troubleshooting-duplicated-activity-restricted-mapped-domain/

Is it your thoughts that add_theme_support( ‘buddypress’ );  is possibly the root of the ajax issue too .. ?

Oh & thanks for your input anyway @Ben Hansen, any food for thought is better than none at all.

    Hi

Can make a plugin for Buddypress so that the forum sends private messages to group users. This will then cause the notification system to pick up the message and show it in the grey WordPress/Buddypress notification bar. Your forum notification problem solved for only £15.

Let me know if you are interested and we will build it
