hmmm… I think I might consider a completely separate install under a sub domain or separate path so I could also experiment with a completely different set of plugins, wordpress versions (like 3.3 beta), as well as themes. I am not familiar with MU to know if you can have such independence, for example, having two versions of buddypress installed at the same time.

It’s neither the fault of WordPress, BuddyPress or Welcome Pack that your emails are filtered into spam folders. I suggest changing the content of those emails so that email spam services are less likely to flag the email as spam. There may also be server configuration changes you could make to help.

Did you go through the installation wizard after upgrading to BP 1.5? What’s in your error logs? What’s in your .htaccess file?

Unzip folder and drag buddypress folder to wp-content/plugins/ in XAMP
@mercime Im using a small variation of the default theme. I’m referring to the members/single/home.php. It’s my understanding that the different member loops run through. It has the sidebar calls on it.
But what Im trying to do is have the normal 2 column for profile and a few others but I want a 3 column setup for the personal/friends activity pages.

Resolved –
The problem was that I had added `define(‘BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT’, ‘messages’);` to the wp-config file.
Found to be a bug and added to trac:

Click on wamp icon, Apache –> Apache Modules, and you can see big list, scroll down and choose rewrite_module.

The main profile field group is default as “Base”. There is no full name field in buddypress, only username and display name.
EDIT: However changing “Display Name” to “Name” did fix the problem. Its working fine now.

Your solution
I had this same problem.
TO fix it, go to the BuddyPress Profile Fields Admin Area,
Rename the Full Name to Name
Rename the Main Profile Field Group to Base
Save.
This will fix the issue.

Deactivate BuddyPress. You have to resolve pretty permalinks issue before activating BuddyPress.

Well with the fact that I used a custom function in order to allow upper case in username during these user’s sign up, I’m not sure if its a bug or a result of the function.
As I’ve stated before, buddypress was reinstalled on the same database with no change.
I’ve already tried a fresh install, all worked fine. However without knowing what custom function was used before to allow uppercases in username on sign up, I can’t honestly duplicate the bug.
I’ve tried going into phpmyadmin, and manually entering a display name on the users affected, the display name doesn’t show, still uses the username, and changing the display name still isn’t possible.

So far,v.1.2 appears to work as intended on a buddypress single site set-up.
However in a multisite set-up (local with define ( ‘BP_ROOT_BLOG’, 2 )
the BP Group Plus link does not appear under the BuddyPress admin menu.
Keep going if you have the time.

If you think you’ve found a bug, and ideally can recreate it on a clean test install, please please report it to us on http://buddypress.trac.WordPress.org if it isn’t already.
If you’re running multisite (or want to switch to it), this is straightforward. Otherwise, it’s extremely complicated and I don’t think there’s a trivial solution.
For what? As you can read on that page of the admin, bbPress integrates itself into BuddyPress. It doesn’t provide group forums just yet.
