In reply to: Regular wp theme to a buddypress theme?
Tony Locke
Participantwell, I don’t know what part of the file to change. I loaded the compatibility plugin templates, loaded the BP Sidebar plugin, even got the theme tag-ged buddypress to get rid of the message.
when I open up the widgets I see the Buddypress sidebar widgetized areas, but no matter what I place in there I can’t get them to show.
I guess I need to learn how to “make note of the HTML template structure of the file, specifically the
tags that surround the content and sidebar.”
will someone hold my hand through that process please?August 9, 2011 at 2:45 am #118029In reply to: JobRoller + BuddyPress errors

I don’t recall now where I found it. If anyone knows how to fix for 1.5 that would be nice.August 8, 2011 at 11:10 pm #118013In reply to: BuddyPress 1.5 compatibility for plugins and themes

ParticipantDoing a test run for child theming and couldn’t figure out why some style rules displayed and others didn’t until I realized that BP Default is loaded after the child theme instead of before. Anybody else getting this or did I just botch my install?

Participant@travel-junkie Cheers for the explanation Boris!
You know my site better than anyone, so it’s something I would love to do when it becomes integrated with BP further down the line.
I just love how much simpler it looks on testbp.org
I guess the new plugin of bbpress2.0, will change all existing groups into forums when it transfers everything over and these are displaed on one page, integrated with the forum directory?
Groups and forums are fine for those used to BP, but I find people who are less savvy just aren’t getting it that easily on my site. Having them displayed as they are as ‘forums’ on testbp.org alongside the forum directory, makes it so much more intuitive!
If anyone knows how the upgrade process will work down the line when bbpress 2.0 is officially part of BP that would be great to know!

KeymasterI’ve just released 0.5 of BP Group Management, which is fully 1.5 compatible (it already was, btw, but I cleaned up some PHP warnings and other small issues

Participant@naijaping what theme are you using and how are nav items generated in your theme? If you’re using child theme of bp-default, there are CSS classes automatically which you can target for styling currently selected items.
For BP 1.2.9 there’s .selected and .current_page_item classes
`ul#nav li.selected a, ul#nav li.current_page_item a {
background: #f5f5f5;
color: #555;
}`For upcoming BP 1.5 bp-default using wp_nav_menu, there’s .selected, .current-menu-item, .current_page_item, and even current_page_ancestor
`#nav li.selected a,
#nav > li.current-menu-item a,
#nav > li.current_page_item a,
#nav > li.current_page_ancestor a {
background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #F5F5F5;
color: #4D4D4D;
}`August 8, 2011 at 6:06 pm #117999In reply to: new subpage for every user

Keymaster@foxly I can’t say “thanks” enough for the effort you guys are putting into 1.5 compatibility. This is a *huge* help to the community (and benefits you too, since it gets 1.5 out sooner
)It’ll be great to get @karmatosed write-access to the google doc. She has stepped up and taken a leadership role with a 1.5-compat codex page and with this forum thread, and it will be great for you to combine your resources – BP Media checking compatibility in-house, and @karmatosed (and others) collecting reports, etc from the forums.
Again, thanks so much.

Participant@boonebgorges You’re welcome …

We’ve thrown some resources your way!
1) Our testers are currently checking every BuddyPress plugin with > 1000 downloads. Our throughput is about thirty a day. Thus far, 85% fail (as in cannot be used) rate.
http://code.google.com/p/buddypress-media/wiki/DOCS_BP_OnePointFive
@karmatosed …email me [CarlRoett] -at- [Gmail.com] and we’ll give you write access to the spreadsheet and wiki.
2) Our core devs are currently building a wiki to help other developers transition their plugins. Estimated finished in 2 days.
http://code.google.com/p/buddypress-media/wiki/DOCS_BP_FixingPlugins
3) OurSIGINT guys are doing their best to contact everyone with incompatible plugins and give them a “heads up”. We didn’t know about 1.5 until we stumbled across it in the forum, and we suspect the situation is similar for many other developers.
Hope this helps get things rolling!
^F^
Can you tell we really, really want 1.5 released to production…
