MemberI tried adding it to my functions file is my theme (using suffusion w/ the suffusion buddypress plugin) and it still didn’t work. is there any special place in the file I should be adding it in? I am using a child theme as well, should I put my functions.php file into the child theme? I don’t think that would make much of a difference in this case would it?
Thanks for your help!

MemberOk but whats the best for photos and videos, for my members i need plugins thats gonna let members
have photos videos etc. The buddypress forum seems to bee gearded towards gruop forum not members, and how do i delete the basic blog that is part of word press and just use blog in buddy press, and as far as i can see i dont see any blog in buddypress. and you say multi sites for blogs i dont understand.August 4, 2011 at 9:47 pm #117711In reply to: Buddypress ,photos, videos, forums, and blogs.

MemberBuddypress includes forums and blogs. But you have to run multisite for blogs.
There are plugins for video, photos, etc.

MemberOut of the box, you can’t do this. But there is a plugin for that.

Participant@andrea_r the reason I have plugins phobia is when I find plugin like this that was last edited a year ago
however I came over my phobia and installed this plugin, it worked as supposed, but get the user back to the home without giving any message saying successful registration ( the auto login after registration doesn’t work, perhaps cause plugin wasn’t updated, ) so you have any idea how to make this redirect to custom page I will create to say” you have successfully became a member of our holy website, without even touching your e-mail ) lol sorry for this funny side, I’m just happy today

Participantthank you @modemlooper
New version of BP Group Extras from @slaffik does exactly what we need , but not globally yet, with his latest version you need to create the fields for every group over over again
but he has new excellent feature – unlimited group pagesAugust 4, 2011 at 7:56 pm #117699In reply to: Finding Buddypress.org Designers/ Developers

So I got the add-on and now it’s working great.

KeymasterYou’re asking on a BuddyPress forum which is the best social networking plugin? You’re going to get biased responses

MemberDrupal does have comparable social networking tools and is worth considering. It is more of a “proper CMS”, but also considerably more difficult to configure properly.
I’d recommend against Joomla if for no other reason than they don’t have an upgrade path. They have fewer extensions available, and more of their extensions cost money. I also wasn’t a big fan of the social network tools available.
In the end, I went with WordPress because I love how easy it is to update, and how easy it us to update all my plugins. I looked at Mingle, WP-Symposium and Buddypress. Of the three, Buddypress had the most features and plugins, and seemed to have the most developer support.
I think it is the best tool out there for building a social network personally, but your mileage may vary.
