@djpaul , I deactive and deleted the whole buddypres folder, then, ftp up the bp 1.5. I thought this is an install? but the wizard steps are not presented.
How to do a new install?

@enderandrew, of course. are 755 for each folder. I’ve tried to switch to 777, no way.

I think it’s not a problem about dir premission: uploading avatars through profile->change avatar (instead last step on registration process) it works like a charm.

Interesting discussion here. @embergermedia , did you consider a vote up and vote down system ? It can be more powerful when we want to use the total votes to do something else.

Hi,
I’m trying to figure out a way to allow users to add new Posts to existing blog categories but with control over the categories they are allowed to post to… but I’m having no luck finding a way to do that.

Users are registered as Contributors.
This is a single site (not allowing them to create their own blogs)

When you click on the Dashboard > New Post link, you can see the actual dashboard in the site. It looks a bit tacky and confusing because you can see everyone’s posts in there as well as your own. There are hundreds…

1. I would like to disallow users from posting to the main category, and force them to choose a subcategory.
2. I would like to allow them to post on the frontend if possible, it’s not a major necessity (functionality is more important right now).

I have already tried the 2 plugins I found listed here in the forums, but they are both broken.

Perhaps I’m missing something in the settings for Buddypress? or maybe there’s a hack for this?

It’s probably a good idea if you contact the author of this plugin to tell them their plugin shouldn’t be crashing the site if someone disables groups

Toggling them back on in the component settings (where you turned them off) should restore everything without any data loss.

We added two new parameters to the BP_Activity_Template class. The error is because they are missing. Please report this on https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/, those new values should have defaults for back pat.

Have you guys checked the file permissions of the avatar folder to make sure Buddypress can write files there?

If you rename the plugin folder buddypress-group-css or delete it then then wordpress will deactivate it so you should be able to get back into the admin dashboard…

BP 1.5 beta1 has “swich” where group creation can be restricted to Super Admins only
