@mercime
Participant@el_terko Another approach would be to create a child theme of the Hybrid Framework and install the BP Template Pack plugin where template files for the BP component pages are transferred to your child theme.
I would think that it would be easier to update the template files from BP Template Pack plugin than to upgrade the whole BP-compatible theme you have right now. In addition, this scenario would allow you to upgrade your Hybrid framewok when available without worrying about the upgrade to the BP template files until the next BP Template Pack upgrade.

@mercime
ParticipantUse a WordPress theme and install the BP Template Pack plugin where you have to change HTML structure to use your WordPress theme’s HTML structure.

ParticipantThe script it over 10 months old, whilst it probably would still work, there is a plug-in that achieves the same thing: Login with AJAX

ParticipantHi not-so-poor Programmer,
That stuff made my head spin. Exactly the reason why I became a poor designer. I kind of misunderstood the functionality as it seems, and so it is more to prevent dupes in the stream, and for hidden and private groups.
I think the functionality described by me will be extremely useful for bigger communities. I’d rather not start blocking certain types of Activity Stream items (https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-block-activity-stream-types/) and just show certain items to followers/friends only.
So if you could do something magical to make that happen.. I think a lot of bigger BP communities will be pleased. Or just turn it into a plugin! (HINT HINT LOUD NOISES)

MemberHi @dwenaus
Please could you tell me which file I have to insert this in as I’m very new to BP? I have a child theme based on the default theme.

Participant@Travel-Junkie , any news or status updates on the JobBoardr plugin? I’ve got a potential client asking for this functionality so if some new development input and heavy testing on my part can be of use or if a financial incentive is needed to get the project rolling again, let me know…

KeymasterHi poor designer
Actually, hide_sitewide is used for two different things. Check https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2293#comment:10 for some detail. I’d recommend against touching it because it’s so fiddly at the moment, and instead work on filtering something appropriately. If no-one else beats me to it this evening, I’ll have a look where in the code things need to be changed

KeymasterThe style’s just missing from BP-Default 1.2.x. We’ve fixed this in the upcoming 1.3 version. In the interim, you’ll just need to figure out what div or ul elements need indenting, and add some margin.

ParticipantThanks @Bowe
Re-setting up the Forum installation did the trick. I was hesitant to try it because I didn’t want to make thing worse.April 8, 2011 at 12:00 am #109783In reply to: activity slider??
Nahum
ParticipantI’ve been looking for something that does that. https://buddypress.org/community/groups/creating-extending/forum/topic/scrolling-activity/
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-activity-stream-bar/ – this plugin works but it doesn’t have to go in the footer, with a little tweaking you can put it just about anywhere. Only thing is I haven’t figured out how to show more than one activity at a time.

ParticipantUpdate your permalinks again, and if that does not work check to see if your .htaccess is correct. Another option that worked for me in the past is going to BuddyPress > Forum Setup > Use existing installation. Then you should see the path to where your current BBPress forum is configured by BuddyPress (should be your root folder). Just press Install and it should work.
If you don’t want to take ANY chances make a backup first

KeymasterIt was once. Are you running an old version of BuddyPress?
April 7, 2011 at 4:38 pm #109760Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterNot aware of any current issues regarding this. We have fixed a situation where when a private group’s member could favourite an item, which then any other site member could view that single item by going to the group member’s profile and viewin their favourites. This is going to become BuddyPress 1.2.9 this weekend.
If you think you’ve found an issue, please consider any conflicts with other plugins (or by using any theme other than BP-Default) and give clear instructions how to recreate.

Participant@ultimateuser Do you mean write values directly into bp_xprofile_fields ?
I wrote some dirty SQL to do just that.
` $insertsql = $wpdb->prepare(“INSERT INTO {$tablename} (group_id, parent_id, type, name, description, is_required, order_by, field_order, is_default_option, option_order ) VALUES (%d, %d, %s, %s, %s, %d, %s, %d, %d, %d )”, $group_id, $parent_id, $type, $region, ”, 0, ”, 0, 0, $option_order );`To be honest, I was hoping there would be a better way.
