Perhaps I have missed something fundamental, but I am attempting to include the various dynamic menu items included with BuddyPress and other add-ons to my primary drop-down menu.
For example, the Twenty Eleven WP theme has a tall header with a drop-down menu beneath the header. This menu can be manipulated via the Appearance->Menus option in wp-admin. BuddyPress adds its own menu items to the admin bar at the top of the page but does not include these links in the drop-down menu below the header. I would like to remove the admin bar completely and relocate all dynamic links to the drop-down menu.
I have already created a custom menu in the functions.php file:

I am able to add individual links to this menu using the wp_nav_menu_items function, but cannot seem to be able to replicate the dynamic menu structure created by the bp_nav functionality based on user.
Does anyone have ideas on how I could relocate this functionality? Or perhaps am I looking at the menu structure incorrectly?

I’m running BP 1.6 on the latest version of WP.
I am trying to create a website with several subsites. The subsites should have separate groups and forums, but once a user registers it should be registered for all subsites. I’ve come across the plugin the BuddyPress Multinetwork Plugin but this plugin seems to create seperate user databases for each subsite.
How can I have just 1 user database, so user are shared over all subsites?

I’ve recently updated both WordPress (to Ver. 3.4.1) and BuddyPress (to Ver.1.5.7) and weird display problems started popping up. Unfortunately I cannot recall which previous versions they were prior to the upgrade but everything worked perfectly before…I tried deleting BP completely and installed a downgraded version (1.5.6 – 1.5). Doesn’t solve the problem.
I currently have WP&BP installed in a subdirectory, not a subdomain. I have not tampered with anything in the core files & I have always been using the default theme that came with BuddyPress.
The main problem is that every time I activate BuddyPress, the text editor becomes this:

You can’t click the upload/insert media button; can’t switch over to html mode and no rich text editing (font colors, sizes,links etc) buttons at all. Also the default font color in the actual input area becomes white and I can’t see what I’m typing…In addition to this, as long as BuddyPress is activated I get all sorts of display problems in dashboard on the backend:
1) All the sidebar hover menus stop working- I can only click on a section and view the expanded sub-menus;
2) As I search for plugins from the backend, whenever I’m trying to view “details” of a certain plug-in I was getting a Lightbox-ish pop up window for all the details. Now I don’t get that. It simply opens whatever was in that pop up window in a new page…
2) Most frustratingly, I can’t drag any widgets around, which is actually a big problem.I have the following plugins activated at the moment:

Could it be that the problems actually comes from the WordPress end of things? Please help me out here! Any thoughts is appreciated!

I’ve installed Buddypress to a test server and have played around with it and really enjoy its capabilities. I’d like to use it for an upcoming project but would like somebody to point me in the right direction.
The project requires that we have http://www.domain.com that is a typical WordPress install and then a http://www.domain.com/community which would include the Buddypress site. The client does not want any of the community options on their root domain, they want it all contained in the community directory.
My question is, what is the best approach? The two ways that I have considered are creating two separate WordPress installs and then trying to make them share the same userbase. The more likely approach seems to be to convert the WordPress into a Multisite or Network with directories. I should then be able to install my main theme at the root and Buddypress in the subdirectory. I understand that I can change the main directory for Buddypress with a bp-custom.php file and have seen the commands that can be used within that file.
Which is the better solution? Is there a better way than the two I’ve listed?

I’ve set up a Buddypress site and am having a problem whereby certain users’ updates (new & old) are not appearing in the activity stream. For instance if a friend of mine joins a group, this doesn’t appear in either my notifications or on their profile if I click into it… I’m only getting their comment updates or when they joined my website. Am I missing a certain setting, or is it the new members’ setting that is not right? To clarify, I have set up 3 x separate accounts (both as admins, members, subscribers etc) and other people can see everything in terms of updates/activity stream in my account, and they can see the group updates etc. in their own accounts under ‘activity’… but I cannot. (e.g. when I join a group, comment etc.). Any ideas why other members’ updates are not showing up to me? Many Thanks for your help

It seems that the Widget Logic plugin is the best approach for a non coder, like myself. I have spent a fair amount of time with this plugin and I can tell it is going to work when I hit the right combination. I am soliciting advice from the BuddyPress gurus so I can get past this challenge quicker and get back to saving humanity
Using Widget Logic, I can get a sidebar to show up for a given group at the “Join / Request to Join” page. But I don’t want to show the sidebar (remember – premium content is located here) until they are an actual member of the group.

Hi everyone!
I’ve built my first custom widget for BuddyPress which displays the latest three group forum topics. I want this widget to display the same topics regardless of which page the user is currently viewing. As the bp_has_forum_topics works, it automatically adjusts to viewing the current users forum topics when viewing a members page, and when viewing a specific group, it shows the group forum topics only for this group.
I want to override the above values when viewing a specific group/member and have tried using the code below, but still the same default values are returned (thus when I view a group which has no forum posts, the widget shows “No forum topics found” and so on). I’m sure this is easy to fix, any ideas?

Hi – So the members of my site don’t understand that the first page isn’t where the discussions are. Is there a way to rearrange the tabs in all groups so that the “forum” is the first page they see instead of it automatically defaulting to the “activity/home” page? It is super confusing for users as some comment in the discussion and some comment in the activity stream so no discussions are ever streamlined. they’re all over the place.
I found this old code to do this for “profiles” not forums but wonder if it will still work with the current up-to-date buddypress. http://www.buddyboss.com/making-profile-the-default-landing-page-in-buddypress/ Does anyone know how I’d fix?
Or does anyone know of a plug-in available that fixes it?

(WordPress 3.4.1 / BuddyPress 1.5.7)ISSUE: Users are successfully posting ‘updates’ to the BuddyPress Activity Stream – but, if you Search for words contained in the Update, the Search Results do NOT include these updates.
Could you let me know how I can fix this? Thanks!
