Have you tried Add-All-Nav-Links-to-BP-Adminbar? You can add your main menu items to the navbar, then reposition it anywhere you like to replace the main nav.

MemberI am having the same issue as Charles- I thought I had imported a buddypress friendly template, and everything looks fine, but it just keeps saying there are no groups to display on the side bar and does not take me to a groups page.

ParticipantHello,
I am in the process of trying to activate a buddypress forum. I am having a similiar problem.
I have read the above posts and have been trying to create a group as descibed by Boone Gorges. When I go to groups at the top of the page it simply reloads the page with no option at all to create a group. Same story in admin.
Any suggestions?

ParticipantThe best place is the codex: https://codex.buddypress.org/home/ but it still needs some more love. Little by little it’s getting better though. After that, the code is the best place to find it I guess.

Participant@hnla the goal is not to continually post on a topic or subject. I started a project with the assumption that this was doable with buddypress and multisite, so a lot of my initial posts were to find answers to try and solve issues, now it’s obvious that this isn’t possible and thus the post in the “requests and feedback” group. I would imagine as with any dev group, the most requested feature would be the next priority, and it seems a few people have been requesting this feature for a while

ParticipantYep, this is a known issue with the server that hosts BP since it also hosts a lot of WP stuff. Use http://gravatar.com and you’ll be able to upload one.

Participant@r-a-y , in my child them header.php, I removed all bp nav menus already. I use custom menu in widget. So, there’s no way to figure out where the slugs comes from.
my buddypress is running on root blog, network activated, but not enable bp functions on multisite.
The permarlinks are correct, only the browser tabs shows inproper site name. for example, if you create a sub–blog under buddypress, and open the page “About”, the browser tab shows “BuddyPress.org | About” , I prefer it shows “other blog | About”

Participant@r-a-y , I found the problem but don’t know how to solve it.
The problem is when editing password in members/settings tab, the max length of password is limited to 10, also, it accept letters and numbers only. So, when I input from password generator, the length is a longer than allowed, and there are symbols. So, it returns “password didn’t match”

KeymasterCustom permalink structure shouldn’t matter, but have you tried resaving the permalink settings?
Also try disabling any plugins that might interfere with this. Including redirect and caching plugins.As a last resort, you can always create a page template copying exactly what is in /buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/activity/index.php and setting that as the front page…

KeymasterMake sure you have a /bp-themes/bp-default/ folder complete with stylesheet in your /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/ folder.
If you don’t, manually reupload the BuddyPress plugin to your /wp-content/plugins/ folder:

KeymasterDepending on your BP version, have you tried upgrading BuddyPress?
Also try to resave your permalink settings:
