Got a 404 on your link and BuddyPress was not activated in your install when I checked it.
BP requires pretty permalinks. Go to Settings > Permalinks and set permalink to other than what’s there on default.
As the title says, I have a fresh install of Buddypress on a fresh install of WordPress but the pages that Buddypress created come up as 404 errors when I try to go to them, even from within the WordPress admin panel.

1) your solution works partialy.
The float applied to the span brings the number on the same line as the text, but the span content is upper the normal baseline.
I had to adjust with heigh and lineheigth. Here’s the whole css i applied to the span:

ok, so the “reply_text”/editor id field doesn’t matter what is in it? Wondering how it knows which editor to use?
Yeah I tried it and was almost perfect for what I needed but I needed to limit the hierarchy so that only core groups could make sub groups instead of it being infinite.
I did post on there forums but no replies with no luck 
I’m still learning WordPress and Buddypress and browsed the code but couldnt see how I would limit them.

Sorry, I’m not being clear enough. I’m already using style.css, but I’m finding that overriding the #nav rules in default.css more complicated than its worth.
What I’d like to do is override default.css in the theme with a local copy so I can comment out the section which is causing me problems and replace it with fresh rules in style.css.
This is more a WordPress question than a Buddypress one, but is it possible to get WordPress to load a theme css file by placing a copy in your child theme, or do I need to mess with the PHP to change the location? In the interests of BC and upgradablility I’d rather not trash all the CSS.

I am looking to let my members create “Teams” that work the same as “Groups” do, I already have the core Groups feature in use and was wondering what would be the best way to do this?
I have searched for plugins to make this possible but so far I havnt found anything that helps, would it be possible to duplicate bp-groups and add it in as bp-teams along side the core bp-groups?
Hi, you don’t need to copy default.css to your child theme. Use instead style.css in the child theme and add your changes to the specific part taken from default.
Example: let’s say you want to change the width of div#content .left-menu from 170 to 200px
in default.css you have
`div#content .left-menu {
float: left;
width: 170px;
}`
In your child theme, you write this in the style.css file
`div#content .left-menu {
width: 200px;
}`

It appears to me that v. 1.4.1 works perfectly on macs / pcs but for some reason does not on the iPad. Reverting to v.1.4 solves this. Anyone else experience this ??

@mercime thank you, manged to get the look and visuals sorted out, will take your advice.
Then maybe you have some wisdom, on my posts page, when people comment I want these pages to display pagenumbers ie after 5 or 10 comments, then break and make a next page.
I have used the default settings, no go; then added every related plugin possible but page numbers dont show.
Have you any wisdom?

I am working on building a child site for my company, and I’m running across a few errors… I can’t seem to figure out how to fix the alignment and have the BuddyPress template “Fit” within my theme! I am using a Paid theme called “Magnifizine” and I really do not want to switch themes!
I’m asking help from anyone, please.

So far as I know, my host meets all the requirements with flying colors. PHP Version: 5.2.17, MSQL 5.1.51, and mod rewrite with “pretty permalinks” all seem to function great.
I started by unpacking WP 3.3.2 in the site’s mostly empty (/cgi-bin type stuff is still there) root directory. Let’s say it’s http://mysite.com/index.php, and we start the fresh WP install. I give it all the usual information of my database username, database name & password, database hostname… OK, let’s just say I can set up a WP site in my sleep. It’s working great and I change it to the pretty “day and post name” links.
Next I go to the plugin’s area (all disabled by default) and search/install Buddypress. It completes and I click on activate, and that nice yellow bar comes up prompting me to use the friendly wizard. I click it.
I follow through by accepting all the defaults (which seem to match my situation perfectly), and click on that magical looking activate link—-
BLANK.
Oh the pain.
Oddly though, if I go to the website’s homepage (http://mysite.com) it loads up with that successful looking default page. I’m logged in, and it’s looking back at me with hopeful aspirations, but alas, clicking on anything but log off is met with an uphappy 404 or a blank stare.
What did I do wrong? Was there some magical incantation I forgot to recite?
On a complete aside, I can get it to work if I activate the network, but then the child blogs are all messed up… To be honest though, I didn’t really want a bunch of mini blogs. OK, that’s just sour grapes, but still I’d like to get BuddyPress working.

No, you’d need to create a totally different plugin to add signature to the Group Forums as it’s using the bbPress 1.0 custom BuddyPress version while that plugin is for the totally revamped bbPress 2.+ .
There was a plugin for the old BP1.2/bbPress1.+ but it was not updated for BP 1.5 https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-group-forum-extras/ you could try to update yourself or hire a developer to do so.
Other than the above, you could wait for BP 1.6 where Group Forums will be migrated over to bbPress 2.+ Sitewide Forums where you could use the signature plugin.

I just checked out the BP pages in your site. Looks like you’ve already completed the major part of the compatibility process. The layout structure looks good and you only need to tweak the styles to correct some vertical spacing and removing the bullets from ordered lists, etc.
Thanks @mercime that’s what I thought. But, that seems very odd to me – why not have one that works on both types of forums. This is a pretty basic thing to offer to members.
I know enough php to get myself into trouble, with some guidance do you think I could perhaps edit that plugin to make it work on group forums?
