@storyaday change to bp-default theme and check if issue is corrected. If so, contact your custom theme author about the issue.
Don’t be too hasty to post a review until you’ve determined the cause of the issue 
Also it’s worth checking carefully what a plugin says it’s tested to / works with. If a plugin does not say at least BP1.5 personally I would avoid it.

@babray for multisite installations @valuser‘s recommendation is spot on. For single WP installations, you could consider http://buddydev.com/buddypress/blog-categories-for-groups-plugin/
@khanyay what theme are you using? If you’re using a WP theme and activated BP Template Pack plugin and gone through Appearance > BP Compatibility. Make sure that you did not deactivate bp.css in the final panel.
That plugin has been tested up to WP 3.0.1 only == BP 1.2.6/1.2.7. It’s just weird that your site went down before even activating the plugin and that you don’t see the plugin’s folder in wp-content/plugins/ since that’s where you should manually uninstall/delete the folder.
– Check wp-content/uploads/ folder via FTP and see if the zip file of the plugin is there and delete it. If by chance the kaltura plugin was unzipped there, delete it as well.
– if the above doesn’t work, then rename the whole plugins folder from wp-content/plugins to wp-content/plugins-xx. You can rename it to correct folder name later.
I just installed this plugin – didn’t even activate it yet – and my entire site went down. For some reason I’m unable to post this as a review on the developer/plugin page.
Is there a way to manually uninstall a plugin? I don’t even see it listed in the plugin folder when I ftp to my site.

@mercime Well, testing the theme on it’s own on my local server shows that comments work without issues, so I don’t think it’s a theme issue.
@Hugo, The problem described by the first poster, perfectly fit my situation, So i thought it would be fine to chime in with my voice here. I actually thought I was doing something good to keep forums threads to a minimum. I’ll be sure to start a new thread next time.
I haven’t de-activated the theme, because unfortunately, the site is now live, and I didn’t test it thoroughly before launch. So I geuss I’ll get it setup up a dev server and then do the testing you suggest.
In general, besides plugin conflicts and permalinks, are there any other culprits? server side things?

@artisantopia do post the pastebin url for content-page.php file. If you don’t have it, do ask the theme author where `et_template_part( ‘content’, themeblvd_get_part( ‘page’ ) )` is so I can help you fix alignment of the BP template files.

there is a plugin out there that tells you what template is being parsed, but it does not seem to work on buddypress. that would be a huge benefit for folks who are not as familiar with the buddy press system as others are… just sayin
Hi @mercime I have the same problem. WP 3.3.1 and BP 1.5.4. I’m using a child theme based off a Theme from themeforest.net (Gratitude – http://themes.zenthemes.net/gratitude/ )

Hi there New to the forum, and spent the past week getting my hands dirty in BuddyPress, love it!
I’m using the latest version of WordPress and BuddyPress.
I’m looking to remove the function that allows users to write blog posts. I’m using the system to allow users to register, connect with each other, add groups and events (using Events Manager plugin) but the blog is exclusively for posting event reports, photography and video by the administrator and staff only.

I turned on forums for groups when I installed buddypress – but I can’t see where to manage the forums.
Do I have to separately install bbPress?
I want to be able to limit access to a group / forum based on the user role (managed through a membership plugin). How do I limit access based on role?

Doesn’t look like there’s a filter you can us before it makes the query. You could filter the query itself — bp_activity_get_user_join_filter — however, that’s obviously not the most robust solution.

HI! I would so love it if someone could PLEASE help me fix my theme to work with Buddypress.
I have set up a test site using the same theme as the live site I want to add Buddypress to. You can see the test site here http://artisantopia.net/testsite/
The theme is Alyeska, set up with a child theme.
I ran the template pack and created header-buddypress.php and footer-buddypress.php files which I placed in the alyeska-child folder. Is that the right place to put them or should they go in the parent theme folder?
But the theme is still a mess!

I was looking through on this page http://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/custom-buddypress-loops/the-activity-stream-loop/ ; and in the actual function docs to see the filtering options and scope options to use for such a task. I didn’t see an exclude option for user_id just activity_id. Seems if it has include exclude shouldn’t be too difficult. right?
I see the ability to include user_ids to be queried and that it can be an array of user_ids, most likely for the single member pages. But this is inclusive and I would like to exclude some users from the main activity wall. Say user A doesn’t want to see user B’s updates anymore because they are negative… I wouldn’t want to include all members but user B that seems silly.

to allow me to do a filter hook on bp_has_activities after it’s queried, however I thought it would be better to do it on the query itself and not after.
Any thoughts if someone has run into this sort of thing before or has any ideas? If not I will most likely go with unsetting the activities array but seems to me it would be so much faster to have it inside the query to do…

When i’m trying to figure out where templates are located, if i’ve forgotten – i look at the url path first, if it’s at members/*something* i’ll look inside the /members/single directory and the component (in this case /members/single/activity), if it doesn’t seem to exist there, i turn to the secondary component directory (in this case /activity/) But… that’s just me.
where in the world is the template file for the page that is generated for individual activity entries. ie the page found at the following url for a normal buddypress/wordpress install:
members/%name%/activity/%id%

@johnnyscience http://ohiocannabis.com/forums/forum/medical would be the normal structure of a default sitewide install. /forums/ is the slug of the sitewide forums directory and /forum/ refers to the specific forum – medical.
However when I go to ohiocannabis.com/forums/ I get a “The forums component has not been set up yet.” error which leads me to think that there’s a conflict of the /forums/ slug between Group Forums and Sitewide Forums or that you have not created a page named Forums and added the bbPress shortcode on that page.

See if the instructions below to fix alignment will work for you:
You will only need to create two new files, header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php
If you’ve revised any of the BP template files transferred to your unstandard theme folder in server during the BP Compatibility process, please delete the 6 BP folders transferred to your Unstandard theme folder in server – activity, blogs, forums, members, groups, register – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility again to make sure that you have clean template files.
A. COPY your theme’s header.php and Save As > header-buddypress.php
Open up header-buddypress.php and at the BOTTOM of the file, below other code contained within, add this:
