Theoretically it’s possible, but I would really discourage it at this point. You’re basically contemplating taking some 100+ files (I’m guestimating that number, it might actually be closer to 200) from a BuddyPress compatible theme and making them all accessible in the WordPress theme editor. It would be an absolute nightmare.
It sounds like you would need create another folder in your root install of wordpress and title it something like “community”. Then create a bran-new WordPress install in the folder and then install BuddyPress. You’ll effectively have 2 WordPress installs. The one on your “main” site will just be what people look at. But the 2nd install in your community folder will be where people will create accounts, interact, i.e. basically everything else that BuddyPress does.
@travel-junkie Can you explain what each of the functions are doing? I’m still not fully understanding this.. sorry

Yes Paul, the problem still remains after the users log in. I have some test accounts, and after logging in each of those accounts, their activity does show up in the stream, but still on the members tab it shows no users. (this is the case for both the “existing users” and “new users” that I created after the switch.) When a new user registers, or an old user signs in for the first time, I do notice that the wp_bp_xprofile_data table updates to show the user added, however the “members” tab still shows “Sorry, no members were found.”
I looked at the filters Tom… good thought, but no luck. Still shows no members with each of the filters selected.
I reinstalled BuddyPress and dropped all the old tables and pretty much started from scratch as far as BP is concerned this afternoon with a fresh install. Still having the same issue.
I am at a loss. Any other ideas out there?

Jennifer, does the problem remain after at least one of those users have logged in (after you’ve activated BuddyPress)?

I’m using latest branch which will be 1.2.6 on a pretty busy site at the moment (http://xfactor-updates.com/members/) and it’s extremely stable so far.
One thing I would say is that if you are upgrading & using a custom theme, you will have to make some updates to your functions.php.
Code to display join/leave group buttons and so on, secondary activity stream avatars as well as localisation for a few JS terms will need to be added.
All required code can be found in the latest bp-themes/bp-default/functions.php

John was going to put it out yesterday (Sunday) afternoon at WC NYC. John, Boone and I decided to grab a room which wasn’t planned for anything else and just wrote “BuddyPress” on the schedule. We thought we’d have a couple of questions and then time to get the release out and do some planning.
However, we had a fantastic response and had a lot of people coming in and asking all sorts of questions about BuddyPress. I want to let John release 1.2.6, as it’s his baby. I know John’s flying back home today — and I’m flying home tomorrow — so hopefully sometime this week? I really have nothing else to say other than sorry
@pascoa341 I would recommend finding resolution at WordPress Multisite Forums https://wordpress.org/support/forum/multisite – it would involve changing URL’s within SQL file and changing some lines in .htaccess file.
@chouf1 thanks for the links! Unfortunately it looks like the classified stuff is a bit too in depth. I just need a very simple directory of names and addresses that is searchable. A classififed plugin might be a bit overkill for this one but thanks so much for your reply!
@netweblogic Yeah, Otto et al have certainly beefred up the WP.org forums both for users and plugin authors. And, thanks for being proactive in upgrading your plugins There’s no favoriting for the bp.org forums at this time. Perhaps, when @johnjamesjacoby rolls out the new bbPress plugin, that issue could be addressed then. In the meantime, https://buddypress.org/community/groups/creating-extending/feed/ for this group.

r.e. buddypress, over time we’d be interested in doing whatever’s necessary to plug em into the right parts of buddypress, Groups, personal profile, etc.

You can change the links by creating a Child Theme so your revisions won’t be overwritten when BP is upgraded.
You won’t find the BP menus in the Appearance > Menu unless you revise the links in navigation menu an code navigation menus function in your theme’s functions.php file and add the template tag for that in header.php – https://codex.wordpress.org/Navigation_Menus

Hi @dzulfriday The BP Gallery plugin by @sbrajesh can accomplish what you need. It’s a premium plugin at this time. Don’t let the RC version deter you, many of us have been using it in live sites since early this year and support by Brajesh is excellent – the plugin is updated per BP/WP upgrades etc. The Site Admin can allow or disallow user-created albums and can limit album creation by groups only or by users only or both if you prefer. And so much more features are available and working.

What plugin did you used? I assuming that you are using BuddyPress oEmbed for BuddyPress or BuddyPress Link. The problem is in those plugins rather than BuddyPress.
