Participant@pcwriter I was referring to BP’s handling of WP post comments which is borked – perhaps this thread wasn’t really talking about WP comments/replies?.

CR
ParticipantDon’t know if this was anyone else’s issue, but this was my problem and the solution I found.
PROBLEM: jcrop function wouldn’t work after an avatar was uploaded either on the registration or edit avatar pages within buddypress. The image and thumbnail would show, but there was no crop box to change what was selected for the thumbnail. Very frustrating.
SOLUTION: stupidly simple once I finally found it – for some reason there was no link to the external jcrop javascript file appearing in the header of the pages! (This can be checked by viewing the page source of the problem pages via your browser) To fix this I edited the bp-core-cssjs.php file which is inside the bp-core folder inside buddypress. Right after this line:
`$aspect_ratio = (int) constant( ‘BP_AVATAR_FULL_WIDTH’ ) / (int) constant( ‘BP_AVATAR_FULL_HEIGHT’ ); ?>`
I added:
`<script src="/wp-includes/js/jcrop/jquery.Jcrop.js”>`
And now the crop tool is showing up and everything works perfectly!
Note that you may need to change the path to the Jcrop.js file depending on your site setup. Before this I had also downloaded the latest version of jcrop from http://deepliquid.com/content/Jcrop.html and updated it on my site, so I don’t know if that plays in at all or not.Anyway, don’t know if that helps anyone else, but it did the trick for me so I figured I’d share it just in case.

Participantedited your post mercime to correct / complete the backticks.
Christian struggling to believe you still have an issue some 3 weeks on and that huge long list of links is a bit odd. The explanation that this is only apparent with logged in views is also odd, try and get your install to an absolute and clean bp-default with no modifications anywhere.
Removing the wp_footer() call doesn’t cause any huge layout issues for me apart from knocking out the adminbar, it will be interesting to find out what the issue is.

ParticipantFor those who are in the same situation, check if this is in your theme’s footer :
‘<?php
/* Always have wp_footer() just before the closing
* tag of your theme, or you will break many plugins, which
* generally use this hook to reference JavaScript files.
*/wp_footer();
?>’It wasn’t in mine, I add it and it fixed my problem.
September 4, 2010 at 5:59 pm #91538@mercime
ParticipantThat happens when there’s no ` `before the closing “ in theme’s footer.php, But since you already mentioned that you’ve using bp-default theme (which you activated in Appearance > Themes) then lack of wp_footer is not the problem. Some thoughts:
– Re-upload BuddyPress plugin files via FTP
– Deactivate all plugins (including mu-plugins) except BuddyPress, and see if same behavior applies.September 4, 2010 at 5:50 pm #91537christian_gnoth

September 4, 2010 at 5:34 pm #91534In reply to: Even default theme not working.
@mercime
ParticipantIs your WP single site or multisite? Test WP functions first before installing BuddyPress to isolate the problems you have in your install. Run Settings > Permalinks and set it to other than default. Deactivate BuddyPress and qTranslate. Now go change themes in WordPress site – is the theme layout showing as expected? Upload media in site. If you’ve gone multisite, upload media in subsite/blog also, are images showing up in posts with WP default theme (twentyten) on for main site and subsite? If answer to either is no, then you have to resolve those issues first before installing BuddyPress by going to https://wordpress.org/support/

ParticipantWP and BP versions? WP is single or multisite?
“I just upgrade a bunch of plugins”
Which plugins did you upgrade? Did you re-run Settings > Permalinks?“I have buddypress in a folder named /community/ “
Is your WP installed in root and BP installed in /community/ subdirectory or is WP installed in /community/ folder?September 4, 2010 at 4:43 pm #91527In reply to: Buddypress followers plugin profile problem

Participant@antonrsa it’s the div id=”content” that has the ajax working, i’d start by renaming that class in your followers template just to see if the page links work.
if so, you might have to add some styling for your new div.September 4, 2010 at 2:45 pm #91522In reply to: Buddypress followers plugin profile problem
Anton
Participant@travel-junkie – look at these two sites:http://mychatbox.me/anton/following/ and @nuprn1 site http://etivite.com/members/antonrsa/following/
Click on “2” to view the rest of the people I’m following. It doesn’t load. On buddypress.org it doesn’t work that way as it is a full link you have to click as I have explained above “..followers/?upage=2 “. Is it possible to make it work the same way as buddypress.org is working without the ajax?

ParticipantLook at ‘cometchat’ for buddypress. It’s a premium plugin you pay for but it’s as close to facebook chat as possible. Very easy to install and reliable!

@mercime
ParticipantThis BP.org site is currently undergoing some Ninja renovations. Not quite sure why the links you gave are redirecting to different BuddyPress plugins in this site. I got Eventlite the first time then gPress the second time I clicked on the link. Might be because plugins are good to WP 2,9,2 but then so are some other plugins.tagged buddypress
@boonebgorges ping! BP Ninja LeadEDIT- Thank you for your patience. Housekeeping is most probably ongoing.
All plugins listed in BP.org extend plugins are available in WordPress.org plugin repository

ParticipantSome are confused.
The object plugin is BuddyPress Template Pack.
The relative URL is https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-template-pack/
But the actual plugin is gPress.September 4, 2010 at 1:17 am #91489OnlyBlue
