ParticipantAny suggestions on what to do? we have tried this on all versions of the top 3 browsers, different size of images, file types, etc and cannot update.
We get an error on page when attempting to do so.
This started happening about a week ago for us as well. When the image is uploaded there is a box that appears with resizing handles, and disappears as soon as you click on it. Very frustrating for our 225 members for our new site we just launched using buddypresshere are the details:

smurkas
MemberOk so I think I figured this out. I used the Skeleton component to do this and you need to change a couple of things in order for it to work. First of all, the component registers itself too late so bp_core_add_root_component() won’t work.
Change line 45 of loader.php to
add_action( ‘bp_include’, ‘bp_example_init’ );This will register the component before Buddypress sets up the URI:s and thus giving you a chance of adding your own root component.
Then for registering my own root component I did this:
function bp_example_setup_root_component() {
/* Register ‘example’ as a root component */
bp_core_add_root_component( BP_EXAMPLE_SLUG );
}
add_action( ‘bp_setup_root_components’, ‘bp_example_setup_root_component’ );Lastly you need to setup your own screen functions. Following BP:s way of doing things I created
function bp_example_screen_example() {
global $bp, $wpdb;
if ( $bp->current_component != BP_EXAMPLE_SLUG )
return false;
die(“Example screen!”);
}
add_action( ‘wp’, ‘bp_example_screen_example’, 3 );Now that last function will catch everything that arrives on the example slug so you probably want to make it more picky so to speak.

Participant@r-a-y thanks that function did remove the slash at the end, and the link works now, but before using you code the “remove avatar” link at the end didn’t work either. It just redirect to the homepage and keeps the old avatar.. can you please look at this again and see what may be the cause?!
thanks

Participant@jeremy The client actually requested to put it back because they liked the push like notifications and some of the other features but after thinking about it and seeing @leguis reply I may try to add those.
Tremendous thanks @Sara ! this really gives users a concise and intuitive view of what they’re able to do with the features BP provides.

KeymasterBy default, BuddyPress uses the user_nicename column in the DB and not the user_login. Make sure your user_nicename is the same as your user_login.
Or you can add the following line to wp-config.php:
define( 'BP_ENABLE_USERNAME_COMPATIBILITY_MODE', true );July 17, 2010 at 5:11 pm #86035In reply to: New Sliding AJAX Login Panel Plugin for BuddyPress

Participant1. Did you change settings like BuddyPress > General Settings – Hide for logged out users?
2. Did you change your theme? Did you check if your new theme had wp_footer() in footer.php?July 17, 2010 at 3:35 pm #86023In reply to: BuddyPress on Separate Blogs

KeymasterIt’s going to be more complicated to save items into wp_usermeta (which is I assume what you’re doing, given the link) with update_user_meta() from the BP profile page. You’ll have to hook a function to somewhere in the BP loading process that will catch the value of $_POST and manipulate the data manually.
Can I ask what might be a silly question? Why don’t you just use BP profile fields? Dashboard > BuddyPress > Profile Field Setup. That’ll add new fields to the profile that can be displayed and updated natively through BuddyPress.

Participant@mvvspr Sorry, I don´t know about this would save bandwidth, but maybe! I thought just about usability.

I hope this could solved! hrhrJuly 17, 2010 at 12:56 pm #86011mvvspr
Participant+1 for the idea of ajax button for members,groups and blogs directory.This would be cool.
@sicksight
Does this save bandwidth?
I am not a developer, I am asking just for knowledge.July 17, 2010 at 12:33 pm #86006Boone Gorges
KeymasterOpen buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/members/single. Individual member profiles are created with profile.php and profile/profile-loop.php. There are do_action definitions throughout those templates. Try hooking your function to anyone of them.

Participant@r-a-y this helped me out so much… you have no idea. Thank you!
One more question, though, if you are available to help.
Is there a way to turn an xprofile field into a tag? I’m trying to track posts by country so we could then click on the country and see all the posts from that country. (I have a drop down of all countries as a required registration field.)
Or is there a better way to go about it? I don’t mind learning/doing work, I just have no idea how to go about it. Any ideas?
Thanks and best wishes,

ParticipantHey @modemlooper !

Thanks for your reply, but it doesn´t work… To remove the action bp_get_displayed_user_nav(), I need the hook to which the function to be removed is hooked.
https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/remove_actionI think bp_get_displayed_user_nav()… isn´t hooked anywhere!

Edit: Need a function like
replace_action( $function_to_replace, $function_to_add, $priority, $accepted_args )!
Like str_replace in php, or something!^^July 17, 2010 at 8:06 am #85980In reply to: If BP is enable conditional tag
