Participant@cavamondo – It might be as simple as the theme activation. Go into the wp-admin and change the theme (e.g. twentyten). See if the site loads after the de-activation.

MemberI think the ajax chat is ok, and it works well with groups in a BuddyPress install, giving each a dedicated chatroom. But the shoutbox is a bit weird, and tends to have a life of its own.
If you want a FB clone, try http://www.arrowchat.com (it even has a Farmville plugin…aaaargh)…but it will cost you at least $65.
I’m very keen to see a videochat app which will integrate with the user database. Blendapps produced a good mashup with userplane for Ning, and it would be great to have something similar.

Participant@wordpresschina – I also tested over the weekend and it worked great for me. But I have one issue I would love to be able to solve…
The e-mail sent out to the new users is the standard WP e-mail (with username, password (sutogenerated) and link to standard WP login screen) and not the one from BuddyPress. I would like to do the following.
1) Change the text of the e-mail.
2) lead people to a custom login pageI know this is not part of the plugin for Ning, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, unfortunately I cannot help you with your two issues, I don’t mind that the username is the name (it actually helps me) and I am not importing any date information, so I don’t have the issue. The best I can do is wish you the best of luck.
Any help on my two above issues would be greatly appreciated.

Participant@angangba – you should probably contact the creator of the plugin for help. I also use CaPa and do not think it supports WP 3.0 yet.

ParticipantThanks @techguy
I’ve added an if statement on the template page underneath get header section to check if the user is logged in and then redirect them with bp_core_redirect but it gives the error of “Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by…./pluggable.php on line 868”
I’ve replaced that with javascript redirect: window.location = “http://mydomain.com/activity” but I’m not to keen on using javascript for redirection.

ParticipantJust to clear up what @mercime and @hnla said, BP 1.2.4 was, in fact, released to not only fix outstanding issues in the 1.2.x branch, but to also improve support for WP 3.0:
This highly anticipated version provides fixes to 74 reported tickets and adds improved support for WordPress 3.0 to help ensure a safe and worry free upgrade. (https://buddypress.org/2010/05/buddypress-1-2-4/).
There has been a ticket reported as stated in a earlier post to this topic. From looking at Trac, it looks like there might be a 1.2.5 release since WP 3.0 won’t be out until mid-June at the earliest, and the BP 1.3 branch can’t really be finalized until WP 3.0 is stabilized/finalized. This is obviously an issue people are having, so if anyone wants to go and add some info to the ticket about your setup it would likely help get the issue resolved.

Participant@r-a-y I have BP on several installs of WPMu (all latest versions) with the same results. http://terryhall.biz (root site) & http://wp4seo.com (secondary site) – the avatars are not active links but the user name has a link ~ http://geeky.terryhall.biz/author/mrcleam which is not pulling avatar from http://terryhall.biz/members/mrclean –
Comment avatars are working. This was not a problem in BP 1.2.3 ~ is the “bp_root_blog” a new feature? Seems to be related to capability….June 6, 2010 at 3:56 am #80784In reply to: Where Can I find ver #s????

Participant@yocalif The wordpress version should be showing at the bottom when you login to the dashboard. For buddypress, you can go into the plugins and it’ll list each plugins version number.

ParticipantFor buddypress, you can start with the readme.txt in the downloaded file
For WPMU, you can start with this: https://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WPMUJune 5, 2010 at 9:29 pm #80777In reply to: where are the buddypress themes?

ParticipantI just tried this on WordPress 3.0 RC2 and Buddypress 1.2.4 and have exact same issue as @brett (3 weeks ago). If I type activity after the main url I can see the stream… Trying to upgrade to 3.0 to fix the timestamp issue with personal messages, but this issue is worse so re-loading back to 2.9.2 until this issue is resolved….

Participant@r-a-y cheers for that. I’m still totally rubbish at coding anything but it now works a treat!
I’ve got the forum as the default tab now and have it first in the list of tabs. Is there a simple way to rename the Home tab to ‘Group Activity’ ?
Thanks again r-a-y

ParticipantWell, I found a better way of doing this, without BuddyPress. After a week of fighting with it for 12 hours a day, I looked for other solutions and found Pligg (http://www.pligg.com). This does *everything* I want, and some more. A couple of hours to modify the base theme into what I want, and all’s well. Thanks to those who offer their help and time.

ParticipantHi Kaberi,
Same problem here. Has anyone got any idea how this might be solved? Everything else seems to be working perfectly.
Perhaps there is a setting somewhere I have not got right, but given you testing, seems that it is not me or my settings.
Love BuddyPress but this is quite a big issue IMHO, any suggestions to solve it would be warmly welcomed.
Paul
PS Am using subdomains for guest blogs, could that be the issue?
