Awesome.

OK, since it will probably disable the embeds each and every time a non-super edits the page, please do the following then:

1) Save a copy of the current page as a draft so @karmatosed can recover it if necessary

2) Remove all the manually pasted plugin links and statuses …(it will be much easier to edit them in the master spreadsheet).

3) Paste these three blocks of markup under the respective headings

@foxly Thanks. Yeah, it must be stripping iframe tags from non-Administrators. (And this is a separate install from wordpress.com, so it doesn’t have the googleapps shortcode.) Anyway, I’ve put them in there: https://codex.buddypress.org/releases/1-5-plugin-compatibility/

Not sure what’ll happen when a non-Admin edits the page; they may get stripped again. I’ll try to figure out a way around this.

@boonebgorges We’ve spent the better part of an hour trying to debug the BP codex page, but it won’t render the Google Docs embed, even when we add it in the admin back end.

WordPress.com officially supports Google Docs embeds announcement, support page, and the embed works properly on several different test sites we tried it on. The problem seems exclusive to buddypress.org.

Could you guys up one of us to super admin for a bit so we can check if it’s stripping embeds by normal editors as some sort of spam control measure?

If you try the group hierarchy mod perhaps so.. but each forum would belong to the subgroup. So that might not help you.

There’s also this plugin for stand alone forums: http://buddydev.com/plugins/global-forums/

I know it’s not the answer you might have wanted but it’s something to work with. The way BuddyPress is designed the forum is the official discussion board for a specific group. I visualize them as interest groups so having more than one forum per group breaks their identity IMHO.

The way the main forums works, its like a post-scanner for all group forums so you would end up with something more confusing to the end user who’s seeing:

TOPIC | POSTER | GROUP

There is no section that prints the forum itself just the group. However you could try instead just using different groups so its like:

TOPIC | POSTER | Group-a
TOPIC | POSTER | Group-b
TOPIC | POSTER | Group-c

I recommend the Group Hierarchy mod then the parent group owner can still more or less control everything.

Alright solved again. Turns out there was a mistake in my code. Here’s the breakdown:

Old Code:

Initially I wanted the post to store custom metadata, but that turned out to be a pain in the neck to use, and unnecessarily complicated. So, I decided to store tags instead. The problem, I discovered, was that the function was using the post_id to store the tags, which apparently isn’t how it’s supposed to work. What I should have one was instead topic_id instead, since that’s what tags are attached to (according to the bb_terms_relationships table).

So I modified my function accordingly and ended up with

And it worked, testing it on the latest stable WordPress (3.2.1) and BuddyPress (1.2.9) and so far so good. If the code is solid, I hope somebody benefits from this. if It isn’t, I hope somebody can point out the holes in it, so I can plug them up.

Answer to my question:

It is already My sites in BuddyPress 1.5.

For 1.2.9, translate the po file from buddypress/bp-languages directory.
Save the translation as buddypress-en_US.mo [if your local is en_US) else buddypress-your_Locals.mo in the bp-languages directory and you will be done.

Poedit is a great tool for translation.

I’m just guessing here but it’s possible something to do with how permalinks are setup?

What is your permalink structure? I dont have this issue on my BuddyPress 1.2.9 site.

Which version are you using of BP and WP?

Hello,
I was curious if anyone knew where to properly customize my WordPress Multisite so I can change the title “My Blogs” to “My Sites” instead.

I know that a /blog slug is created for users so I wanted to know how to do this correctly without breaking the site or my permalinks.

Good mod modemlooper posted there and I use it too. I think it’s got some premium features for Yahoo integration too etc…

I’ve found one service that can compile all your friends emails from facebook and once you have that list you can do what you like with it.

You can always create an event page on FB, invite all your friends there and in the event page you post your website URL inviting them to your site I guess..

I’m pretty sure that is completely against Facebook terms of service. They’ve blocked Google from accessing your contacts as well as other services. They do not want you stealing your friends away from their advertisers.

This may help with getting users to invite https://buddypress.org/community/groups/invite-anyone/

I actually have two questions:
1. How would i add more fields to the group creation page…i tried editing the PHP and got lost. I really don’ t know buddypress that well and my PHP/Mysql skills are basic. I tried editing it and the button the continue to the next step just disappeared. I also already have that plug in that allows you to add fields as a group administrator but what i want is to make certain fields standard for all groups.

2.I have an excel file and with about 700 capoeira groups. How can I put make that available in my buddypress site.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated. When i tried to edit the PHP/Mysql my button to continue to the next step just disappeared..i’m using the BuddyBoss theme and my site is http://caradacapoeira.com

I’ve been searching for this for days but it seems that all I can find is stuff from a year ago and nothing is working for me.

I would like to change my title tag for my forum topic page from:
Site Name | Groups | Group Name | Forum | Topic Title

To:

Topic Title | Site Name

If someone can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

@r-a-y – you were absolutely right and I have to apologize for a great deal of my frustration here was relieved when sometime around 5am this morning I changed my google search parameters and stumbled upon the BP ticket trac thing you posted above.

I found Boones fix and applied it. Then I had to also update the permalinks.php file in my custom theme folder as well and it worked.

So I want to thank you and the team for being on top of things as it’s quite clear once I found that ticket queue that people are actively working bugs.

When users come looking for support on the site though the first place they look and land is here and it looked like there was no responses for ages. I’ll be sure to hang around and help others as best I can too.

I am using the wpDirAuth plugin to Active Directory users into my Buddypress installation. I’m wondering if it is possible to show or hide elements depending on if the current user is an AD user or not.

For example, I’d like to hide the Change Password fields in the user’s settings if they are an AD user but still have them visible if they are not an AD user.

Is that possible?
