I’m sorry, but we tested on several themes. It has nothing to do with the theme; forget I ever mentioned the theme at all.
I’m starting to understand why the search is not working. Apparently only the administrator has access to the members directory (?) Anyone should have access to that, otherwise a profile search doesn’t work I’m afraid.
So I suspect that’s an authority problem.
So no plugins to be able to invite people other than the not working one which says when trying to install that it has not been tested yet for my version of WP?
People can’t invite eachother, because they can’t search eachother and therefore are clueless who else is on the network, furthermore group search isn’t working either, so they’re clueless as well which groups they might be interested in because there’s no list of them.
You really never had anyone who found these problems a limitation?

This is also specific to BuddyPress… I have an updates status bar at the bottom of my website that scrolls through the recent updates to the website (posts, pb activity, comments, etc) and all the links work from that bar (if there is a new posts, you can clik, and it takes you to the post’s page)… except for BuddyPress links, you click to view the recent update and it, once again, redirects you to the homepage.
@Boone, I agree, you would be able to change twitter accounts after login. Current twit connects do not allow changing accounts.
The issue for users is this scenario; what if every twitter app made you login then re auth just to send tweets? I want to kill the double auth. There is no forcing of Twitter login. If you use WP login then going to your Twitter tab it would ask you to add Twitter. So you either add it at reg. or later or not at all.

I am having the same problem with it currently. It says no post exists when I follow the link. I think the framework for it is good though so I will play with it a bit and see what I can do.

Say, you wouldn’t have any thoughts on how to facilitate multiple registration forms that are compatible with buddypress but use S2members membership levels to decide which registration form to go to? Just a shot in the dark lol.
Yes, I am using the latest version of WordPress, the latest version of Buddypress, and latest version of Suffusion theme. There was no problem a while ago, but now the avatar does not upload on the first page even though it shows successful avatar upload

I’d rather not be forced to use my Twitter login for WP authentication. It’s nice when it’s an option, but to force it might raise privacy concerns, among other things. I would prefer to have the option at registration: use a Twitter login for authentication and get my Twitter account synced automatically, or create a standalone WP login, which can later be linked to my Twitter account if I so wish. (This has the added bonus of allowing me to associate with a different Twitter account at a later date if I want to change.)

Would you rather have a dedicated login/twitter integration or use a separate twitter login such as twitconnect for the connect part and a separate app for sending receiving tweets? PLEASE SAY BELOW.
The problem currently is there are connect/login plugins and then there is something like BuddyStream which requires a user to also approve another plugin access to Twitter after they have already used a login/connect. I would rather have one login with ability to send receive tweets but many already use connect plugins.
I don’t get any cropping issues so my first thoughts would be you say you have a version of the default theme from an older BuddyPress install. Can you try the newer version that came with 1.2.9 please? Also do you have any issues with other media uploading say through the media uploader?
What @mercime means is that several of your questions are dependent on the theme you’ve purchased, ‘executive’. WPMU.org is not the official WordPress site, but is a private company that sells themes and plugins. It’s not possible for people on this free forum to provide support for a theme that is sold privately; you should go to wpmu.org for that.
General BuddyPress questions are welcome here, though. For instance,

BuddyPress does not add a members directory to your Dashboard. You can find a members list at Dashboard > Users (or Dashboard >Network Admin > Users on Multisite)
I don’t understand, I’m having questions about the buddypress plugin and it’s functionalities not about wordpress.
@katje we’d like to help you but we don’t have free access to the theme. You should be able to get free support at WPMU.org or where you bought the theme.

I wanted to take a quick moment and let everyone know our issue has been resolved. What seems to have gone awry was a suPHP configuration that was correctly allowing WordPress side uploads go through with permission 644, but not Buddypress. We run a VPS, so I had the provider’s technicians reconfigure the suPHP settings to allow both WordPress and Buddypress uploads to automatically be set to permission level 644. As of now, things seem to be running smoothly.
So if you’re running a VPS or anything else where you can control the suPHP and PHP settings, be sure to give them a look and ensure they’re behaving as if they were running a shared hosting setup. By default, they are not as open as WordPress and Buddypress need to operate correctly.

My name is Katje and we just loaded the executive child theme from WPMU en added buddypress to the site. The site is a knowledgeportal and one of the extra features is a fully integrated social network.
Most important for a social network is the possibility to search members en to invite people.
I found some buddypress plugins, but they don’t work with WP 3.1.
Does any of you have a different solution than the existing plugins?
Furthermore I’m looking for simple ways to change the design, it’s way too basic the way it looks now. For instance the forum for the groups does not really look like a forum, it looks like some short sentences all thrown together;
Don’t get me wrong, I love the buddypress plugin, but I’m just missing some essential plugins and design editor possibilities.
Can anyone help me?

Hi there, I have a quick question, I’m using BuddyPress on my dad’s site and he asked me if it’s possible to limit the creation of groups to only the admin, which in this case is himself, is there any roundaround that I can write directly in the code to just have him or any other designated admin to create groups and not the other type of users?

Here is some additional information — I don’t really think that it will make much difference — but if so, awesome.
Side note, I did edit my theme’s function.php to hard code in the address of http://totallymi.com but it did not change the fact that the BP activity stream is redirecting to the homepage vs the appropriate member’s stream.
