Topic: BuddyPress Notifications
Is it possible to show notifications on a BuddyPress site when something new happens like a comment on a users post or new private message?
So for example something like this:
`
Notifications ( 2 )
`
EDIT: Just to confirm, I don’t use the BuddyPress Admin Bar, not sure if had something like this already, but basically I want to show a box with a number of notifications ie 2 and then when the user clicks the box it shows the new ones and resets the number to 0.
Is there a reference that gives me the functions associated with certain actions? or do I have to search through all of the buddypress files? I’m looking for the function associated with
`do_action( ‘bp_after_signup_profile_fields’ )` as well as a several other registration actions.Hi guys
I’m facing a big problem after updating my wordpress from 3.0.4 to 3.0.5.
With buddypress active (version 1.2.7), I don’t have access to “edit.php?post_type=page”, so I can’t modify my pages. I get a 500 Internal server error (CHMOD for edit.php is default 644)
But, I have access to “wp-admin/edit.php” so I can manage my post.
I can’t find any information about this problem.
Help
Hi there,
I’m using the plugin Buddypress Profile Privacy for controling who could view which profile fields on the profile page.
What I need now is a way/plugin to control who can edit certain profile fields and when (during registration & on the profile page)… Is this possible?
Cheers
AdamI just installed buddypress and am using the default buddypress theme in hopes that I can get everything functioning correctly easily. So far everything works except for the forums. I used the Forums Setup link and set up a new bbpress installation on my server. I can see the tables in my database and the bb-config,php file. The bb-config.php file contains the same info as my wp-config.php file. When I try to post a new topic (with a group attached to it), it adds the new topic to the database. The problem is when you try to view the topic it redirects to the homepage, making me assume the link isn’t correct. Is there a specific link structure for viewing the topic? Below is a link to a page showing the forum topic. Clicking on the link to view the post just redirects to the homepage. Please help. I am very interested in getting this running smoothly. I have researched everywhere and I feel like it is something simple that I am just missing since I can’t find a topic about it.
http://highroulette.com/forum/forums/ – this is a link to the forum section of the buddypress install (the homepage of the buddypress install is located on at highroulette.com/forum separate from a different site, the goal being to add a community section to the site)
http://highroulette.com/forum/groups/former-and-current-rams-fans/forum/topic/sam-bradford/ – this is the link that just redirects back to the homepage of the buddypress install (located at http://highroulette.com/forum)
Thanks and I know this might be simple but I have been trying to figure it out on my own for some time and am growing frustrated since I don’t even know if that is the right link structure for viewing the post.
Topic: Activity Confusion
Hi i am using buddypress links at articles.howwherewhat.in and i want to knwo how to enable anonymus link posting how buddypress links.
Please helpw me. I dont know how to edit the code.
ALso i would like all the links to display in the home page. Please help me how this can be done
I am building a website using BuddyPress for a community that can share multimedia work at University. Users can comment on each others posts and ‘Like them’ using the BP-Like plugin.
However I have noticed a problem with the activity stream! If a user views the stream and sees the follow message “Cameron has posted ‘New Portfolio Design'” they could and probably would comment and like it right there on the stream instead of visiting the post. The problem is that they haven’t actually liked or commented on the post but on the actual activity itself! So in effect they would need to comment and like TWICE for it to work as intended. Basically the whole activity stream is completely alien to the WP core comments.
Has anyone else run into this issue with BuddyPress? Why on earth is the activity comments separate from post comments?? As in its current format I can’t possibly use the stream as it’s completely cut-off from my entire site!
