Participantok, i started from 0 again, its my 4th day trying to make it work, 8 hours day, I am FRUSTRATED, now:
bbpress alpha 6
BP 1.0.1
wordpress mu 2.7.1
I followed ALL the steps in this post (https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=471&page=5), I know them by heart already, users are shared in bbpress and wordpress, if i log on as admin in wordpress i am logged in also in bbpress, cookies seem to work but….
…still not able to create a group with forum, nothing is updated in bbpress after creating the group, i think its because of cookies but I did ALL as commented so I am REALLY lost
(( so bbpress alpha 6 doesnt work for me, i tried rc1 and rc3 also

ParticipantUhm… I just joined and left a group for testing and all that shows up on the activities is blank space. In the feed, there is just an empty item with only the date set. Additionally, this error showed up when I left the group:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_group_avatar_thumb() in /[path to WPMU]/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-groups/bp-groups-templatetags.php on line 309

ParticipantOk, I really want to know it. It is already a test for me.
What, if this happens to me on a live site. I want to handle this error without loosing the running installation.
I deleted all buddypress files and renewed all with a fresh download of buddypress. The error is still there.
The same I did with mu. I deleted all mu files except the wp-content folder.
but the error still accursed.
So I think it must be the db.
I tried to change my password from the admin aria, there I can change my password without problem.
But from the profile site, I get a blank page.
Some idea ?

ParticipantHi Manoj,
How can you tell? I though the buddypress was installed correctly. It did take me 2 go and I was happy with it. I thought the next part was where the error was.
Thanks,

ParticipantForgot to mention, error is occurring in header, not in logs as OP indicated….. in case you didn’t see screenshot above…

Occurs in Safari and Firefox … tried disabling all plugins and mu-plugins to no avail. It’s a somewhat new error, so trying to think of what could have possibly changed in install as of late besides plugin updates….don’t think the issue occurred in 2.7. …. not sure where to go from here…..
Any feedback or ideas appreciated, getting ready to launch and it’s kind of a bummer to have new users see this as they sign up.

ParticipantI have done everything people appear to be saying, but still don’t get the translation (a very simple change from Avatar to Photo. I made the .po and .mo (using PoEdit) and uploaded them to the server
buddypress-Alumni.po and .mo are in the /bp-languages folder and the bp_custom.php is the /plugs/buddypress folder, with this code
<?php
define( ‘BPLANG’, ‘Alumni’ );
if ( file_exists( BP_PLUGIN_DIR . ‘/bp-languages/buddypress-‘ . BPLANG . ‘.mo’ ) ) {
load_textdomain( ‘buddypress’, BP_PLUGIN_DIR . ‘/bp-languages/buddypress-‘ . BPLANG . ‘.mo’ );
}
?>
Last step seems to be reloading Buddypress (although I’m not sure how to do this).
Any clue what I should be doing differently to get this to work?
Thanks

Participanthi Jeff Sayre, I did the hole thing…. but I still can’t change the password.
I copied the db and data to a new working domain for messing around.
I switched to the default home and member theme. Turned off all plugins and deleted all mu plugins.
Any idea? the rest of mu and buddypress is doing his job correct…..

ParticipantTHE CAUSE FOUND!!!
I found the cause of this issue. So obvious. Everyone who’s having this issue please follow this instruction!!
DON’T REINSTALL THE WORDPRESS OR BUDDYPRESS. You should just follow the steps below.
1. go to siteurl/wp-admin
2. go to setting -> permalinks
3. Change common settings EXCEPT DEFAULT. If you set it as default, the issue occurs.
If this doesn’t work, please reply.
Thank you all!

ParticipantIf you are just on a test site with no data that needs saving, then do a fresh install of everything–this means WPMU and also creating a new MySQL DB.
If not, then as this is WPMU issue and not BuddyPress, the proper place for this support request is on the WPMU forums.

ParticipantI reckon as much as 25% of my users are using ie 6
Well, based on the most recent browser statistics, you have an unusual group of users!
It is very difficult to optimize a theme design for IE6. Are you using a custom theme? If so, look at the header.php file that comes with the default BP theme and make sure that you’ve included the calls to the ie6.css files.
Also, here’s a thread that about IE6 issues that may help out: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=2262#post-14161
I said this in another thread about IE support:
Getting themes of any platform (not just WordPress) to work in all versions of IE can be frustrating and tricky at best, impossible at worst. I would focus on optimizing your users’ IE experience on IE8 and IE7. Some designers are not even supporting IE6 anymore. I wouldn’t even worry about IE5.5 Of course, this is only my opinion.

ParticipantYou are confusing buddypress, which uses /blog/ to refer to the blog page. install it elsewhere, say “wpmu”, and try again

ParticipantThank you all. I solved this problem. I don’t know what’s the cause though.
I just reinstalled whole WordPress MU & BuddyPress. But I didn’t erased the MySQL DB. So I could use whole data base again normally.
If someone is struggling with this issue, Just reinstall them. It’s easiest way I think.

ParticipantYes, rpx just jumps the standard registration process for buddypress which is required. The ideal is to direct rpx users fill the required forms in the profile…
Does your plugin offer such function?

ParticipantSocialpreneur, do you have any stats on your openid sign ups?
Just to clarify, you would like to require that certain form entries be completed when accounts are registered?

ParticipantI am not sure in which sidebar you want to implement this.
If you are talking about blog sidebar in default BP theme.
1. Open sidebar.php from wp-content/themes/bphome/
2. Replace all content with following code
<div id="sidebar">
<?php if ( !function_exists('dynamic_sidebar')
|| !dynamic_sidebar('blog-sidebar') ) : ?>
<div class="widget-error">
<?php _e( 'Please log in and add widgets to this column.', 'buddypress' ) ?> <a href="<?php echo get_option('siteurl') ?>/wp-admin/widgets.php?s=&show=&sidebar=sidebar-4"><?php _e( 'Add Widgets', 'buddypress' ) ?></a>
</div>
<?php endif; ?>
<?php bp_adminbar_notifications_menu(); ?>
</div>3. Check by clicking on any post from main blog.
