Okay I have installed buddypress, wpmu, bbpress latest version.
I have bbpress and wpmu on my mainsite = mainsite.com
I have forum = mainsite.com/forum
I have bbpress members = mainsite.com/members
Now I create blogs for mysef that I personally manager these blogs have a certain function they are for certain people I manage the blog for.
I have 2 blogs (And will create more in future)
– portal.mainsite.com ( central site where everything should come together )
– site1.mainsite.com ( site for a user i maintain )
Now my end result Im aiming at is like this:
1) mainsite.com/members should not be available it should only be available from portal.mainsite.com
2) mainsite.com/forum should not be available it should only be available from portal.mainsite.com/forum
I want users to be able to signup from any blog (portal.mainsite.com, site1.mainsite.com) to register and comment on the blogs and post topics in the forum on portal.mainsite.com/forum
To make it more complicated I would like to have 1 forum per blog ( 1 forum for site1.mainsite.com and 1 forum for portal.mainsite.com and 1 forum for each new blog that Ill be adding ) This forum should not be listed anywhere it should only be available in the blog itself.
Currently I have :
1) Installed wpmu latest + buddypress + bbpress (including integration)
What would be the next step to acchive above results, please give me some advice on this, this seems reasonable complicated!
I think Buddypress should provide this. Isn’t so?
Home Theme + Member Theme + Forum Theme=Complete Social network set
Hi Everyone,
I have setup buddypress latest on the latest wpmu, now on my 1st site (mainsite.com) i can do mainsite.com/members and see all associated members.
Then I have 2 blogs (portal, and demo )
Now I would like to be able to show the /members section NOT on the mainsite.com (currently I can only access it from there ) but this should be disabled. Now i Want it to become available on portal.mainsite.com which is a blog where users can do stuff. This is the only location where the /members link should become accessible
Is this possible?
So basically I dont want the /members to NOT appear on mainsite.com but I do Want it to be available on the portal.mainsite.com ONLY
How would I do such a thing?
Hi there,
I have tried various versions of BP, bbpress and wpmu and I keep hitting a brick wall when it comes to group forums. Any group created by the admin account has a working group forum – any group member can post to it. Any group created by a non-admin has a non-working forum (on checking bbpress it seems that the forum isn’t created). I know that this kind of thing is a common problem but I don’t seem to be able to nail down the exact cause. I’ve followed about 5 or 6 different tutorials, and also tried mixing and matching.. I’ve tried installing buddypress first, bbpress first, using the automated forum setup in the trunk, manual setting up, etc.
Does anyone know of something really obvious I’m missing? I assume that other people must have run into a similar issue as it seems to be a user account permission type problem (caused by lack of user switching? I don’t know..)

Topic: Fake IDs?
I saw a note on fake identities being created on similar sites..I have the same problem. I am just playing with a concept and began to deploy buddypress, and now “members” are showing up totally fake. Interesting thing, they have one thing in common. Names are always FirstnameLastnameYear. Check it out at http://www.tatazara.com Any idea where this is coming from? Is this something widespread?
Okay, I’m having a weird issue. I have some users who when they sign up for an account on my buddypress site never get a confirmation email. And the weird thing is, it is only with people who use verizon.net email addresses. Also, they can’t even find it in their spam folders. Has anyone ever heard of a problem like this? I’m stumped.
We have been brainstorming about the terms of service for our site with Buddypress. In order to build trustworthy community sites, I think transparency about how user data will be stored and handled is not only legally necessary but also essential for the credibility of the project. This thread is to encourage a discussion about terms of service and the handling of user data.
We would like to provide our users with maximum control over the data they store on our plattform. Ideally that means:
- provide complete transparency about what data we store why
- no lock-in: export of content that has been created
- complete deletion of user data when users unsubscribe from our platform
To execute this control does not seem to be trivial with Buddypress.
We identify (at least) three types of data:
- private information that embellishes the user personality such as the profile fields name, place and interests but also private fotos or videos that can be uploaded to the profile via upcoming plugins;
- data that is created by interaction on the platform, such as comments, the activity feed, private messages or the friends network;
- and the content they generate – in our case less blog posts than event posts
Two major questions arise from this:
- Is it technically even possible to erase or export all user data at once a) for admins and b) for users on a Buddypress site?
- Which data do you think should be excluded from user control in order for a community site to keep working properly, i.e. comments or events? And would it be a good choice to set creative commons licenses for certain types of data?
I would love to hear your thoughts and approaches!
Hi: I wonder if this is WordPress MU or buddypress specific? When running a search in the search section, I get the following error: Any idea where I should look?
