    You have to edit it by hand. You can use the Firebug addon to Firefox to get help with which CSS-code to change.

    As far as I know, you only need to do the editing in custom.css. It should override the original settings.

    Versions:

    WPMU 2.8.2

    Buddypress 1.0.3

    BBpress 0.9.0.5

    I’m trying to fully integrate BBpress with Buddypress and am finding some issues. I can’t get the Forum button to appear in the Groups section of Buddypress. It appeared once then went away. Also, in my activity stream I get this error:

    Warning: cannot yet handle MBCS in html_entity_decode()! in /var/www/vhosts/calvarydover.org/subdomains/livedeep/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bp-forums-filters.php on line 53

    Any help?

    Thanks.

    That might be the problem. You need to get WPMU working before worrying about BuddyPress.

    Looking at the URL, it thinks you are trying to register a new hosted blog at “http://waapsols.com/”.

    When you installed WPMU, in the installation screen it asks you for a server name to use. What did you enter? I am guessing you entered your server’s IP address?

    If that’s the case, delete .htaccess and wp-config.php and drop the database, and try reinstalling, but enter “waapsols.com” during the installation.

    Hi there,

    I am excited to work on BuddyPress. I copied the files on my ftp server and started the installation process. First time I got an error, and I was asked to edit the database details on wp-config.php.

    I did so and got the connection working, but now when I enter the url I get an error saying “Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.”

    What maybe causing this error?

    The website is http://www.waapsols.com and its an addon domain on my server.

    The thing is: I only thought I had deactivated the bp-plugin completely (via backend).

    I guess it was removed from the active_sitewide_plugins-field in the sitemeta-table in the database – but it was not removed from the wpmu_sitewide_plugins-field in the same table.

    So the site still worked (no HTTP-500-error), and the umlaut-issue with the p2-theme remained.

    When I then removed the bp-plugin-entry via phpmyadmin from both fields, the “main blog” didn’t appear anymore (error 500), but the two “sub blogs” I have still functioned. And the one sub blog with the P2-theme worked then without the umlaut-issue.

    I hope this clears things up a bit.

    So for me it is pretty clear that the bp-plugin somehow interferes with the P2-editor and causes the umlaut-issue.

    Hello,

    First of all I want to say to all the developers of Buddypress that you folks did a great job! Buddypress is GREAT!

    But, I’m having a tiny question now. I do not want to have widgets on my budypress homepage. Currently the home.php file has some lines like this:

    <?php _e( 'Please log in and add widgets to this column.', 'buddypress' ) ?>

    Is there a way to get rid of those and to add ‘widgets’ by yourself in the template file?

    For e.g. <?php _e(''this_is_the_groups_widget','buddypress') ?>

    I would really like to know if there is an option like this!

    Any help is welcome. Thanks!

    I deactivated the BP-plugin. Problem remains. So it’s probably an issue with WordPress MU and the P2-theme?!

    ?

    I deactivated all plugins via phpmyadmin – in the sitemeta-table as well as in the options-table of the single blogs (there are 3 in my installation right now).

    So the HTTP-500-Error disappeared. And all of a sudden the P2-theme worked properly as well.

    This means: the regular deactivation via backend of the buddypress-plugin didn#t really work. The umlaut-issue with P2-theme seems related to buddypress.

    Hi All!

    Ive recently installed Buddypress 1.03 on WPMU 2.8.2. And I was just wondering how to omit the admin blog from being included in that feed because in my design, the blog posts I write are in the homepage anyway and has its own feed, so I thought , why include the admin blog post on that feed.

    So if I may ask.. How do I remove it???

    Thanks

    I followed the steps in the forum sticky made by Trent to set up bbpress and Buddypress to work together. However, I don’t know how I can make it add recent posts, etc… to the activity stream like buddypress.org does.

    I’m assuming that somebody has figured this out and written about it, but I can’t find it searching through the forums.

    Any help is appreciated

    You have said that the problem occurs on WPMU, and that it does not occur on regular WP. You have also said this problem is not caused by BuddyPress.

    I haven’t got an install of regular WP to test this on, so I am going to assume it is either a WPMU issue *or* you are using an old version of the P2 theme.

    Doing more research I found the following thread in the wp-forum:

    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/273413?replies=2:

    —-

    Mippe: P2 brokes äÄ öÖ åÅ letters when editing. That pretty much sums it all up.

    noel (Administrator): We’re aware of the issue and will fixing this in the next release.

    But I am still unsure: This problem then occurs only with WordPress MU?

    You can view the roadmap at https://buddypress.org/about/roadmap and find for yourself. As Jeff Sayre posted a couple of months back, if you have a question for Nicola, send him a message on this site.

    This post would be two or three months old and out-of-date if it hadn’t kept being bumped by people asking “is it out yet?”. I am tempted to close this thread.

    Try removing or disabling BuddyPress. Does this problem still occur on WordPress MU?

    Hello!

    I have Buddypress 1.0.3 (German) running in WordPress MU 2.8.2 (German) and use the cool P2-Theme (Prologue, german language file), which permits frontend editing and resemblesTwitter. However I experience the problem that with the frontend editing in posts and comments existing umlauts get distorted when the editor field is loaded and opened: Ex.: ä becomes ä, ü becomes à ¼, ö becomes ö and ß becomes ß…

    This remains when the edited text ist saved again. I can however enter and store new umlauts in the editor correctly – the issue concerns in each case only the umlauts transferred from the stored text to the editor. Under WordPress 2.8.3 the P2-theme on the same server runs without any problems. Both installations run under UTF-8 encoding. I don’t know what to check or do?!? Does anyone have any idea how this could be fixed? Thanks a lot in advance!

    yep, you can with some css. the parts you wanna tweak are #header and #main, if i remember correctly. you can also download the Avenue K9 theme from this page https://buddypress.org/extend/themes/ to help you get started, which is optimized for those pesky 1024×768 screens.

    Thanks so do you change it in both? Can’t you have them all the same?

    Also, I believe the css is changable via GUI or on the admin webpage can this be done or do I have to directly edit the css code by hand?

    TIA!

    Roscosys – Please be clear what you want to edit. You can definitely edit the slugs just read this

    https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/

    and the core hack is not advisable – it means we dont advise editing the widget file as it will be overridden when you upgrade.

    Hello all.. I need some tips to start in right direction for the following instances. I want to implement the following things in my home theme.

    1.Extracting the recent blog posts accross my wpmu/buddypress website with thumbnails sof the first image in the post. I have read an article about caching first image of post in wordpress but need some help for mu version.

    2.I dont know have it been asked before or not, but is there any plugin that can make my buddypress admin bar work for external link just like a digg bar.

    3.Helps in adding blogger, wordpress and other blogs /(external) blogs to the member fields, as seen in flokka.com

    Thanks for ur help

    Hi all!

    I’m trying to use a horizontal userbar from BP on a WordPress theme. I’m using the P2-theme (ajaxified twittering) as the “front page” and BP for other social activities.. Instead of using some navigation (forum, blog, etc) I’m only using the userbar from the BP-theme bpmember.

    When using the code from userbar.php

    <div id="userbar">
    <ul id="bp-nav">
    <?php bp_get_nav() ?>
    </div>

    in the header.php in the wordpress theme I’m not seeing the proper userbar (and the optionsbar isn’t showing at all).

    Am I on the right track? Is it possible to call on bp_get_nav within WordPress?

    I’ve called on the functions.php from bpmember-theme and also templatetags.php:

    include_once (TEMPLATEPATH . "/root/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bpcore/bp-core-templatetags.php");

    I’ve placed the /images/ at both places (at wp-theme from bp-theme).

    What am I missing or is this simply not possible?

    This is a vanilla install of the latest WPMU + BP. No strange custom bp functions.

    Would really like some pointers!

    If this is impossible can I somehow get a proper URL for a loged in user to different location? This is a work around. Proper url: root/members/***NAME***/profile. Is it possible to give some hardcoded link to that place? I could rewrite the navigationbar and use that instead.

    //Tore (I’ve really searched the forums for info on this)
