thanks.
I tried searching for the answer to the question but couldn’t find it.
I know WordPress has a list of conditional tags available in their system (http://codex.wordpress.org/Conditional_Tags ). Is there a similar list for the ones that were created for use in BuddyPress?
Thanks!

As per the instructions, you must be running WordPress MU 2.8.1 for BuddyPress 1.0.3 to work.
I am having issues with WPMu 2.8.1 and BuddyPress 1.0.3. After I installed BP 1.0.3, I have had issues with the menus on the sidebar of the WPMu backend. Seems like the ajax is sticking, and the menu tabs won;t open when clicked. I haven’t seen anyone else with this issue, and I think one of the major differences on my install is I’m using multi-db. Anyone have a similar issue?
The cleanest way to get separate firstname and lastname into the database seems to be to
1. split the input from Buddypress’ fullname field using xprofile_sync_wp_profile()
2. make a two or more part name in fullname required
How would I do that? Can someone please help, because this would solve a major structural problem in Buddypress imho.
I need to come up with a solution, because integration with most mailing lists depends on having firstname and lastname stored somewhere.
Alternatively I have to use fullname for firstname and create a second custom xprofile field for lastname. That solution will problably cause lots of problems further down the line.
I need to integrate my mailing list with Buddypress registration. In the current version of my site I use ListMessenger; when someone registers with the site their name + email address is also automatically added to a mailing list.
ListMessenger can’t tap into existing WordPress users tables in MySQL, it has its own users table. The integration challenge is to keep them somewhat synchronized; add name + email address to ListMessenger’s users table to start with, but it would be nice if changes in name + email address would also be synchronized with the ListMessenger data.
I’ve tried to use this plugin as a starting point: WordPress PHPList Dual Registration.
I started this thread about it on the ListMessenger forum.
The key apparently is to get the plugin to execute (?) the following URL on registration:
http://mysite.com/mailinglist/public/listmessenger.php?group_ids[/url][]=1&email_address=random@whatever.com&firstname=John&lastname=Smith
…which could be achieved by a line like this in the plugin:
$post_data = 'action=subscribe&group_ids[]
'.$this->lid.'&email_address='.$this->email_id.'&firstname='.$this->name_id;
So far I have not been able to make that work.
The next few days I’ll try to learn how to write a plugin for WordPress, but I need all the help I can get. I’m not a programmer, but after messing with this stuff for ten years I have some general ideas how things work. I will need help on things like what are the right names for what, where to find information and code examples and how to get syntax etc. right.
Integration is further complicated by Buddypress lack of consistency in storing firstname + lastname, which I have complained about a lot in this forum – sorry…
I post this issue here and not on the WPMU forum because adding members to a mailing list really is a social networking function and it needs to work with Buddypress’ registration and xprofile etc.
di a new fresh install od buddy press as soon as it was installed using simple scripts it was fine till,
i up dated the buddy press new up date by site install i activated it now i have a line
Fatal error: Class ‘WP_Widget’ not found in home/user/public_html/folder/ wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-widgets.php on line 14
sorry we don’t give full path for reason now adays
However if you want you can develop it on your own..You need to do some work..
I need to use BP 1.0.2 for a project that uses WPMU 2.7.1. Can I just download the zip archive from here: http://trac.buddypress.org/browser/tags/1.0.2
Thanks.
Hi
Im trying to make a page that uses both the bp_group_has_members and bp_has_groups commands.
Basically what I want to do is use the page title in the ( bp_has_groups( ‘type=single-group&slug=PageTitle’ ) ) : ?> which is fine (written that way just to clarity) but then I want to use the same for the <?php if ( bp_group_has_members(‘group_id=2&per_page=8’) ) : ?> part of my code.
Just wondering if theres a way that I can say “output the id of the group that equals to the slug PageTitle” so that i can use it in the bp_group_has_members function
Hope someone can help as I’m finding this abit of a headache.
Im using, WPMU 2.71 and Buddypress 1.01
If anyone uses trunk BuddyPress, they should be prepared for errors and for things to be broken.
You can’t. It’s private for this site only, mainly because BuddyPress’ lead developer, Andy Peatling, doesn’t want every site to look like the official BuddyPress site.
This has been asked and answered several times on this forum before; doing a search before posting your question doesn’t hurt!
The home theme and member theme used on buddypress.org is very nicely made.
Where can I get the files for the home and member themes?
(I looked in developers->themes on this site, but I didn’t see it there).
Hi, I want to integrate IPB 3 with wordpress too. My thing may be a bit different though. What I want to do is instead of using bbpress for the group forums, I would love for it to use ipb 3 instead. Is there any way of supporting ipb with buddypress? I have been looking for a while a way to do that.
Greetings,
I have a site on WordPress: http://www.Padosa.com.
I want to add Buddypress to replace vbulletin.
Before I commit by switching to WPMU, a few questions just to confirm I am doing the right thing:
– all I have found suggests that the consolidation and WP and WPMU is down the road – it is not imminent?
– what are the downsides of switching to WPMU? I don’t need for users to create blogs – just need to use buddypress. Any issues with plugins?
– how quirky is buddypress?
Any feedback on making the transition is most appreciated!
Eric
I had a similar problem accept none of the permalinks were working. Post your .htaccess file.
Update:
-I used Burt’s XMLRPC debugger to see if it was an XMLRPC problem and it seems like it is as I’m getting the following error:
-32700 >> parse error. not well formed
Now I need to know how to solve this problem.
The thing is though when I try to make a BP group forum post, the forum shows up in bbPress, just no topic. So XMLRPC has to be working to some extent right?
Hopefully either one of the mods or someone can answer the following question:
I have a bunch of bbpress_live_cache entries in the db from when group forums were actually working.
Should I clear the bbpress_live entries in the db?
Nice work!
You could probably make the menu smaller by removing the widget sidebar you have in the panel.
OK its done you can have a look.
Main considerations..
1. The menu are static.
2. It is long- long list as there was no seperate functions
3.If you add plugins like content and events you have to create menu on your own
If any one can fix those it would be quite helpful

I am working on the interface..The previous one had lot of problems just fixing them..Hope will be good by tomorrow.
The css can be modified to fit your theme /bpcontents/css/structure.css
Okay — So the answer to my last question was no. The user switch code is not needed.
Got everything up & going. Not sure what the deal was this morning. I guess that’s what I get for trying to do work at 5am when I’ve been up for 2 days straight. *laughs*
As an addition to the steps that Graeme so graciously outlined for us:
1. It’s alright to install BuddyPress first just in case you were wondering.
2. After you get the cookie settings from the bbPress integration plugin, it’s okay to deactivate & delete it. It works great for getting the settings but isn’t required to keep everything running & every extra plugin (even if deactivated) adds load time to pages.
3. On my own install, I have an extra cookie setting that needs added. It comes up with the plugin & it’s the admin_cookie_path. (Running via localhost – in case that matters)
When I use custom permalinks, the blog link on home page does not work. If I use any other permalink suggested by wordpress, it works.
any idea? I am using %category%/%postname%/

Hello,
I have a very weird error. I recently just purchased a new domain for buddypress installation. Everything installs okay, but I cannot login to the admin control panel with the default username and password. I did some further research and I realized that it works fine if I test it out with another domain name. Does anyone have any ideas on why I cannot login to the admin control panel?
