    @Rohan

    The other programs (mu and buddypress) have indeed the correct language. Only bbpress has the problem after the deep integration.

    Any ideas?

    I’m sorry that your having issues getting BuddyPress up and running.

    One request first: since this post is marked as resolved and is a month old, in general it is better to start a new thread as most people that can help you will often ignore posts marked resovlved, preferring to spending their time focusing on threads that still are unresolved. Please read this for more information.

    Concerning your issue, this is a known bug that has been discussed here. Basically, BuddyPress 1.0.3, the next release coming very soon, will take care of this issue. So, in the meantime, you may need to stick with WPMU 2.7.1 and BP 1.0.2.

    Also, before upgrading BuddyPress and WPMU, it is very important that you first deactivate all BuddyPress-dependent plugins. Then deactivate BuddyPress itself. Finally, it is recommended that you deactivate all other non-BP related sitewide plugins as well. Once finished upgrading WPMU, you then upgrade and reactivate BP. Then, you reactivate the other BP-dependent plugins.

    hi, I have been reading this thread (and a couple like it).

    I too have having the same trouble with getting BP running. All installed as per instructions, thmes move as listed but getting the same error

    You do not have any BuddyPress themes installed.

    Please move “/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/” to “/wp-content/bp-themes/” and refresh this page. You can download more themes here.

    I have deleted all the files and re-uploaded them going through another install and the same fault occurs.

    In the Admin BP setting bottom left the themes it see’s are all in the WP themes – NOT the BP themes. Like above I experiemented by copying the BP member theme to the WP themes and the BP admin Select theme to use for BuddyPress generated pages could then see the bpmember directory. (but obviously won’t work from there.)

    I am use MU 2.8.1 and BP 1.0.2

    Really really stuck – driving me mad!

    @argris: chances are the deep integration is overriding your language defaults. Check if you have the correct language in all of your programs (mu, buddypress and bbpress)

    I think, at this point, that you would have to go in and edit the file used during registration. This isn’t a good method, though, because that means when BuddyPress updates, your changes will be overwritten.

    I’m running WP MU 2.7.1 and Buddypress 1.0.1.

    I’ve imported my posts from a previous wordpress blog. When I navigate to the page “mysite.com/blog/”, I see my blog posts. Then, scrolling down to the bottom, I click on the “Previous Entries” link. This takes me to “mysite.com/blog/page/2”, but I then get a broken page with an error.

    Going to the archives, when I navigate to “mysite.com/2009/02/” then click the previous posts link, it works fine.

    I thought that it was something I did in my coding, but then I visited the buddypress blog, and when I scroll to the bottom I encounter the same error!

    http://buddypress.org/blog/page/2/

    This is a huge issue, really need help. Thanks!

    I completed installation of the following

    WPMU 2.8.1, (trunk 1867)

    BuddyPress 1.1

    bbpress 1.01, (trunk 2311)

    BuddyBar 1.0.3

    Site:

    http://www.wpmeetups.com

    http://www.wpmeetups.com/forums/

    Integration has been successfully set-up between Forums and BuddyPress Group Forums.

    Problem: Insertion of the following in bb-config.php: (generates a white screen)

    <php

    if ( !defined( ‘ABSPATH’ ) & !defined( ‘XMLRPC_REQUEST’ )) {

    define( ‘WP_USE_THEMES’, false );

    include_once( ‘/var/www/vhosts/wpmeetups.com/httpdocs/wp-blog-header.php’ );

    header( “HTTP/1.1 200 OK” );

    header( “Status: 200 All rosy” );

    }

    Question: Will the following correction to 2 core files correct this problem:

    You’ll actually need to patch two CORE files, to make this work now.

    wp-includes/wpmu-functions.php on line 317 and line 352

    Change _init to __constuct (__construct)

    And then in wp-includes/capabilites.php on line 84 and 99

    Change _init to __constuct (__construct)

    Ugh… I hope this is fixed soon.

    Hi; I got another problem while trying to handle a single item.

    First, this is the code which ‘handles’ my navigation (checks if we are in our profile, in another profile, in the directory or viewing a single item)

    if ($bp->current_component == $bp->classifieds->slug) { //we are in classifieds
    if (bp_is_home()) { //we are in our profile
    ...
    }elseif (($bp->displayed_user->id) && (!bp_is_home())) {//we are in someone else profile
    ...
    }else if ( $bp->is_single_item ) {
    // We are viewing a single classified, so set up the
    // classified navigation menu using the $classified_obj global.

    /* When in a single classified, the first action is bumped down one because of the
    classified name, so we need to adjust this and set the classified name to current_item. */
    $bp->current_item = $bp->current_action;
    $bp->current_action = $bp->action_variables[0];
    array_shift($bp->action_variables);

    $classified_link = $bp->root_domain . '/' . $bp->classifieds->slug . '/' . $classified_obj->slug . '/';

    // Reset the existing subnav items
    bp_core_reset_subnav_items($bp->classifieds->slug);

    bp_core_add_nav_default( $bp->classifieds->slug, 'classifieds_screen_classified_home', 'home' );
    bp_core_add_subnav_item( $bp->classifieds->slug, 'home', __('Home', 'buddypress'), $classified_link, 'classifieds_screen_classified_home', 'classified-home' );
    // If the user is a classified mod or more, then show the classified admin nav item */
    }else { //we are in directory
    $bp->is_directory = true;
    ...
    }

    }
    }

    So if we are viewing a single item; this is the function called :

    function classifieds_screen_classified_home() {
    global $bp;

    echo "function classifieds_screen_classified_home";exit;

    if ( isset($_GET['new']) ) {
    // Delete classified request notifications for the user
    }

    do_action( 'classifieds_screen_classified_home' );

    bp_core_load_template( apply_filters( 'classifieds_template_classified_home', 'classifieds2/classified-home' ) );

    }

    Here’s my problem :

    If I go to /classifieds/classified1234

    It goes to the function classifieds_screen_classified_home() and runs the code echo “function classifieds_screen_classified_home”; exit; ).

    But If I go to /classifieds/classified1234/watch

    It does not !

    What is strange is that in my code above; if I put

    echo “single item”;exit;

    at the top or at the bottom inside my statement

    }else if ( $bp->is_single_item ) {

    and that I try

    /classifieds/classified1234 or /classifieds/classified1234/watch, it does echoes “single item” then exit.

    So I don’t understand why after it doesn’t run the function classifieds_screen_classified_home.

    Any idea ?

    Thanks a LOT.

    Running 2.7.1 and BP 1.0.2 on a shared server. GD Library is installed and enabled. I have read through the multitude of forum threads. Oh yea WP Premium avatar plugin is installed and works just fine for the blog and comments. I can upload and crop avatars in my BuddyPress profile just fine as well. It’s only when I try to upload an avatar from register.php that it fails.

    From what I can tell nothing appears in blogs.dir/(blog#) when I try to upload from register.php. There was a suggestion to comment out these two lines in .htaccess:

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !.*wp-content/plugins.*

    RewriteRule ^(.*/)?files/(.*) wp-content/blogs.php?file=$2 [L]

    But can someone tell what, if any, impact that would have on the rest of my installation. Sorry I am not real strong on the .htaccess file so I just want to understand what those lines do and if it’s ok to just comment them out why would they be there in the first place?

    Any guidance here would be greatly appreciated.

    There are two plugins that you’ll need to sync up the cookies; one of them is included with BuddyPress under bp-forums/bbpress-plugins/, this one gets copied into your bbPress/my-plugins/ folder. The other you will want to download from the WordPress plugins repository (wordpress.org/extend/) and install and activate in your WordPress admin.

    Once you have each plugin installed, one for each platform, configure them and follow the directions for each one, and then report back. :)

    #49234

    When do you get this error message? Like, what exactly are you trying to do when this happens? I’m not really sure what this could possibly be, other than maybe a PHP memory limit error? Or maybe the comment.php file is corrupt?

    Are you using deep integration by chance?

    Hi Manoj…I am trying it your way, but then I don’t see the forums option part when creating a new group once I am one, and am confused…

    At

    “8. Head back to your BuddyPress installation and sign up as a new user. Once you have

    activated the new user, make a note of the username and password given.

    9. Log back into your bbPress installation as the administrator, and head back to the admin panel (/bb-admin).

    Go to the “Users” tab and look for the new user you signed up in step 8 in the list. Hit the “Edit”

    link for that user, on the end of the row.”

    I try creating a new user but it doesn’t show in bbPress…and then I am just fidgeting with settings, using the bbpress “Key Master” in the WP admin when trying to do the forums integration…does anybody know what else needs to be fidgeted manually to make it work?

    Thanks,

    hi,

    i installed wpmu (2.8.1), buddypress (1.0.2) and bbpress (1.0.1) on xampp with subdirectories (in a subdir). everything seems to work fine, but in the wp admin > buddypress > forums setup i get the following message:

    Warning: preg_match() expects parameter 2 to be string, array given in C:\xampp\htdocs\wordpress-mu\wp-includes\comment.php on line 1270

    when i look in the file, i find this, and don’t understand anything (yea, im a noob):

    if ( isset( $response['headers']['content-type'] ) && preg_match('#(image|audio|video|model)/#is', $response['headers'][

    so, could you please help me, i tried with google and searched several boards without any success…

    thanks a lot

    Whenever a new user registers he get an email saying click this to activate.

    And when I click it it takes me to a wierd place to crop avatars

    Okay, I’m a little confused by what you are reporting:

    1. So, are you just testing a new BuddyPress installation? Why else would you be clicking on a new user’s registration.
    2. If that is the case, have you tried using two different browsers–one for each user?
    3. Have you cleared old session cookies before registering a new user?
    4. Which version of BuddyPress are you running?
    5. There should only be one confirmation email sent. It is the one with the activation link. Are you using different emails for each account? Be default, WPMU makes sure that there are no duplciate accounts.
    6. Are you using a custom themes, or the default themes?
    7. Do you have any other plugins, besides BuddyPress, installed and activated? If so, have you tried deactivating them to check if they might be causing a conflict?

    Why is it that the default “home” page loads “directories/blogs/index.php” ?

    Is there a setting that specifies this?

    Can this be changed to load a custom BP Member page?

    For example:

    “directories/mycustompage/index.php”

    So in the end this function:

    get_option('home')

    would point to “directories/mycustompage/index.php”

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi,

    I am having two problems,

    I have a WordPress2.7.1 + Buddypress installed

    Whenever a new user registers he get an email saying click this to activate.

    And when I click it it takes me to a wierd place to crop avatars and bottom says the my profile is activated and gives me user name and password. and that a second email will be send with the username and password.

    First issue: I cannot get my cursor out crop form so basically I can not click on anything (got to close it manually)

    Second issue: The second email is never being send.

    So i dont write it down first time i wont be able log in

    Any idea whats wrong

    Thanks

    Manoj

    Make another profile entry for URL. BuddyPress is acting as it should and taking over that field for profile fun :)

    I want the author to be able to change their personal URL in the WP backend. But every time their buddypress profile changes, it changes the Website field in WP.

    Is there a logical reason for doing this? If not, where do I modify this?

    #49219

    There are now at least 5 other topics opened with this exact same problem.

    You did everything correctly but search for anyone else having this issue. :)

    This will be repaired with BuddyPress 1.0.3 when it is released.

    Currently BuddyPress 1.0.2 is only compatible with WPMU 2.7.1.

    #49218

    I don’t use XAMPP, but WAMP should be pretty much the same.

    Can you confirm you ever had cookies working successfully? Even before bbPress? Sounds silly to check, but lets make sure it’s working correctly without bbPress.

    Do you have the BuddyPress bbPress Integration plugin on the bbPress side? Do you have the bbPress Integration plugin on the WordPress side?

    If yes and yes, the next round of trouble shooting is to make sure you have your edits exactly like the plugins say to have them.

    Since you’re using MU 2.7.1, you need to have

    define('WP_AUTH_COOKIE_VERSION', 1);

    in your bb-config.php. This will tell bbPress how to handle your integration cookies.

    That’s about all I can recommend for now?

    Hi, I installed WPMU 2.7.1/BP 1.0.2 under xampp following this tutorial:

    http://maketecheasier.com/install-wordpress-mu-in-windows-localhost-with-xampp/2009/05/02

    Everything went OK (I think), then tried to integrate bbP A6 following Chris´tutorail: http://theeasybutton.com/blog/2009/04/30/integrating-buddypress-10-wpmu-and-bbpress/

    When I saw that I could not stayed logged upon moving to localhost.localdomain/wordpress-mu/forums/, I erased the define(’COOKIE_DOMAIN’, ”);

    define(’COOKIEPATH’, ‘/’); from my wp-config

    But the problem here is that I am having endless cookie problems, not only with forums integration (when moving to forums while being logged to BP, even though I enter login and password again, it does not allow me to login. I have to log out of BP and then enter login and pass at the forums) I also have cookie problems while trying to accessing wp-admin

    I am sure many of you work with localhosts configuration under Windows Vista, could I have a gentle helping hand ?
