Topic: Share the love
on bebo they have a feature where users can give a little love heart with each comment up to 3 per day, this adds to thier total love count displayed on thier profile
i would be so glad if someone could write a plugin for buddypress to accomodate for and extend this idea, by extend i am thinking
admin can choose amount of love per day, per comment (allow user to add more than one heart to a comment currently on bebo the user must post 3 separate comments to give out all thier hearts), allow the admin to change what it is they give out eg stars etc or more than one thing eg stars hearts etc,
on the wire you should have a transparent heart(s) that the user clicks to give the love which become fully visible to indicate the user is dontating thier love on this comment, also allow the admin to make a few random quotes to display to encourage the user to share the love, just like bebo lol
yeah i pretty much want my own bebo clone haha
i would be very happy if someone could make this plugin, i have many more ideas to improve buddypress features so please ask me if you are interested in my feedback

Hi,
I’ve been using i3Theme with BuddyPress (http://www.mangoorange.com/resources/i3theme/) and there is a formatting error where the left or right sidebar (it’s 3 column theme) can appear 25px too low. This happens when the ‘who’s online widget’ is displayed and the problem shows in Firefox but not IE.
Looking at bp-core-widgets.php there is the line <div class=”clear” style=”margin-bottom: 25px”></div> in the function bp_core_widget_whos_online
Why is that line there? Removing it seems to fix the formatting problem…

Guys, in wordpress i allways used <?php edit_post_link(‘+’,’ ‘,”); ?> in the loop, so admin got + as a link to edit a post.
How should i implement this feature to BuddyPress recent_from_blogs and recent_posts?
Topic: Can users input hidden data?
Can users input hidden data anywhere on the user profile? The blogroll gives this functionality for their blogs, but I haven’t found that functionality anywhere in buddypress???
If someone knows of a way I would appreciate your help thanks…

I know this is a beta program. But a number of you are already using BuddyPress in production sites. Would you care to share your sites? I would love to see sites that use BuddyPress with different themes than what is provided just to see how they work.

Topic: Single Blog is Blank
Hi all,
I just updated to WPmu 2.7 SVN, and everything was working fine, but all of a sudden, one of the blogs just stopped loading, it just loads a blank page, I cannot even access wp-admin for that blog, it also loads blank. I have tried nearly everything:
1- Deactivate/Re-activate plugins
2- Update all plugins
3- Deleted plugins from server
4- Deleted all mu-plugin files (including BuddyPress)
5- Disabled and enabled all themes
6- Deleted and re-installed the blog’s theme
5- Deleted all WPmu 2.7 files and re-copied them
6- Deleted WPmu 2.7, replaced with WPmu 2.6.5 files
7- Deleted 2.6.5 files and replaced with 2.7 SVN
8- Cleared Cache, restarted server
9- Reviewed .htaccess file ( http://pastebin.com/m586bc4e8 )
10- Deleted wp-config.php and re-installed
I don’t know what else to do, it was working this morning, and then it just stopped, please help!
I’m now checking the server error logs to see if anything shows up.

i’m using Buddypress with the last version WPMU and I want to create a new profile field .CSV format (from Profile Fields Buddypress plugin) in two levels.
For example, you can see here the beginning of countries.csv content, one level:

You can use it to choose your country in your profile.
But I want to go further and purpose a two level field. This means, if I choose the car brand Mercedes in the list, i generate a model brand list (A-Class, B-Class, C-Class, …).
Can I do that in the same .csv file? Another solution?

Topic: Changing Members theme
Hi all.
I’ve been using buddypress for a while on my site http://www.nextlevel.co.nr, and although have changed and messed about with a lot of it, I’m struggling with what to do with the members/user pages. At the moment, I’ve kept it as the default, simply whilst we test out different ideas, but when I’ve changed it to another theme, it’s pretty much impossible to navigate around. Any tips for either editing a theme to work better with Buddypress, or the best way to start customising the original members theme.

@socialbandit SVN or beta zip is the same procedure. With incremental updates from SVN I know what files were modified. I can’t keep track of them individually. That’d be a nightmare. SVN updates come through files from here, files from there. All over the place. When I’m ready to update I do the whole shebang.
I don’t know how others do it.
No deactivation is needed. I’m usually up at 3am so I do it then.
That probably doesn’t make a diff though. It’s not 3am in Moscow.css changes on updates? I’m not sure what you mean by that.
Topic: Problem with CSS?
I just conducted two fresh installs of MU and BuddyPress and I cant figure out why I am losing all of my formatting for my BuddyPress theme. All of my other themes are fine and MU worked fine before I installed BuddyPress. Visit http://www.nowunemployed.com to see exactly what I am talking about.
I just went through all of my file permissions for BuddyPress and they are now all set to 755, but I am still having this problem.
I plan on moving this off of a shared server as soon as I get an opportunity to experiment with this, but for now I would just like to get it working oh the shared server.
Any help would be appreciated!

So my opinion is that some function called ‘send-invites’ working incorrect! It’s makes group admin invite to a friend like somebodys request to join the group.
Workaround i’ve found for this bug – just comment line 272 in mu-plugin/bp-groups.php (//bp_core_add_subnav_item( $bp, ‘send-invites’, __(‘Send Invites’, ‘buddypress’), $group_link, ‘groups_screen_group_invite’, ‘group-invite’, $is_member )
And you will delete option for sending invites from groups admins panel to friends. Maybe somebody can fix this ‘send-invite’ thing?
I wouldn’t mod a function, I’d add a filter. Hang on while I look for the filter name. (brb)
OK, what I think you’ve done is change the ‘Full Name’ profile field and called it ‘nickname’ in the BuddyPress settings area right?
So, in bp_fetch_user_fullname() it sets up a filter for us:
apply_filters( 'bp_fetch_user_fullname', stripslashes( trim( $data ) )You’d need to create a function something like:
function my_nickname_filter($name) {
return strtolower($name);
}And register the filter with:
add_filter('bp_fetch_user_fullname', 'my_nickname_filter')Hopefully bp uses the bp_fetch_user_full_name() fn everywhere. Can’t see much reason to create it if it didn’t.
I see these hooks all over the place. Andy has done gone filter happy.
