What bphelp said for limiting members for groups. BuddyDev also has a Limit Groups per User http://buddydev.com/buddypress/limit-groups-per-user-plugin-for-buddypress/

@colourinfusion there is no longer any Installation Wizard as of BP 1.7. Proceed to the Settings > BuddyPress > Settings panels to configure your BP installation.

Sounds like you didn’t have anyone can register checked before installing buddypress. It is located in dashboard/settings/general. You will need to create them and assign those pages in dashboard/settings/buddypress/pages and make sure you click save settings.

@valuser as hnla and modemlooper mentioned above, BP 1.7 theme compatibility is the way to go now. BP template pack served its purpose then but it’s time to move on 🙂

We’ve been having this same issue now, without a resolution. Clean installation of WordPress and BuddyPress with all updates complete. User registrations generally break all static pages (404 Error) and re-saving the permalink settings resolves the issue.

Any help?
