ParticipantYay! And I thought we’re doing really bad. 2k+ members in 4 months but this is is like highly customized buddypress site. http://www.webcuties.me. No major marketing yet but will run contests with prizes soon and hopefully that would give us a boost.

ParticipantI’ve upgraded to BuddyPress 1.7.2 in my staging area and the update went smooth. Most functions seem to work fine. However, when I tried registering a new user the above filter didn’t work. BuddyPress sent the standard activation e-mail to the new user’s e-mail instead of the admin e-mail (please read the first post in this thread to review the new member process I have).
The function bp_core_signup_send_validation_email_to is in bp-members/bp-members-functions.php on line 1361 and I’ve verified that it’s unchanged since BuddyPress 1.6.4 which is what I’m running now. Does anyone know if there’s been any other change affecting this? Thanks!

@thapharm logged in members of BuddyPress install do not have to log in again to post in forums. WP/BP versions? ParticipantAlso in case of a visible category “Gruppenforen” the behaviour is identical.

ParticipantMeanwhile I did find, that user/template-tags.php did have a known issue. But patching that did not change behaviour at a specific way to reproduce the problem:
User X is member of group A, but not group B. Both groups do have hidden forums. Both Forums are in a hidden Category “Gruppenforen” (German for group forums).
When User X goes to the forum of group A and then follows the link in the group to “Gruppenforen” and onlky at that moment the widget for recent topics shows all topics in “Gruppenforen” includigts those of group B, that user X is not supposed to see.May 19, 2013 at 6:24 am #164307In reply to: Xprofile Allow Style Tags

ModeratorTo change the output, use the filter hook in
bp-groups-template.php -> bp_get_groups_pagination_count()return apply_filters( 'bp_get_groups_pagination_count', sprintf( __( 'Viewing group %1$s to %2$s (of %3$s groups)', 'buddypress' ), $from_num, $to_num, $total ) );You can’t override functions unless they are pluggable.

ParticipantYour timing is immaculate. š I just spotted a help file saying that I needed to delete old bp files in the theme before upgrading to 1.70. So I’d turned it off and was looking at the theme, which is Weaver II. Also searched the Weaver site for issues and they all point back at BP. š
I memory is bad on this but I either upgraded to BP 1.71 first before changing to Weaver II, from an older theme called Elbee Elgee, or or visa versa, moved to Weaver and then upgraded from the older version of BP.
Either way, I didn’t have the old BP template pack installed, nor do I see any of files I was told to delete at this link in step 3: https://codex.buddypress.org/bp-17-upgrading-template-packed-themes/
3. Delete the six (6) BP folders transferred to your themeās folder in server: /activity, /blogs, /forums, /groups, /members, and /registration. If you have a header-buddypress.php, sidebar-buddypress.php and/or a footer-buddypress.php file, delete those too via s/FTP or control panel.
My first action was to roll back the site a week. All the plugins were still current after putting the old database back other than the theme rolled back. Was just rebuilding the theme first before turning BP back on. which will be in a few more minutes…

Participant@energynet BuddyPress is not activated in your site. Have you tried changing to Twenty Twelve theme and activating BuddyPress?

ParticipantOops. I forgot to mention that I’m using the buddypress Activity Plus as a plugin to post links, and multimedia. Its their latest version.
All other plugins were turned off but problem persists.
Will check with WPMU, the creators of Activity Plus as well on this, but just an additional note, no posts, or comments are working…

ParticipantHi there
One more issue (it’s killing me). Despite having the registration disabled, emails for registration and the whole activation process stayed from buddypress. So I use WP registration template but get buddypress emails and activation – which is even NOT WORKING!
Can you help me disable whole f*ckin BuddyPress registration&activation process so I can use only WP registration + its emails and everything?
I appreciate your help.
Thank you!May 18, 2013 at 10:51 am #164274hiboy
ParticipantHi bb-help, thanks again for your reply, really appreciate it, as i am abit panick.
here the full story,i started off with a buddypress theme and buddypress, I do my development from there to fit my needs, and i install plugin and about to done with my site after several weeks. Well the buddypress folder was renamed to buddypress2 when i first started developing on this site. everything all fine and working well. I then install this plugin = https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-xprofile-custom-fields-type/, and then error start appear at the top of my backend and frontend, so i immediately rename this folder in ftp, it got deactivated, but error still shown, then i delete this plugin, error still shown, then i deactivate buddypress, error still shown, deleted buddypress, error still shown, and i also replace functions.php in my wp-includes, and here where i stop. the error was still there.

@mercime
ParticipantMoved topic as requested.
To add code in Codex, you can either use
<pre><code> // code here </code></pre>for something like https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/members-navigation-menus/
or use
[sourcecode language=""css""] //code [/sourcecode]for something like https://codex.buddypress.org/legacy/theme-dev-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-twelve/

You would not be associated with my site in any way by doing this – this is just code that would help a lot of BuddyPress users (judging from the many requests for it). I simply suggested showing you my site to give you a clearer idea of what I’m already doing, and how the code I have so far works. If the site of the female human body offends you, you don’t have to look (that’s entirely your choice), but it shouldn’t have any bearing on whether or not you help to provide a much-requested BuddyPress feature.

Easy fix so don’t panic. Go into your server and rename that plugin. I always append it with 2 capital X’s to the beginning of the plugin name which will deactivate the plugin it can be anything it is just a habit for me.
In your example change the folder containing the plugins name from:
buddypress-xprofile-custom-fields-type
TO:
XXbuddypress-xprofile-custom-fields-type
You can then get back into your site and the plugin will be deactivated and you can delete it via the dashboard if you choose.May 18, 2013 at 6:27 am #164244bp-help

Doesn’t your theme contain a footer.php? If it does and it is not widgetized then you will have to manually widgetize it. Do a google search, there is lots of instructional info about widgetizing areas in themes.May 18, 2013 at 6:21 am #164243hiboy
Participanthi hi bb-help,
