Do you have a link to the particular plugin version as there has been confusion over which bp-media plugin is being used in previous forum topics which is not your fault. Its just the name conflict by the developers is confusing to others so please supply @ludachrisgsx with the link to the plugin you are suggesting. Thank you for your help! 🙂May 3, 2013 at 6:56 am #163305In reply to: Buddypress Activity Plus not Working

This is a third party plugin that has not been updated in a while so you may want to request support on the WPMU DEV forums as well. When WP 3.6 comes out It is supposed to support native audio and video support but I am not sure how or if that will be integrated within the buddypress activity post. If so it will be awesome! Hopefully someone else may shed some light on this. 🙂May 3, 2013 at 5:43 am #163301In reply to: Photo Editing Plugin for Buddypress?

ParticipantNot my business, but I was really confused with these bbPress <-> BuddyPress forums, too.
It’s not necessary to write that ‘Group Forums’ are some kind of a component of BP when they are actually not. It bears only unneeded confusion for users. ‘Group Forums’ are just an option to connect some group with a particular forum from all the forums in a site, but all forums are bbPress forums at the end. BP doesn’t have any forums in it!
I think you should better leave the settings for people to chose if they want their groups to have forums or not while they are creating these groups. That’s enough – no more explanations are needed then. To write articles about ‘Group-forums’are really confusing for all the newbies. ‘Group forums’ or whatever the name is, are another yet forum in bbPress parental for other forums.
This part with these shortcodes is another big mess too – people DON’T UNDERSTAND this – I’m 99,99% sure that I am not the only one who think this way.
Some details in BP are quite well explained (UNNECESSARY) while other ones (IMPORTANT ones) are totally ignored. There is almost none info for shortcodes for example – how they work, where to write them, how to make them work, lists of them, etc… 🙁May 3, 2013 at 2:58 am #163297In reply to: BuddyPress Activity Privacy Plugin

ParticipantNice plugin. Is it easy for you to include function in this plugin to do either of the following:
* Automatically block (or make Private) the listing of posts in Activity from specific blogs on the network.
* Automatically block (or make Private) the listing of posts in Activity from specific users of the network.
I have been trying to do this for a long time but no such plugin or feature is available yet.
Thankyou.

ParticipantI spent a few hours creating a development version and testing, but I still can’t get it to hide private discussions from the activity stream.
Here is what I tried so far:
– Deactivated all plugins except BuddyPress and bbPress, to see whether it is a conflicting plugin issue
– Reverted back to default BuddyPress theme
– Set the group to public, then back to private againThe only strange thing I’ve found so far is when I go into the database. Inside the bp_activity table, the discussions from private groups all have “hide_sitewide” = 0. If I set hide_sitewide for these discussions to 1, the topic no longer appears in activity stream. But where does hide_sitewide originally get set?

chuckingit
Participanthi – i’m by no means an expert but just testing buddypress 1.7 and in looking at MySQL tables, it appears that the activity @name is from the WP User Nice Name in the WP_Users table … note i’m also testing on a WP Multisite network …
also, being able to change the activity @name might be great feature for profile edit ..??..
with respect modifying profile, i’ve seen a drop down from the user profile top right menu bar that allows me to get to the profile and edit it …
i’m not positive about the BuddyPress settings and sync’ing with WP profiles … hope this helps 🙂 cordially, chuck scott

Hey thanks! I just added the code to the plugins js file and it worked like a charm!
I also fixed the styling in my child Responsive Theme. Its just a matter of adding floats, and margin. On my bp-default child, twenty twelve child, and simplify theme child all work perfect as well!
Again nice job and thanks for the great plugin!May 2, 2013 at 7:18 pm #163272In reply to: Help with Group administration Dashboard (back-end)

ParticipantBP Bug Reports -> https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/
Please provide info about your installation when you post there -> WP/BP versions, single/multisite install, if multisite where is BP installed, theme used, plugins activated, etc.
Thanks.May 2, 2013 at 7:12 pm #163271In reply to: [Resolved] Set Buddypress Full-Width Pages?
@mercime
Participant@kkradel In a nutshell, if your theme has a full-width template, open that file, copy all code, and paste into a new file, buddypress.php which you then upload to your theme folder in server. https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/theme-development/a-quick-look-at-1-7-theme-compatibility/

Participant@henrywright-1 I recall seeing that happen once with a BP Default child theme and the other time with a “BuddyPress-ready” theme. It was a JS issue and was fixed with a point upgrade. What theme are you using?

ParticipantThe problem is from js code who animate #whats-new-options div, he make a div 40px hight.
i find fix, i will fix the plugin by ading this code in js file
jQuery('#whats-new').off('focus'); jQuery('#whats-new').on('focus', function(){ jQuery("#whats-new-options").css('height','auto'); jQuery("form#whats-new-form textarea").animate({ height:'50px' }); jQuery("#aw-whats-new-submit").prop("disabled", false); });May 2, 2013 at 6:04 pm #163264In reply to: BuddyPress Activity Privacy Plugin

ParticipantHi again @bp-help and thanks for feedback,
The scroll becomes visible also without the plugin, i think is css problem from buddypress (responsive).
http://s21.postimg.org/j822en8iv/resize_compact.png
http://s17.postimg.org/wotdu057z/resize_default.pngyou can fix that by adding this css :`
#activity-privacy {
margin-top: 2px;
}

meg@info
Participanthi,
there is no filter for the search UI (members and groups), the only why is to remove the function call in the template or to use css.
the template file :
buddypress\bp-templates\bp-legacy\buddypress\groups\index.php
just comment bp_directory_groups_search_form();or add this css code :
#group-dir-search{ display: none; } #members-dir-search{ display: none; }May 2, 2013 at 12:57 pm #163241kraigg
ParticipantThanks Hugo, I tested it with all plugins deactivated except for BuddyPress and bbPress, and the problem persists. I’ll need to test it with the default theme as well, and possibly revert back to BuddyPress 1.6 to see if it still happens.
The only change I made recently was update to BuddyPress 1.7 and change from sitewide forums to group forms.
I’ll have another test and see what I can find. Thanks for putting me on the right path

ParticipantThis should have dealt with quite a few versions back so something may have crept back in. If you can ensure this isn’t some odd plugin issue and that this definitely wasn’t happening in 1.6 please open a ticket on http://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org using your site credentials.
I will just add though that a quick test on a local install running trunk does NOT show any issue like this, so check carefully it isn’t plugin issue also scan through trac to see if there was a recent ticket and fix put in place.

ParticipantOne general question: Are security reasons for updates always clearly listed in Changelog of a version? Cause you know, some will not always want to update. But of course if there is a security reason…

Brandon Moeller
ParticipantNevermind what I said – I no longer believe it to be true. It works just fine on another child theme I just tested it on. My problem, I believe, concerns a parent theme that doesn’t use the style.css file in the traditional way – it’s likely that with more work on my child theme, I could get it to work with BuddyPress.
