ParticipantHugo,
This below potion of the overview has yet to make sense to me.
“Additionally to keep things neat & tidy you can keep your custom parent template file ‘community.php’ in these folders as well rather than your theme root. You may override the css by adding a folder /css/ to your theme root if you then, either, copy buddypress.css from /bp-legacy/ or create a new file named buddypress.css this file will be used instead of the buddypress version.”
Here’s my interpration of it: I can copy my theme’s css file into BP’s activity folder to override the BP template. Is this correct?

ParticipantHugo, you are my Victor Hugo! You are making life acceptable for a “Miserable” like myself. I just downloaded the 1.7 version and working on alignment now. http://www.ppua.net/member-directory/ still looks unhappy but I’m trying to fix it now. Other suggestions are welcome!

Participant@mercime Thanks for the assist. Close, but not quite. Apparently I was at 2MB. I’m on a private server, so no worries, upgraded via php.ini and .htaccess Change is visible in wp mediau uploader upload limit.
tested in the wp admin media uploader with a 56kb image (the same test image for all upload tests in this specific post) and all worked…until I did test on profile frontside.
I tried to upload via the buddypress profile page and here is what I got.
- 1. Was able to select an image.
- 2. When I selected ‘upload image’ I got the error below
- 3. Checked in wp-admin media library for potential image upload and none present
ERROR MESSAGE: Upload Failed! Error was: No editor could be selected.
Any thoughts?

ParticipantIf you have the option don’t get too involved with template pack, work with and style the theme compat templates – if you have heavier duty styling/markup requirements then you perhaps might need to use the bp-default templates moved into your theme but try 1.7 in theme compat mode first:

ParticipantThanks Hugo! The desperation comes with a new deadline being assigned to complete the task. I will give this a try. Were you able to take a look at the code provided. Any quick ideas what could cause the member list page to unfit in the theme template?
Again, thanks!

ParticipantPlease don’t bump threads til ~24 hours has passed.
You stated ‘playing around’ with BP, that doesn’t tend to gel with ‘getting desperate’ Why the urgency? 🙂
What I would suggest is you rely on the theme compatibility built in to 1.7, use that rather than ? template pack. Download a copy of 1.7 beta and have a go with that, it’s pretty stable and safe to beging building sites with.

ParticipantYup, by the way: are there any news on the 1.7 release date? I saw from the milestones that it’s 99% complete, but it’s been like that for almost 2 weeks by now.

ParticipantAfter doing everything above, and then reinstalling BuddyPress and correctly setting it up (I made sure to follow the BuddyPress tutorials), I am still able to access every link on the site EXCEPT the the Profile > Edit link on the user page for the current, logged in user.
Please help!

Participant@mercime Thank you for your response. I have already tried to re-upload BuddyPress once before, but I will do so again for good measure. My worry is that every time I face a problem with this plugin, the first recommendation is to re-install it manually. This is not going to be very helpful when I actually start using it and have a lot of content associated with it.
@afjsystem & @mercime For reference, and because I may not be doing something correctly, this is how I have fully and manually uninstalled the plugin:
1. I deactivated the BuddyPress Default theme
2. I deactivated the BuddyPress Plugin
3. I deleted the BuddyPress Plugin (again, the only plugin I had installed)
4. Using mySQL (through Terminal), I deleted all tables associated with BuddyPress within my WordPress database on my serverPlease let me know if I am doing something incorrectly.
I will let you know what happens when I reinstall in a bit, but I have to run to a meeting at the moment.

Participantthere should be more efforts like “CBOX”
You really need to explain a remark like that. What are you wanting provided for you? CBOX is a theme development project based on the Infinity framework. It has entailed a huge number of hours, is backed by a number of developers, and also as far as I’m aware funded, so the fact it’s then returned as openly available for anyone to use is a bonus, but do not expect that to be the norm it’s an exception.
Your bullet points are understandable but not necessarily possible to do. Define work well? who writes those review and tests the plugins?
Better forum responses? how do we achieve this then? Bear in mind a forum such as this and many others are a volunteer effort, those of us that do answer questions do so at the expense of our free time even though for most developers there is in reality no such animal as free time, again helping out on the forum is one way to help improve it as is contributing to the Codex as I mentioned before.
– So yes no one would question things can always be improved and it’s fine to suggest so but the real answer is get involved help make that improvement – it’s a community driven effort.
And on that note the thread does start to repeat itself so lets draw a line under things!
