@flyveren I got your message by e-mail that you added me as guest, just before I deactivated 1.6.4. I’m not able to upload 1.7Beta1 while inside of WP. I get a message that the file is too big.

I just finished uploading 1.7 via FileZila, and when I went to activate it, I received this error:

Warning: require(/home/*****/public_html/gumpolen/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-template-loader.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/*****/public_html/gumpolen/wp-content/plugins/buddypress-1.7Beta1/bp-loader.php on line 401

I somehow need to reset WP so that I can upload 1.7 as a brand new install. Would you have any suggestions?

My BuddyBoss theme works perfectly on 1.7Beta1 on another site of mine where I practice. Are there some core BP files that I can delete on http://www.gumpolen.com so that BP installs as if it’s the first time — when I re-upload it?

I will try to install it again and see what happens.

When I installed 1.7 Beta1, I simply deleted the current version and uploaded the Beta with FileZila and then activated it. I think I didn’t have the Beta working correctly by installing it this way.

Yep. Okay, I couldn’t post for a bit. Yes, I’m working on a problem where I have four posts showing up in the buddypress areas. Everything was perfect until I made a post. Four posts show up, whether as an admin or a regular user.

I’m installing the current version of BP and I will test my new theme with this. I will post back shortly.

    Thanks @flyveren

Thanks @Chouf1 forsuch a  detailed response. Unfortunately WPMU is not an issue, I’m quite familiar with it and run it on alternative sites already. My current project is where my difficulties began.

WPMU with multiple sub-sites and mapped domains are all pre-configured and ready to roll. (Users can register, I can upload and post images etc etc)

BUDDYPRESS: The problem I have experienced over the past week has been Buddypress & bbPress is failing me.

What I’m therefore trying to achieve, or at least figure out  is exactly why….

Every time I step forward, from the point I’m at right now and install Buddypress with bbPress things fail! Problems I’m experiencing are as follows.

An inability to edit, spam, stick etc. Any ‘Sitewide Forum’ – (Group forums are fine)

E-mails do not get sent to subscribed users.

Site registration fails, email is sent but link with auth code in fails and no user is created.

What I’m trying to do here on my 6th complete new install is break things down step by step to see if its a process issue.

Theme is fully BP & bbP friendly, and all pages display excellently when BP/bbP is installed.

For the record I can also state that I use Buddypress on an alternate singular site with WP, no issues whatsoever.

This is my first BP WPMU Install and I can only say its been a complete nightmare, thus far. Hence why I asked the questions I have, trying to breakdown every aspect of my install, process of elimination.

    Questions again –

Does one enable define ( ‘bp_enable_multiblog’ true ) prior to BP installation or directly afterward, or does it not matter.

Should one network enable BP & bbPress upon installation or not?

I have followed The Definitive Guide To BuddyPress & bbPress Configuration, over at http://labzip.com to the letter also, but on the last five occasions my WPMU BP bbP istall has failed, as described above.

    Yes, savage troubleshooting headache…

P.S- Thanks for your Root Blog explination 🙂 Much appreciated.

Thank you, i’ve just changed the page names with lots of hope…but they are still in English 🙁
They look like sticky links. They actually look like the one we see now at the top left of this page: BuddyPress.org and My Sites. I don’t know their proper names but when i scroll down my page, they are always at top like floating. I’ve seen other BP sites and also same. They are always at top. How to translate them?

Go to Dashboard/Settings/BuddyPress/Settings at the top, Check Show the Toolbar for logged out users.

@scotm I’ve started on a checklist to test features of BuddyPress Components for BP 1.7 to be published in BP Codex, got 3 more components to go. It’s looking to be a long list 🙂 If you’d like to contribute to the Messaging, Profile Fields or other component you’ve started on, please feel free to do so 🙂

@modemlooper I have installed the Buddypress 1.7. Before I installed it, I was having problem with sending Private Message, so I was hoping it will be resolved. However, the problem still persist. When my users and I send a Private Message, it indicate message: No data received…..Unable to load the web page because the server sent no data. Yet the user receives it. I have deactivated all my plugins except buddypress still I encounter the same problem. I change my theme to bp-default theme, yet the problem still persist. I even uploaded a non-buddypress to take advantage of the 1.7 feature but the problem still persist.

I am at my wits’ end here. Please can you help or suggest an approach for me.

    Shalom

@ekine I pointed this out about a week ago:

    https://buddypress.org/support/topic/buddypress-org-link-error/

rather simple to fix, hopefully the person in charge of the website will see this and change the a href to buddypress from bbpress

You can download the beta from the blog link above, it’s pretty solid. No direct ETA as it depends on bugs found.

Is there an ETA on 1.7?

I’m waiting for its release to do a major upgrade on both WordPress and BuddyPress all at once …

No sidebar… Should i go through a clean install of both buddypress and bbpress ?

@creativepixels There’s still hope. I overlooked the fact that you already went through the Appearance > BP Compatibility process. So here’s what you’ll do:

    – Deactivate BP template pack plugin

    – Remove the 6 BuddyPress folders transferred to your supreme theme’s folder in wp-content/themes/supreme-theme folder namely: /activity, /blogs, /forums, /groups, /members, and /registration.

    – Clear cache and check your BP pages now.

Never used BB or BuddyPress before.

Installing for a client with S2Member and MU.

Is S2member a good plugin for paid listings in BuddyPress and charging for Sub Sites?

Can’t get the forums working as well.

Do i need to add the shortcodes and change a slug?

Not sure which links to add to the menu as i know you can create forums under that tag but also create page named forums.

    Cheers

bumping this if anyone could please give an opinion as to whether the issue I’ve found deserves a trac ticket i’d appreciate it again i’m not sure if this bug is already known or even exists in 1.7 but i couldn’t find anything in trac and id assume it’s still there in 1.7 if it was unknown in 1.6.x
