KeymasterWhat versions of bbPress and BuddyPress are you using, and which is displaying the wrong time?

KeymasterGoing to close this thread; BuddyPress doesn’t have any ads in it, so it’s either another plugin, your theme, or — most likely — malware on your computer.

Hugo Ashmore
ParticipantYes plenty are using it on production sites, doesn’t mean though that there isn’t work involved in getting/keeping it running, WP/BP may work out the box but that’s only the beginning of things and issues are a fact of life with any application.

Participant@harvey1233 – I don’t see any hypertext ads on this site or on justinharvey.com. I think something has infected your browser or your PC.

@jchamp311 That happens by default when you’re logged in naturally. Log out first to check out register page 🙂

Participant@harvey1233 what site are you referring to as Surf Cannon? You posted http://justinharvey.com/ as site URI in your other post.
installed a few widgets and now the ads are stuck on my site
Again, BuddyPress does not add those pop-up ad widgets to anyone’s site nor is BuddyPress responsible for such.
The ads pop up from text within my web page.
URI to page with pop up?

ParticipantHi all and thanks for all the info 🙂
I’m looking aswell for a plugin that automatically fill in the Buddypress users’ X-Profile data from the uers’ Facebook profiles.
I have tried the free version of https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-fb-autoconnect/ but it has a serious problem. If I login with my FB account a few times, this plugin create a new user every time in the wp_users table. I don’t know if the premium version of this plugin fix this problem, so if any of you have tested it, I would be very thankful for your comments 🙂

Participantwhat worked for me was to copy the source code of my forum page and slap in into the home page
@harvey1233 If you want your forum index page as your home page:
1. Create a new empty Page named “Blog” or “News” or whatever you want to represent as the list of new Posts in your site.
2. Go to wp-admin – Settings > Reading – Front Page Displays > Choose Static Page.
3. For Front Page – select the name of your Forums page
4. For Posts Page – select the name you set in #1 above.
5. Click on “Save Changes” button on the same panel.January 3, 2013 at 3:05 pm #149543In reply to: Must Use Social Login Only

ParticipantHi @purplemonkeyking you only have to disable the users’ registration option here: http://example.com/wp-admin/network/settings.php
Then, try to connect with the plugin you’re using and done. I’m using the same plugin and it works for me 😉
By the way, are you using the premium version of https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-fb-autoconnect/ it’s because I need the premium BP features and I would like to know other people opinion before to buy it.
Thanks!
