    I use a WordPress theme I made to accomplish this. I’ve been asking on the forums if anyone wants me to release it for free but I’ve had no response/ interest from anyone yet. https://buddypress.org/support/topic/flat-portal-client-area-child-theme-of-twenty-thirteen/

    It has all the functionality you want.

    I made it so that only admin can see all the users and only friends can see each others profiles if not admin.

    @barney92 your photo makes you look like a dancing hotdog…wait…

    Is it really acceptable to come on here and use abusive, offensive slurs like that? Using the word ‘retard’ is completely inappropriate.

    Anyway, this is a support forum, and I am asking for support. Most people are happy to help.

    I am still learning Buddypress so this is a great place to develop. I contribute regularly to WordPress forums and Stack Exchange to help others.

    I previously had the “BP Compatibility Pack” without knowing that I didn’t actually need it for the new BP version. Could that plugin have cause the issue at hand?

    If you mean the BP Template Pack, then yes, you don’t need it. I would delete that from the plugins page. If you already ran the BP Template Pack with your theme activated, then remove the BuddyPress folders which might have been moved to your current theme in server namely: /activity, /blogs, /forums, /groups, /members, and /registration

    @abses91 the platform theme has a proprietary templating system which could have caused that issue. You’d need a simple buddypress.php file in your site’s theme folder which includes the HTML structure you want for all your BuddyPress pages along with WP loop with wp_title and wp_content. On another note, wasn’t there a plugin to bridge the platform theme with BP? Have you tried checking out or posting at the platform theme’s forums to see if others have experienced the same issue and if they have resolved it?

    P.S. RE plugin bridge – that was for another theme.

    @ofloveandbeauty Don’t you need Genesis Connect for BuddyPress plugin anymore for your StudioPress theme? Have you checked out StudioPress forums if others have resolved the same issue?

    I don’t see any such problem with my bbPress forums right now, however i had to revert to an earlier version of BuddyPress in order to make the site work, so i no longer have the problem on my site. Did you have the latest version of BuddyPress installed when you had this problem?

    Hi,

    I have WP 3.6.1., BuddyPress 1.9.1., bbPress 2.5.2., Cubepoints 3.2.1. and CubePoints Buddypress Integration 1.9.8.9..
    I want to display the avatars in the CubePoint Top Users Widget.
    I tried many found solutions on several forums, just to mention some of them:
    1) adding code to cp_hooks.php
    $y[‘avatar’] = get_avatar($user->ID,$size = ’30’);
    $string = str_replace(‘%avatar%’, $y[‘avatar’], $string);
    And add %avatar% in the text field of the widget. Empty Avatars appears of the top users while they all have avatars uploaded in their profile.
    2) I tried the solution of r-a-y
    Added functions.php to the template/default folder of bbPress. But it is still not working (settings>discussions is well set up). BUT I noticed that all avatars have a path like /wp-content/uploads/avatars/#/’. $author_id. Between /avatars/ and the author_id there is a number that is different from one member to another. How can I adadpt the path to fit it?
    3) I mixed solution 1 with bp code and added in cp_hooks.php
    $y[‘avatar’] = get_avatar( bbp_get_current_user_id(), ’30’ );
    This display of course the same avatar for all top users in the widget, naimly the avatar of the logged in user.
    4) is a mixed of 1) and r-a-y solution
    added in cp_hooks.php $y[‘avatar’] = get_avatar(bb_bp_avatar($user->ID), ’30’ );
    and added functions.php to the my-template folder of bbPress, but it is not working.

    Anny help appreciated.
    T.

    @natehawkes right, I see… Yes, somebody in the bbPress forum should be able to help!

    @henrywright No, it’s in relation to a post I made on the main WordPress forum: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/author-box-outside-of-the-loop?replies=1. Since then, I have found all the functions apart from the number of forum posts. I have only now realised that I posted this in BuddyPress, and not bbPress, which is the area I am looking for. I have both the blog posts and the blog comments working, and I also have my friends count displaying, but not the forum posts.

    Yes, a private community is exactly what I’m after. We’re a several-thousand member strong community who have been operating on a standard forums software for 8 years, and trying to convert to a more “social” type platform. (no blogging at all, but ironically WP appears to fit the bill the best) 🙂

    Also please bear in mind some of these requirements are going to require some coding skills, you have a quite a few custom requirements which are going to be beyond the scope of the forum to provide simple answers on. Some aspects such as frontend posting may be served by third party plugins such as bp-simple-front-end-post though.

    It sounds like you’re heading in the direction of a private community. Keep in mind that if it’s private, then search engines can’t index your content. Which may be good or bad, depending on your goals.

    You’ll find a lot of info by searching this support forum or the web for “buddyPress private community”

    For instance:

    I believe it’s accomplish by https://codex.buddypress.org/buddypress-components-and-features/activity-streams/ Activity streams unless you are are wanting to add the bbpress forums.

    I think I’ve got this one sorted… I created a “private” group with group forums, and invited the administrator members. The 6 admin team members can see this forum, and the moderators cannot.

    there is only one level of hidden forums in bbpress. there probably is way to extend that but it’s way above my pay grade.

    Thanks @modemlooper. My question is this, though: I want to have 2 hidden forums, one for the moderator team, and one for the site administration team.
    – I do not want regular users to access either one (done!)
    – I do not want the moderator team accessing the site administrators forum.

    It’s this second option that I’m not sure about.

    moderators and admin can only see a hidden forum.

    Thanks for the reply. I think I’m fully installed, and now trying to get things set up. One question that I haven’t found an answer for yet… are there different moderator “levels”?

    In our current forums setup, we have a forum board that only the site administrators (6 of us) can access. The moderators (a team of about 10 or so) have access to, and “powers” over, the rest of the forums areas.

    Can something like this be set up in this environment, so that the site administrators can have a private discussion area, not accessible by the moderator team?

    Thanks for your reply.

    Yeh I have that placed in the text of the Forum page.

    Is there anything else I can do.

    All the stuff I read tell you what to do to get a Login widget and associated widgets, but I can’t find any advise on identifying a problem and then addressing it if you follow the instructions as I have and the Login and other widgets that I’ve placed in the bbPress Sidebar on the Widgets page don’t appear on the site.

    Not sure of your question but seems like your forum page is not displaying anything?

    If you do not have a page in the admin with slug and title forum create one and then place this

    [bbp-forum-index]

    in the text editor and save.

    i think he platform itself will be fine but you should be aware that user levels only apply to wordpress and bbpress. buddypress itself doesn’t really use them so your moderators will be able to have extended authority in your forums but they will have no special powers over groups themselves (they will be able to moderate any group forums that are created however) only full wp admins can moderate groups (although you can assign a member to be a group admin manually as admin).

    I’m also looking for a similar solution to this, it’s just so unlogical to have such a fine working BuddyBar “My Accounts” but in such a place where it simply gets burried.
    I am using mostly widgets together with the main navigation. And I would so desperately just want to add THAT menu, into my own excisting menu’s if I only knew how. Or add it to a widget I would settle for that as well. It’s too bad this isn’t a standard function from Buddypress cause I really don’t like letting people into my wordpress backend. So I would prefer to disable the Admin bar for my members. But now I can’t because then they don’t have a menu.
    I also tested the new Buddypress componants in wordpress custom menu’s this is a good step in the right direction. But you don’t have links like to someone’s forum topics, favorites, subscribed etc. Like you have in the buddybar. Or going to the Change avatar link, just too many goodies to miss to leave out the admin bar now.
    Can someone help out here?

    Sorry, yeh that’s one of the many things I’ve done thinking it has to be a theme issue, but the sidebar still doesn’t appear using ten, eleven etc.

    I have to be doing something daft. I mean I’m looking at the widget page and I’ve got the bbPress sidebar there at the right of the page, but I’ve not directed it to the forum page, but there’s no facility to do that.

    I know I’m beat. I’ll end up trying another sidebar widget but I see no reason to find the same problem.
