    yes it is right in the codex: https://codex.bbpress.org/forum-settings/

    but I don’t think BP has it

    This is a great idea and frankly I’m surprised that it has not been included already. And not just for friend requests but for pretty much all activity on the site: comments, forum posts, etc.

    As long as you limit the frequency to what is ‘human’ you are making spammers’ lives very difficult. The issue is to not make legitimate users upset by setting it too low. But that can be tweaked easily to perfection.

    This is way beyond the scope of this help forum. Have you tried creating a loop that pulls the custom post type directly?

    $args = array( 'post_type' => 'product', 'posts_per_page' => 10 );
    $loop = new WP_Query( $args );
    while ( $loop->have_posts() ) : $loop->the_post();
    	the_title();
    	echo '<div class="entry-content">';
    	the_content();
    	echo '</div>';
    endwhile;

    the topic created is not showing any post created by the user in bbpress, only just shows โ€œViewing 2 topics โ€“ 1 through 2 (of 2 total)โ€. Is there a way to solve this issue?

    The topics created by the user should show up. Use Twenty Twelve theme to double-check.

    WP/BP versions? Did you set up the Sitewide and/or Group Forums? https://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/

    To clarify on my type above:

    This code does NOT work (can’t reorder the forums tab):

    $bp->bp_options_nav[$bp->groups->current_group->slug]['forum']['position'] = '99';

    But this code DOES work (I can reorder the Home tab)

    $bp->bp_options_nav[$bp->groups->current_group->slug]['home']['position'] = '99';

    Thank you again for any help you can provide!

    Meanwhile I did find, that user/template-tags.php did have a known issue. But patching that did not change behaviour at a specific way to reproduce the problem:

    User X is member of group A, but not group B. Both groups do have hidden forums. Both Forums are in a hidden Category “Gruppenforen” (German for group forums).
    When User X goes to the forum of group A and then follows the link in the group to “Gruppenforen” and onlky at that moment the widget for recent topics shows all topics in “Gruppenforen” includigts those of group B, that user X is not supposed to see.

    Your timing is immaculate. ๐Ÿ™‚ I just spotted a help file saying that I needed to delete old bp files in the theme before upgrading to 1.70. So I’d turned it off and was looking at the theme, which is Weaver II. Also searched the Weaver site for issues and they all point back at BP. ๐Ÿ™

    I memory is bad on this but I either upgraded to BP 1.71 first before changing to Weaver II, from an older theme called Elbee Elgee, or or visa versa, moved to Weaver and then upgraded from the older version of BP.

    Either way, I didn’t have the old BP template pack installed, nor do I see any of files I was told to delete at this link in step 3: https://codex.buddypress.org/bp-17-upgrading-template-packed-themes/

    3. Delete the six (6) BP folders transferred to your themeโ€™s folder in server: /activity, /blogs, /forums, /groups, /members, and /registration. If you have a header-buddypress.php, sidebar-buddypress.php and/or a footer-buddypress.php file, delete those too via s/FTP or control panel.

    My first action was to roll back the site a week. All the plugins were still current after putting the old database back other than the theme rolled back. Was just rebuilding the theme first before turning BP back on. which will be in a few more minutes…

    I went back to the original answer found here
    http://buddydev.com/support/forums/topic/wp-search-results-page-kills-bp-member-widgets/

    At this time, I do have the code working so that a wordpress search doesn’t wipe out buddypress member widgets and all the other functionality works on the members directory page too.

    Here was my solution:
    In bp-members-template.php, I remarked out lines 305-311 and replaced them with

    if ( !is_search()&&isset( $_REQUEST['s'] ) && !empty( $_REQUEST['s'] ) )
            $search_terms = $_REQUEST['s'];

    So I’m back to the question/concern of 4 or so hours ago. I don’t feel that modifying core code is ever a good idea. Has anyone come up with a better way to solve this that makes it more durable when plugin updates are applied?

    Wow, that is pretty harsh! BuddyPress is no scam, it is free software built by an amazing development team and they also give free support. If your upset because you cant figure out something then ask the community. The community is made of volunteers that are not compensated so please keep that in mind. You can’t come on here and demand support and expect a volunteer to answer you immediately because they do this on their free time and have lives and responsibilities of their own that take precedence over the forums. Give your thread 24 hours then if no one reply’s you can politely bump it. I have made many buddypress sites and I am not affiliated in any way with the Dev team or moderation team and I can assure you it is the real deal. I do volunteer and help here when I can as a way of paying the help I have received forward. ๐Ÿ™‚

    You can try this:
    https://github.com/bphelp/activity-privacy-component
    It gives you an activity stream that includes yours and your friends activities only. It was only tested up to WP 3.5.1 and BP 1.7.1 and I decided not to add any further development since @megainfo ‘s BuddyPress Activity Privacy plugin release, because for my purposes it made it obsolete but it may fit your requirement so use it at your own risk. As far as followers go, I thought there was another plugin that handled that already. Feel free to use and modify the plugin anyway you choose and if you add code that may make it useful for others then feel free to share it on the forum as I am sure others may want the same functionality and they would appreciate it. ๐Ÿ™‚

    @mercime I tried that, but it still displays the wrong forum name, as seen here: http://imgur.com/ZVMVdSq.

    In the ‘create new topic’, it’s correct. But the header and the recent post information is incorrect.

    What theme are you using? What plugins do you have installed? If you deactivate BuddyPress, does /forums/ go to the correct page like this one (if you added the shortcode/s) http://testbp.org/discussion/ ?

    Right I have /forum/ on single slugs.
    and /forums/ on archive slugs.
    I also have a /forums page that doesn’t connect when I try example.com/forums, it goes straight to the forum index. I can tell because my /forums page has a sidebar enabled and /forums does not.
    What do I need to do?

    Hi, thanks so much for your reply.

    Unfortunately my site is on localhost. As above, I tried my best to describe the issue.
    Oh i see, i am still deciding and trying out each different buddypress theme.

    for example – http://para.llel.us/themes/salutation-wp/members/admin/
    the menu of the activity,profile,site1 till forum, if i install plugin that add menu item, the menu item break into second row and overlap the first row abit.
    Any solution?
