    @ciumbargi know that those who help out in these forums are all volunteers who generously do their best to assist others even though they are not paid to do so. It is indeed unfortunate that you see an advice about how to find the correct selectors in different browsers as a negative even after some assistance was already given for what was not quite clear in the request.

    As I see it, the issue is resolved in your site viewing it using Firefox. If it is not, then I advise you to post at the Pagelines forums and include info about what browser you’re using so that they can fix it … thereby benefiting the rest of the Pagelines customers.

    Have a nice day.

    @raminkhan Please bring this to the attention of the theme author by posting at theme’s support forums at https://wordpress.org/support/theme/frisco-for-buddypress It would be good if you can attach a screenshot of the issue or barring that, be more specific about your description of the issue.

    I found a tutorial by Spencer Forum that had step-by-step instructions that I think cleared up my issues.  I was able to change the slugs and I think things are working correctly in the forum area now.  Here is his tutorial which will hopefully benefit others:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8mh3f6Vzbo

    Now I’m having problems with registration.  I opened it up so that a few of our members could register and I could test what happened.  Two of them couldn’t access their profiles and kept getting the wordpress log in page.  Spence’s video also addressed some of that and I hope that the changes I made will fix that.  But, more importantly, I have been looking for a plug-in that will allow people to apply for entry to the site.  This site is going to be a free forum for our membership organization.  The plug-ins that I have seen are for paid memberships and have a lot more weight than I want (configuration with Pay Pal, etc.).

    I did install the membership plug-in which hopefully fixed the problems I had with the two members, but that doesn’t offer any kind of registration options.  I would like it to operate like private Facebook groups: apply and get let in.

    @mercime I did not blamed anyone, i blamed the attitude. Any premium or free theme or plugin that will be used with Buddypress and has support for Buddypress must be treated in a better way as they promote through their use the Buddypress product. From what i can see Buddypress tries to offer maximum compatibility with any theme.

    So, the team can learn from premium plugins and themes the users offer when they have questions. That should be the attitude, according to the Buddypress statement.

    Again, this is a SUPPORT forum not at I Do not SUPPORT people asking and ways to improve our services.

    Pagelines offers their support, i expected a combined support where all 3 parties can learn not to act like there is a war out there. The option it is simple. You can choose to help or ignore the post. If a person asks for support offer it because they need it not because they want to disturb ones day.

    and decided that it’s probably best to get rid of the site wide forums

    @rayela if you want to have the forums in your site, keep the site wide forums as the BP internel group forums are being merged into the sitewide forums.

    If I uninstall the bppress plug-in and reinstall it, will I lose all of the groups that I created?

    No, you will not lose the groups you have created. But then again, per previous paragraph, if you plan to have forums in your site, you should keep bbPress forums activated in your site.

    http://www.tafaforum.com/forums/ …. I think that is the biggest problem that is keeping the sitewide forums from working properly.

    I believe you’ve figured out by now that that link does lead to the sitewide forums

    @ciumbargi I don’t see why you should be blaming BuddyPress for any flaws 🙂 when you’re using a premium pagelines theme which requires afaik a premium pagelines plugin for BP compatibility. The style issues are either with your theme or your plugin and since you’ve paid for both, you should get support from author by posting in pagelines forums.

    @mercime This helped me and got my test buddypress1.7 site correct…I changed the bbpress slug to discussions and using the domain.com/discussions i see the forum. I am using group forums and all topics are displaying in that page properly…now do i need to redirect that page to my actual forum page or is there any short code for it?

    @ciumbargi Big avatars at beginning of the stream denote “Major” activities which include new blog post published, new forum topic posted, etc. Small avatars at the beginning of the stream row denote “minor” activities which include joining a group, new friendships, new registrations, etc. So there is a method to distinguish which is which.

    If you still want to make those changes, add the following to your stylesheet
    <code>.activity-list li.mini .activity-avatar img.avatar,
    .activity-list li.mini .activity-avatar img.FB_profile_pic {
    height: 50px;
    margin-left: 0;
    width: 50px;
    }</code>

    If you’re using browsers like FireFox, Chrome or Safari, right click on the element you want to change, choose “Inspect Element” from the box which shows up and you’ll find the styles you would need to add/change in your  theme.

    So apparently all I was missing was: do_action( ‘bp_head’ ); in my header.php file. That fixed it.

    @mercime

    @daiyoukai Change to BP Default theme and check if the actions for the Group Forums are working or not.

    Genesis theme framework. … I enabled sitewide forums today.

    In other words, you had BuddyPress activated first and you went through the installation process where the default page name and slug of the Group Forums (unless you disabled it during the process) is Forums. The slug/name for your new bbPress sitewide forums page must be different from the slug/name of your Group Forums (Forums). So go to Settings > Forums and change the slug if you haven’t done it yet to e.g. discussions. Then create a new Page discussions and add the bbPress shortcode for forum index e.g.

    Don’t know how Genesis Connect works with BP and bbPress since I don’t use the framework. If the above instruction fails, change to BP Default theme to check if issue is resolved.

    I did not have the shortcode on the page but have since added [bbp-forum-index]. Still, the page won’t show. Also, I tried logging out as well as viewing on multiple devices and cannot get register or activate to show either.

    Thanks modemlooper and mercime for the good suggestions

    Aaand scratch that. While it is a template issue, using my custom theme still causes it to break. I’m not sure which files I can alter to fix the issue.

    Ugh. I feel stupid. It was the template files. I simply recopied over using BP-Template-Pack and it started working.

    And to think I reinstalled the entire thing for nothing.

    oops, sorry, was code for the old buddybar. It’s  now called Toolbar and implemented by default on BP, but i don’t use it.
    Also, be a bit more explicit next time you ask for something. They’re many menus in BP. 😉

    Use this in functions.php (tested: works on WP 3.5/BP 1.6.3 MS)

    function admin_bar_remove_this(){
    global $wp_admin_bar;
    $wp_admin_bar->remove_node('my-account-forums-favorites');
    }
    add_action('wp_before_admin_bar_render','admin_bar_remove_this');

    The node id’s are all in the footer html of each page where the toolbar appears. This means you have to view the page source code to get the node id you want to remove.
    Menu items are in li tags and each li as a ID which begins with “wp-admin-bar-” followed by “-node-name”

    Hi…I tried the following to re-order my navigation and remove the ‘favorite topics’ under forums..It did not work! Any ideas??..Nyla

    function tricks_change_bp_tag_position()
    {
    global $bp;

    $bp->bp_nav[‘profile’][‘position’] = 10;
    $bp->bp_nav[‘friends’][‘position’] = 20;
    $bp->bp_nav[‘messages’][‘position’] = 30;
    $bp->bp_nav[‘groups’][‘position’] = 40;
    $bp->bp_nav[‘forum’][‘position’] = 50;
    $bp->bp_nav[‘settings’][‘position’] = 60;
    }
    add_action( ‘bp_init’, ‘tricks_change_bp_tag_position’, 999 );
    add_action( ‘wp_head’, ‘tricks_change_bp_tag_position’,9 );

    function bbg_remove_favorite_topics_from_forum() { bp_core_remove_sub_nav_item(
    bp_get_current_forum_slug(), ‘favorite-topics’ ); }
    add_action( ‘bp_setup_nav’, ‘bbg_remove_favorite_topics_from_forum’ );
    ?>

    Hello again,

    Under ‘forums’ the ‘favorite topics’ tab does not seem to work. I would like to remove/hide it. What is the CSS code as it is a sub item of forums’

    I also want to ADD an item to the ‘Groups’ subnav which is ‘Join Groups’ which takes the user to the main Groups page which is on the wp navigation primary menu.

    Cheers – Nyla

    Hi valuser…That worked! Thank you. (just removed edit profile and left the rest)

    I also want to re-order the items so that ‘profile’ comes first (currently forums, friends, groups, messages, settinge , profile) to profile, friends, messages, groups, forums, settings.

    I’m putting in a new topic…I know that this has been raised before bu nothing seemed to work! If you have any idea please let me know…Nyla

    As for Dicussion Forums – if you’re referring to the bbPress sitewide forums, did you add the forum index shortcode to the Page for discussion forums?

    Okay….I am completely frustrated at this point guys.
    I started off with a fresh install of 1.6.2 and tried applying the patches thru cpanel as suggested. First I tried 6326 suggested by mercime but as wpte pointed out it was from upstream which didn’t work.

    Then I did another fresh install along with a fresh install of bb Press and tried 4510 no luck. Then as r-a-y suggested I tried the 6704 same result and finally broke down and just installed 1.6.3. Still no go. I’ve been experiencing the same issues since I started this process over 2 weeks ago. I can create groups, forums and post replies… however, within the group and/or forum or even after going in using the “Activity” link on my sidebar to access the “Activity Stream Directory” page, I CAN NOT do the following:

    I’ve been experiencing the same issues since I started this process over 2 weeks ago. I can create groups, forums and post replies… however, within the group and/or forum or even after going in using the “Activity” link on my sidebar to access the “Activity Stream Directory” page, I CAN NOT do the following:
    1. Post to the text box which is should expand the box and generate a button. Neither actions are functioning.
    2. When commenting on a previous member’s post using the 3 shaded buttons ,
    , member avatar along with an expanded text box should be generated along with a “button” and the instruction
    Neither of these are functioning by design as well.
    When pressing the button, the command generates the avatar, text input box and “button” with the instruction but then it just refreshes the page. Not allowing you to post the comment.
