Participant@wadams92101 you can install Group Forums. While it will be merged with Sitewide Forums (bbPress plugin) come BP 1.7 or so; be assured that the merge will be handled as seamlessly as possible. John James Jacoby, the Lead Developer of BuddyPress is the same Lead Developer of bbPress

MemberHave you tried the spam plugin, Bad Behavior? I can’t remember if I read about it on the Support forums here, or if I just Googled “Buddypress Spam” and read a recommendation of it on another site, but it seems to be working for us since we started using it a few weeks ago. I haven’t found any issues with how it functions with Buddypress, either, so far.

Participant== how can I allow user to create account through my registration page.? ==
@mechnoflux enable registration in Settings > General on single WP site
== also how to connect forum directly to buddy press page? ==
Which forum are you referring to, the Group Forums (custom bbPress in BP) or Sitewide Forums (bbPress plugin)?

Keymaster@anointed – The activity entry reply vs. edit was addressed here:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4350I tried to duplicate your problem on BP 1.7-bleeding and I can’t experience what you’re experiencing.
I edited a forum topic and the activity entry says “x edited the forum topic Y in the group Z”.
This is what I see when I edit a forum topic:

—
This is what I see when I edit a forum reply:

(Off-topic: should probably rename the h3 tag here to “Edit your forum reply in ‘New Topic'”)
—
If you’re using some plugins or you have modified your BP template files, this might also be contributing to your problem.
Edit: I see that you’re using bbPress trunk and not bundled bbPress. If you’re using bbPress v2.0 integration with groups, then that’s probably what’s causing the issue. Still some refining to do before everything gels with one another!

Participant@obsidianmarketing First of all, you do not need to make anything multisite if it is not needed at all. I just wanted to clarify the environment of your BuddyPress installation as to why the installation wizard is not working per your topic title in this forum. BP works in either single WP or in multisite. So if you don’t want/need to allow your members to create blogs in BP site at e.g. subsite1.example.com, then you don’t need to make it multisite at all.

ParticipantSeptember 17, 2012 at 5:05 pm #141899@mercime
Participant@obsidianmarketing 2 WP instances or 1 Multisite installation == it all depends on what kind of website you are running.
Example 1: I have 2 WP instances for an organization where the main site, http://www.example.com deals mostly with organization blog/news plus around 700 pages of general information. The subsite community.example.com is the private BP site on a second database.
Example 2: For another installation, it’s multisite and the information generated in the main site is from the user blogs.== Since I already have WP installed on my sub-domain do I need to uninstall it on the sub-domain first? If so does that just mean that I will delete the folder that was created with the name of the sub-domain in the public_html folder? ==
Before you make any major changes to your installation, backup DB and server folders. If you believe that your organization will be better served with a multisite installation, then deactivate BuddyPress and create a network (make multisite) on example.com. Then you might want to import DB of subsite into DB of main site if you already have added a lot of information. In certain cases, you only need to import the XML export from your WP install in subsite.example.com
For more assistance should you go the multisite route, please go to https://wordpress.org/support/forum/multisite

Participant@sooskriszta if you have already created a ticket on the subject don’t call out individual core devs on the forum it’s pointless, they will see the ticket and respond there if justified, doesn’t really help to further raise issue here treally.

ParticipantI think this is a bug that was found when integrating bbPress 2.1 with Buddypress. If that’s the same problem, they are working on a fix for bbPress 2.2 https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/1906

ParticipantYeah I’m quickly learning that the buddypress and bbpress trunk is nowhere near as stable as the WordPress trunk. I’ve always run the WordPress svn trunk updated nightly for years now and have never had a problem.

@mercime
Participant@mahdiar those who help out here are all volunteers living in different time zones. I suggest you start a new topic where you should provide detailed information about your installation and whether you have done basic troubleshooting like changing to BP Default theme to check if issue is corrected.
September 16, 2012 at 10:12 pm #141828In reply to: how to add a link only viewable to user’s profile?
@mercime
Participant@artxx on the link to profile page, you add the code yourself https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/adding-dynamic-link-to-main-menu-item/
Or use https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-profile-menu/ if you’re using bp-default or child theme of the BP Default theme.
As for incorporating jQuery Edit in Place plugin with members’ profile pages, that’s beyond the scope of the forums. You’d either have to code it yourself and/or post it in jQuery forums or stackexchange.com where a volunteer may be available to assist you or hire a developer to do so.
