@blixus Confirmed that based on the HTML structure of your theme, you will be only need to create two new files, header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php to make the BP templates compatible with your theme.

If you’ve revised any of the BP template files transferred to your celebritypress theme folder in server during the BP Compatibility process, please delete the 6 BP folders transferred to your celebritypress theme folder in server – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /members, /groups, /register – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility again to make sure that you have clean template files.

A. COPY your theme’s header.php and Save As > header-buddypress.php

Open up header-buddypress.php and at the BOTTOM of the file, below other code contained within, add this:

@rhenium3 in the right sidebar under support forums select which title would best fit your support topic, then in the menu above the topics in the main page area select New Topic. Scroll down if necessary and type in the title, and content. Then click the Post Topic button at the bottom.

Sure enough, @peeld, your code A) set FORUMS as the default tab, and broke the activity updates! Thanks for the help!

I don’t actually mind losing the activity updates, but I’m sure most folks’ projects could benefit from a solution here that didn’t break that function.

Anyone have input here?

@maryefern strange situation, only encountered this way back BP 1.0. :

1. Check MySQL version. WP requires MySQL version 5.0 or greater. If you cannot find the version, ask your webhost.

2. If you have version 5.0 or greater, download zip files of WordPress and BuddyPress, then manually re-upload (via FTP/File Manager) WP and BP files to server in respective directories

I really think this needs an update in the core; in blog posts, the title of the post always comes first. same should be true here with the topic title.

Cool start, you’ve posted this in the gallery section so probably for your questions you would get more responses if you put them each in a post in one of the other forums. For instance the ‘Creating and Extending’ for customisation or ‘Installing BuddyPress’ for setting up, or ‘How-To and Troubleshooting’ for any issues and after set up.

As far as commenting on the site I’d love to see the front page show more of the community within. I always think it’s a shame to just have a wall of text when you land on a community. Maybe expand on the logo styling and rough up (for want of a better design term) the other elements. I’m a sucker for a bit of personality in a site and think considering your topic you could do that fairly easily.

Ok, I followed your directions and still no bb tables (I am reactivating my theme and plugins now, so that users don’t get disgruntled, but let me know if you need to see it with the default). What do you think are my options now?

Your pages are reading the CSS perfectly correctly.

It’s your templates that need adjusting – you’ve installed a photo plugin, and not rewritten the templates to work with your theme.

You may find a kindly soul on here who’ll rewrite your templates for free for you – alternatively, you could try posting on the job board for a developer: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-jobs-board/forum/

– Delete bb-config.php,
– change to bp-default theme,
– deactivate ALL plugins except BuddyPPress,
– go to BuddyPress > Forums
– reinstall Group Forums
– check if bb tables are created in DB

@andrea_r thank you. At the time I answered in my second post, @maryefern ‘s site had the Eleven40 theme and many plugins activated in the site as it is right now, hence reference to Genesis plugin and forums.

1. check if the seven xx_bb_xx tables for the group forums were created in your database when you installed Group Forums, as seen here

2. if the tables are there, then change to bp-default theme and deactivate ALL plugins except BuddyPress to check if issue is resolved.

BP is not involved at this juncture so at this point I suggest that you post this at https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting and do include the information you just posted so all’s clear with the volunteers.

When using the default BP theme, I made sure that group forums were installed and that the bb-config.php file had the correct settings. Then I went into a group I already had set up and tried starting a new topic. No go. Then I deleted the group and made a new one, but still no go. I also tried toggling the checkbox, “Enable discussion forum” under the admin settings on the front-end, but still getting the same red error message. In other words, the results are exactly the same regardless of whether I have the default theme installed or not.

Please describe fully how it is not working when you are using the default BP theme.

If you cannot get it working using the default Buddypress theme – it’s not a Genesis issue and the plugin will not help.

Thanks @mercime I was aware of the widget but I prefer to have the same userbase across the network. I’ve been trying to find the function you’ve mentioned in the BuddyDev forums, but unfortunately no luck…

This is not exactly what I was looking for because I would need to add multiple tabs to the Projects pages in addition to removing features such as forums. Also, I would need to rename them from Groups to Projects.

It seems like you’re using a 3rd-party plugin for the group forum editor. Please contact the plugin developer for support.

OK, Maybe the reason why group forums aren’t working for you is because Genesis has own premium BP compatibility plugin which you should use with Genesis themes and not BP Template Pack, if I recall well. Have you posted your group forum issues at StudyioPress forums?
