In reply to: Activity Link Redirecting to Home Page
Paul Barthmaier (pbrocks)
ParticipantI’m having a similar issue. I moved BP to a subdomain site on my network. Forums and Groups are fine. Activity and Members do not work. I don’t have anything new in htaccess because it caused infinite looping. For wp-config, I have:
define(‘WP_DEBUG’, false);
define(‘WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE’, true);
define(‘MULTISITE’, true);
define(‘SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL’, true);
$base = ‘/’;
define(‘DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE’, ‘qiaccess.com’);
define(‘PATH_CURRENT_SITE’, ‘/’);
define(‘SITE_ID_CURRENT_SITE’, 1);
define(‘BLOG_ID_CURRENT_SITE’, 1);
define( ‘SUNRISE’, ‘on’ );
define ( ‘BP_ROOT_BLOG’, 105 );July 23, 2012 at 1:04 pm #137832In reply to: Is there a shortcode for usernames?

ParticipantThe problem is in a 3rd party plugin that you are using — it hasn’t been updated for nearly 2 years.
You will be best to ask on the support forums for the plugin:

Roger Coathup
ParticipantPaul’s suggestion to fix this doesn’t require any wp-admin access — just FTP and an editor.
Try working through it. If that fails try removing BuddyPress from your plugins folder (again that just needs FTP access).
And, of course, Googling the whole error is likely to return nothing — your error message has your account name in it, and a number of bytes exhausted that’s specific to your case — try simply googling the relevant portion: “fatal error: allowed memory size”
Finally, if you really want help on this forum, you need to help yourself a little –try giving your thread a meaningful title, so visitors will know the help you’re looking for.

MemberHey!
Been doing a little more digging, and I’ve found the part you mentioned in Firebug (shows as inline, with no file name) but it doesn’t appear in my theme css or functions, or within buddy press as far as I can see.
Any idea how I would go about locating it / is there an easy way to find out what file Firebug is on about?
Thanks again.

MemberAhh ok, I can go fix that. Thanks!
Think it was a theme thing but I know enough to be able to change those around.

@mercime
ParticipantThank you @boonebgorges First tests looking good except for a couple of my custom bp-default child themes

Have to update BP Codex on new Activity Stream panel, group/sitewide forums, etc

ParticipantJust to be clear, what precisely can you not “reply” to? Activity stream updates/comments/etc or BP Group Forum posts or bbPress Sitewide forum posts or blog posts comments?

Roger Coathup
ParticipantHi Auktweena — that plugin is not related to BuddyPress, so you would be better off asking questions on the forum for the plugin, or on the wordpress.org forums.
As for step 3 – that’s standard ‘stuff’ for integrating a plugin’s templates into the theme you’re using for your website. This article gives you an introduction to theme development in WordPress: https://codex.wordpress.org/Theme_Development
Generally, theme work requires PHP development experience. In your case, to get the basics up and running, it looks like you just need to copy some files… you’ll need an FTP client to navigate and copy / move around the files on your website.

ParticipantOpps, nevermind. I had Groups disabled under Components, but not Discussion Forums because when I was installing the site-wide forums I did get an error back for not having that checked so I re-checked it. Unchecked it and those two items disappeared and the forums are still working for now.
July 21, 2012 at 5:44 pm #137752oceanwidedesigns
ParticipantThanks… but I already had both unchecked and those two items still appear.

ModeratorThe issues appear to be CSS such as this:
`div.reply {
height: 32px;
}`I’d recommend not fixing things to height where you don’t know how much text would be in them.

MemberThanks! It’s over at http://www.writercomposeyourself.com; at the moment because I haven’t been able to fix the permissions you should be able to get into the forums through the footer links.
It would be really helpful if you could take a look (I’m really not a coder), but if it does give you trouble getting in let me know and I’ll make you a free account.

Keymaster“Forum Topics” and “Forum Replies” are added by BuddyPress, and work for bbPress 1.x (aka Group Forums).
“Topics” and “Replies” are added by and are work for bbPress 2.x content (aka Site Wide Forums).
If you’re using bbPress 2.1, you don’t need to use Group Forums. Go to your WordPress admin > Settings > BuddyPress, then Components, and disable Group Forums.
Then go to the bbPress Settings page, and if you scroll to the bottom, there will be a “Enable Group Forum integration” box (or similar).July 21, 2012 at 3:17 pm #137738In reply to: Group page does not show
danbpfr
ParticipantI received a 500 error page while attempting to access the forum page… This means there is also a problem outside your group page and/or a server misconfiguration.
What type of server do you use ? Shared or VPN or… ?
What are your permalinks settings ?
What kind of htaccess do you use ?To handle what Paul said, try to reload all BP files via FTP and see if things changed. If not, you have to debug trought your plugins and check above mentionned points.

ParticipantDoes it work if you switch to the bp-default theme? ( If it does, you would be better asking the question on the Dynamix forums).
See also, my question above about which URL you are using for registration… what do you have for your registration page (check in wp-admin); what are you entering in your browser to try and reach the registration page?

ParticipantSOLVED!!!!
All I needed to do was add the following into the wp-config.php file:
‘define (BP_ENABLE_USERNAME_COMPATIBILITY_MODE, true );’
Thank you to this thread for help – https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/profile-urls-dont-work-properly/
I really hope this helps some other people. All seems to be working for me now.

@mercime
ParticipantWe “template-packed” Atahualpa i.e., install BP template Pack plugin and go through Appearance > BP Compatibility. Instructions for Step 3 are found in following link https://buddypress.org/community/groups/installing-buddypress/forum/topic/footer-is-in-left-column-on-buddypress-pages/ — though you should read through the end of the topic as you might want to reconsider using Atahualpa
