MemberNever mind, I figured out how to do this correctly. For anyone else that finds this thread and is interested here ya go (everything laid out):
Full Instructions:
http://wpmututorials.com/news/new-features/multiple-buddypress-social-networks/
Plugins:
Install Networks+ or WP Multi Network
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-multi-network/
Then install BP Multi Network – Upload bp-multi-network.php to /wp-content/mu-plugins
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-multi-network/
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-multi-network/
Threads:

———————-
Steps:• Create your second WP network with Networks+ / WP Multi Network
• Activate BP on the sub network and go through the installation wizard
• For forums you need to tweak your bb-config.php a bit (this only applies to those using the BP Group Forums option)*Also, the answer to my original question is no you don’t need:
define ( ‘BP_ENABLE_MULTIBLOG’, true );
…unless you want to show the SAME BP profiles on EVERY SINGLE BLOG.

ModeratorCDN = Content Delivery Network. A place where you upload static files like CSS JavaScript images and anything elses a page would request. This will allow fewer http requests to your server and CDNs make copies of files across globe so clients accessing file will get it fast as it’s closer.
Amazon has S3 CDN or you could simply use DropBox. Other options are header caching for longer periods forcing browser to download copies and keeping them locally.
Most of the WordPress cache plugins work with BuddyPress but youhave to pay attention to the dynamic nature of activity streams / forum posts. You can cache these areas but it should only be for like 30 seconds. But that’s only necessary for sites with thousands if users.

ParticipantWell everyone I appreciate you taking a look at this, I found the solution to my styling issue at the Paralleus support forum for my theme, Salutation: http://para.llel.us/support/groups/salutation-wordpress/. Just log in and search ‘achievements’ and you’ll find a long thread that will take you through it. A couple other issues popped up but hopefully nothing that causes the headaches that this one did.
Thanks

Participant@inhouse unfortunately I don’t have a solution yet , I am not a programmer , my abitilty is only to read different forums be able to get info from them and to play with codes they provide me
, PHP is very strange language for me yet, categorize members and groups is one of my priority requests , I hoped that with latest 1.5 version will be possible to do more and that somebody will come out with some interesteing plugin or even better code, but it seems that not too many people needs to categorize members & groups directoriesDecember 10, 2011 at 3:21 am #125967In reply to: Add BuddyPress with GROUP forums using bbPress.

MemberMenelik, thanks so much for writing out your work and your thought process so clearly. I needed to add custom metadata to a topic, and I was able to get it working in under an hour following your example. I really appreciate it!

ParticipantAlso, this is how the URL is supposed to be generating:
I get that from the little # sign next to each forum topic post (the permalink)
But on the activity wall it’s not generating right and I can’t figure out why?

ParticipantI hope that somebody will respond you, I have the same question. You can find here on this forum one solution in the past where somebody used profile field search: http://www.yoursite.com/members/?s=Restaurants , so you only need to create some extended profile field : “member category groups” with values as RESTAURANTS ; BARS ; COFFEE BARS ; etc. and you will create some static button in the templates with URL: http://www.yoursite.com/members/?s=”MEMBERCATEGORYGROUPS” , but this is very bad solution, I would like to find more elegant, according extended profile field automaticaly build in member directory tabs

ParticipantIt was working after the upgrade. It looks like something in my theme is conflicting with wp fb autoconnect, so that’s switched off for now. The odd thing is that it seemed to change on weds evening when I was away from my computer, so I don’t think it was me. Maybe something with Facebook, possibly an entry in the database or maybe gremlins – I’ll need to do some testing over the weekend

ParticipantAha! I kept trying to figure out what I was doing wrong… I’d click “uninstall groups forums” and it wouldn’t actually do anything…. deleting bb-config did the trick and now I can have sitewide forums instead! thank you!

MemberNevermind, I just uninstalled bbPress 2.0, installed group forums and all is good. It now looks the way it is supposed to. Since the Mingle doesn’t yet support bbPress fully with site wide forums, i’ll just stick to this.
Thanks anyone who posted or tried to help me.
December 8, 2011 at 9:19 pm #125893coreymj78
MemberOk I found out that Mingle theme is not compatible with site wide forums. they use internal (database driven) group forums. So could someone please please, pretty please tell me how to switch now?
Also, one other question is, since BuddyPress is supposed to be a network wide feature, how come it didn’t generate buddypress pages for all my other sub-blog / sub-sites? How do I get buddypress to work on those? I red how to “move” buddypress to a secondary blog, but I don’t want to “move” it, i simply want to use it on all my blog/ sites in my multisite network.
Thanks!
December 8, 2011 at 8:56 pm #125891coreymj78
MemberSo what your saying is that only the group forums works correctly with Mingle in the way Mingle intended? So in that case, how do uninstall site wide forums and switch to group forums? Also, it says the bbPress plugin is installed, but why do I not see the bbpress folder in my plugins folder in FTP? I’ve reconnected several times and it’s just NOT there… what the heck?
December 8, 2011 at 8:18 pm #125888@mercime
ParticipantThey look different because you’re looking at 2 different instances of bbPress. You’ve installed the Sitewide Forums (aka bbPress 2.0+, the plugin) while that Mingle theme shows the Group Forums (aka internal bbPress). See https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/
December 8, 2011 at 8:07 pm #125887coreymj78
MemberAlso, the reason I say it’s not connecting to my theme’s buddypress css styles is because if you look at my current forum page (only available by use of the bbPress shortcode) here:
And then look at what it’s supposed to look like with my BuddyPress theme (Mingle):
http://para.llel.us/themes/mingle-wp/forums/
There you go. Something is definitely up.

KeymasterIf it was working before (was it? Did you check since upgrading 1.5?) and it’s broken now, something must have changed. It’s not inconceivable that something tiny like a widget could break it.
