In reply to: Member pages won’t display members. Please help!
kory27
ParticipantHi,
It was actually my permalinks settings.
I changed that and it works, kind of. I’m quickly learning that nothing with Buddypress is as it seems and the support forum you need to budget days to get an answer to things that seem like obvious functionality. i.e. how to limit roles displayed on Member Directory pages and how to set the default role upon setup.
If anyone has the same issue or wants to help, you can find related posts here:
I’m quickly losing faith in the Buddypress community. It completely seems overwhelmed and not interested in what users want, but moreover, what they want to do. I’ve seen this sentiment echoed by others as well. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the project, but at the point I’ve never gotten a reply to an issue in less than 3 days. Just seems the opposite of community when no one gets back to you on direct questions with specific functionality.
I will post in the other areas when I get solutions.
Thanks.

ParticipantA possible way to achieve what you want.
Networks+ and bp-multi-network
Each network can have absolutely completely separate Activity Streams, Groups, Forums, and sites/blogs as well as separate plugin and theme structures.
I only say MAY because the usermeta is shared and once a user visits another network that user is added to the Members of that network.
However AFAIK users have separate bp-profile data on each network
I fully understand that this may not be exactly what you are looking for but it certainly is a very good start.

ModeratorYou should ask the creators of the Activity Plus plugin.
You should be aware that forums and activity are different components.
And that forums has its own support site: https://bbpress.org/forums/
There may be a plugin re images in forums.March 24, 2016 at 9:16 pm #251780angrywarrior
ParticipantIsn’t there anyone here on the buddy press forums that knows about this issue?

@mcuk
ParticipantHi @neijisly, I tried your updated code but had no success with it. Thank you for trying though!
Hi @shanebp, your code works great. Thank you! I don’t have any other plugins apart from BuddyBoss Global Search and BuddyBoss Edit Activity. So unless your code affects the functioning of another part of BuddyPress, then there shouldn’t be any conflicts.
While looking at messaging I have just noticed that Private Messages don’t send when you select a recipient via the autocomplete dropdown (get a failed message saying username is incorrect). However if you manually type out the same username, the message sends fine. I haven’t yet searched the forum on this matter though so there may already be a solution out there. I’ll have a look.

ParticipantYes, the issue has been there since day one – and I searched for plugins to add this functionality but couldn’t find one that worked. Then I saw the new BP update with the added BP Email functionality and I realised that a/. this functionality indeed hadn’t been there before and b/. it had now been officially added as a part of BP’s core code.

Participant@OakCreative : actually, I use BuddyPress Forum Editor plugin, I think it’s why it doesn’t work. Would you accept to take a look on this, to find what I have to put in iframe in mention.js instead of “.wp-editor-wrap iframe” ?
Many thanks…March 23, 2016 at 4:33 pm #251703In reply to: Missing BP Docs Capabilities ?

ParticipantHi, I have tinymce enabled in activity, and also in BP forum topics. Mentions work well in text mode, but not in visual mode. I did replace in mentions.js line 251 ‘#content_ifr’ by ‘.wp-editor-wrap iframe’ but it’s not working.
Did I missed something please ?
Thanks.

Edit – I see that you’ve already posted on the bbPress forums:

KeymasterI know bbPress has their own version of at-mentions. You should experiment by disabling the Activity Streams component from BuddyPress and testing an at-mention in a bbPress forum post to see what happens.
March 21, 2016 at 12:25 am #251585In reply to: Is it possible to use Peepso with Buddypress?
rosyteddy
Participant@henrywright Thanks. It seems there is no mutual incompatibility between the core plugins.
I would have been more interested in the Photo plugin of Peepso as there is absolutely no good photo / media plugin or as-core-feature in Buddypress even after so many years. Peepso have got the photo feature excellent and fast, and is not dated like Rtmedia or Mediapress. [ Though album is yet to be released I guess]However, the Photo is purchasable add-on [ like Buddypress Rtmedia] and hence to run a test install one has still to pay. Hence the question in the forum to check if anyone has been using the two together. If it works, its okay for me to pay and purchase.

ParticipantWhen I go to Buddypress > Pages – and click on “View” next to the register page that is set as the Register page, it still redirects me to the login page. Every instance of this I find in the forums seems to be solved by adding custom field to the page name: _tml_action value: register (which doesn’t work for me) or setting the Buddypress Page to the register page (which I have done). I have tried all these things and am ready to give up, I even paid some guy at Fiver to help and none of it has worked. I’m so exasperated with this issue, I’m going to just do a clean reinstall as a last resort and if that doesn’t work go back to Ning again for a couple more years ๐

danbp
ParticipantI’m afraid you can’t built another member’s directory. “Members” is a component and it use a dynamic page to output anything related to members.
The only thing who change, is eventually the content template part (member directory vs. profile for example: both activity are on the same pseudo “page”.
The only way i see for your case, is to add a custom filter and to define eventually another default output for member directory, based on the current filter. But it’s the user who has to choose what he want to see there.
Default filter are recently active, recently subscribed and alphabetical order. To add more option, included “artists”, try to add “member type” or create you r own plugin to filter.
Here the related codex page for member-type
And codex page for how to add a filter on members directory.
For the @ use, the correct way to use it is when you want to mention (@mention) somebody. And so far i can see this here, it doesn’t actually work on bp.org ! ๐
So just keep in mind that you publish on a public forum. It is not intended to call mods individually. We’re not consultants here (we don’t charge you), but simple volonteers trying to guide and help other users.

ModeratorYou might be able to use this filter
apply_filters( 'bp_email_set_subject', $subject, $this );
And run stripslashes on the $subject.Something like:
function richdal_email_subject( $subject, $obj ) { $subject = stripslashes( $subject ); return $subject; } add_filter( 'bp_email_set_subject', 'richdal_email_subject', 15, 2 );But you shouldn’t have to, afaik.
The issue is probably just due to an over-sight.You can open a ticket here, using the same user / pw as this forum.
Include a link to this topic.
And if you try the filter above, the results of that test.March 17, 2016 at 10:05 am #251370In reply to: Image file corrupts in buddydrive

ParticipantSo, I finally got an answer on a different forum. I’m still not sure why no one here is responding, but I’ll continue the conversation in case someone else has this issue and needs help.
According to Jeff Farthing, author of Theme My Login plugin he said this can be corrected by editing the Register page, making sure the “Custom Fields” box is checked under Screen Options at the top of the page, then enter a new custom field with the name _tml_action and the value register.
I tried that and it gives me an error “Please provide a custom field value.” as if I didn’t. So I searched for a solution and everything seems to say that it has something to do with ajax and the mysql dabatase and that it was patched in MySql version 3.1.23
I checked my database and repaired it through cpanel and it still isn’t working. Still hopeful maybe someone can help… ๐
March 15, 2016 at 11:00 pm #251307In reply to: How to delete the Name field from Registration?
Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterRight now, you can’t. It’s a mandatory and required field, and very much hardcoded throughout BuddyPress.
You *might* be able to not show the form if you replace the sign-up process with a Gravity Form (I think that’s it — one of the form plugins). I know @dimensionmedia has done this; I’m not sure he regularly reads these forums, but if he does, hopefully he’ll clarify if I’ve remembered correctly.
I suspect even if that is an option, you’ll still need to programatically set the name field to something.
