Hi
I would like to hide the two columns in the members directory: role and activity as this is not interesting on our intranet.
Here’s the link to a screenshot: https://tinyurl.com/22pahgnt so the column ‘Rol’ (=role)(Beheerder = Administrator) and ‘Activiteit’ (=Activity) should be hidden.
How can I hide this? Can’t find it in the theme options of Woffice.

I expect this is likely a configuration issue with either our BuddyPress installation, a conflict from another plugin (though it works on staging version), or perhaps a lingering cacheing issue. But looking to find assistance resolving it and willing to consider hired help on this.

Is there a way to hide Admins from the general member’s directory – maybe with a plugin or a shot script? Also, would that not be a great feature to be included in the next update for BuddyPress?

Hi, I want to show the loggedin user profile if he/she tries to access other user’s profile.
Here’s a list of what I want and what I’ve accomplished- OK – Redirect to own profile when entering /members/
- X – Redirect to own profile when entering another profile via link
- OK – WMDs can view member listings
- OK – ADMs can view member profile

I am currently setting up a members directory for our alumni association using buddypress (currently Version 3 RC1 from trac). I really love it and so far the feedback from our testers is really positive. I might consider contributing a showcase/case study if there is anything like that for buddypress. I have already contributed several translations and will add more during the weekend!
I have one issue remaining which is related to the search function. We allow our members to hide certain information from other members. For example one member can set their current location to “adminsonly”. Let’s assume this example. We have user Thomas in city Berlin and user Peter in city Munich. Thomas decides to hide his location from other members and sets the field visibility to adminsonly. Now Peter views Thomas’ profile and is not able to see his location. So far everything works as expected. Now Peter uses the search function and uses the keyword “Berlin”. The result set contains Thomas (without displaying any information about the city) although Peter should not be able to know the city.
I would tend to consider this as a breach of privacy for users. That’s why I currently have removed the search boxes from all pages. Technically, if someone knows the URL search strings he/she could still do the search. Is it possible to configure the search so that it only searches fields which are available to the user conducting the search?

Would anyone know how to hide and disable member pages based on their role type. (e.g. yoursite.com/members/username)
Goal: if a member is set to a WordPress Administrator role, we would like to make his/her page inaccessible from the public
Purpose: while we have been able to hide specific roles from displaying in the member directory, their member/page is still visible if you know the URL.
Similar to how we can make the WordPress Author page inaccessible, we’d like to do the same for BuddyPress’s equivalent Member page.

Wondering if there is a way to hide specific members based on a extended profile setting.
While I see options for hiding based on WordPress user role (i.e. Admin, Author, etc.) or based on WordPress user’s ID #, I’m hoping we can do this via an option available to admins to change whether a member is visible in the directory.
Also, we found that the options to hide users appear to work on the parent Buddypress but those settings don’t affect the child site in a multiblog/multisite setting.
Any suggestions is greatly appreciated thanks!

I’m new to buddypress and have no experience with php. I have how ever managed to follow instructions on previous posts on preventing users from seeing the admin profile and activity but it hasnt worked correctly and has come up with errors.
I managed to create the bp-custom.php in the wp-content/plugins directory but the admin profile still appears and just comes up with an error message saying fatal error. It still allows the option to add as a friend aswell unless that might be to do with viewing it from an account already adding the admin account with.
