The install of myCred went fine and the table was created. Turned off every setting in Jetpack expect for Stats and Shortlinks and tried installing Buddypress again and it still doesn’t create tables.

There isn’t a setting from Jetpack that prevents plugin activation or db access.

I really have no idea why buddypress tables can not be created on your DB.
A rough solution would be trying to install another plugin, who also create tables and to check if it is working. MyCred is such a plugin. Clean and safe and written for buddypress. that plugin install one table. Give this a try. Upload, activate and see if a table called yourprefix_mycred_log is in the db.

If it exist, your db is ok as it accet table creation, but not from bp installer.

What is blocking BP in this case ?

One of the future of jetpack is
The ability to allow applications to securely authenticate and access your site with your permission.

See if you have a setting that would prevent plugins activation or db access

If things continue to stay weird in terms of solving this, I am happy to PM log in details to you guys to see what’s going on under the hood.

    Hi Dan,

Thank you, my apologies for the error in the thumbnail link, I deactivated Jetpack, looks just fine now.

I will see if I can get this thing to fly now!

    All the best,

    Phil.

    @philclaffey,

when you provide an image of an issue, don’t use a thumbnail, but a screenshot! The one above is too small to see something.

When you highlight the prev next block, and check the source code(right click > source code of the selection) , you will see that it is related to jetpack.

Your Jetpack Like plugin is interfering with the Signup button.

I would recommend that you either write some CSS if you want to continue using the Jetpack Like plugin or disable the plugin.

    > I have lost all other functions. I cannot add new items, edit posts, check Jetpack stats, etc. Dashboard link is there but generates error when clicked.

When you say that you cannot do these things, do you mean that (a) you don’t see the links in the toolbar, or (b) you can’t access the pages that they link to?

    – tool bar shows me as logged in
    – I have lost all other functions. I cannot add new items, edit posts, check Jetpack stats, etc. Dashboard link is there but generates error when clicked.
    – no plugins of the sort you mention. I *am* running Stop Spammers, Akismet and a plugin for confirming new users (those that get past the first two)

We’ve talked about more deeply integrating activity stream likes into other parts of a BuddyPress powered site, but haven’t prioritized it yet. This is the first report of any incompatibilities between 2.0 and Jetpack.

bbPress uses post types for topics and jetpack share works with post types. BP activity are not post types. A simple add action won’t work. When BP utilizes rewrite api jetpack will probably work.

    @Henrywright

I’m using Enfold as the theme, I’m using a variety of plugins such as datafeedr, cubepoints, social media stuff (facebook button, acurax social media, events plugin, countdown plugin, adsense, askimet, buddypress mymood, social login, jetpack, and a couple more. The versions include: Buddypress 1.9.2 and WordPress 3.8.1 running Enfold theme.

    What do you think?

ok thank you. Ill keep playing with it and deactivating plugins ect. Jetpack has given issues with my theme before so ill see if that fixes it, or ill just wait till my theme dev rolls out the Buddypress support and see if the problems still exist.

When I go to the Members pages ect there is nothing on the page are there supposed to be short codes there to display the correct information when someone goes to that page?

    Thank you again

Using the main standard bp-default template. (Not a child theme)

    @jadskymedia
If you’re only making style changes I suggest using Jetpack or another plugin which can serve CSS changes for the BP Default theme. Otherwise, If you’re going to make the style changes in BP Default’s stylesheet, it’s going to be overwritten when you upgrade BuddyPress.

You can find the general link styles in Lines 507 through 516 of the BP Default’s stylesheet, default.css https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.8.1/bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/css/default.css#L507

Jetpack->WordPress.com Stats->Configure->Put a chart showing 48 hours of views in the admin bar.

Then go to Settings->General and see what New User Default Role is set as.
Anyone other than subscriber will see the stats. You will have to go back and change the subscriber settings for anyone that registers.

I’m pretty certain there is no way to avoid them having a username, although in principle you could auto-generate a string of random characters that they never see.

I’m not familiar with the wordpress.com sign-up, but you could always pretty-please the Jetpack people to see if they will port it across to wordpress.org.

Or look at the various social networking plug-ins. Social Login allows “your visitors to comment, log-in and register with their social network accounts” and works with WordPress and BuddyPress.

If you want something more specific, then you may have to contract a developer to do it for you (then release it as a public plug-in!).

Thanks, @danpb. It looks like that worked, although the feed is not detecting an image. We are using RSS Multi-Importer to pull in feeds for this page: http://www.tafaforum.com/tafamemberblogs

I added the feed as you suggested and it pulled our last post (Selling on Etsy), but no image. When I registered the blog using http://www.tafaforum.com/blog/, it pulled all of the activity stream into this page.

I checked the jetpack version that is connected to my WordPress.com reader and it’s pulling everything over there. Does that mean that when people sign up for the blog, they are getting the Activity Stream posts, too?

I was able to register your forum version on Networked Blogs and it looks like it is just pulling the post (with an image): https://www.facebook.com/TAFAList So, that’s great.

    Thank you!

you might not need any plugin at all (besides possibly jetpack or some other form submission thing). i think how i would do that is to close registration put up a request form then manually add members that you approve through admin.

Thank you for making it a little more clear.
Is there a place to read about how buddypress is supposed to function, or its intended use for each module, kinda like JetPack information?
Are there any intentions to make the groups (notify group members of site activity) interactive in the near future?
If not any time soon what is your best (weekly digest plugin or a post notification plugin for wordpress) recommendation?

I am using wordpress version 3.5.1

It is a directory install, but it is in a subdirectory.

I did not upgrade wordpress. This was a new install.

I am running buddypress version 1.7.2

I have the following plugins installed and active: bbpress, all in one event calendar, tinymce advanced, buddypress media, jetpack, subtle background patterns, wordpress importer.

I am using a customized theme called “Salutation” which is designed to work with buddypress.

I have not modified the core files and do not have any custom functions.

I am running bbpress version 2.3.2

    My host is godaddy.

I am on a linux server.

Just so I understand…you’re looking for something that auto-posts (from status updates) to FB/Twitter and/or Instagram? You may be able to hack out some of the functionality from JetPack or some of the other Social Posting plugins.
