Thanks for the response I’ll give it a go.

I really don’t want users knowing it’s WP at all, but rather have it integrated within the members profile and make it one seamless experience.

Well…I am not a pro at all but I managed to uninstall most of the existing themes, and sort of replaced the default theme by the buddypress theme. New users by default end up with the buddypress style, but may have another option as I left another theme as I was afraid to delete everything that was there before. So my recommendation: make sure you maintain a backup of all your stuff. The identify the themes that you don’t like and disable them. Then I think the one you need to focus on is called “default.” It’s a folder called /default in /wp-content/themes/ Then the issue to figure out where the buddypress theme is and put its content in the ‘default’ folder. I am almost sure it will do the trick… but please please… backup your file. Good luck.

    Hey hatiro,

Here’s the code again on PasteBin:

    http://buddypress.pastebin.com/f36cf5cab

I’ve set it so it won’t expire.

Remember to add the bp_loaded() function to your /wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php

Also remember to change the blog directory loop in your BP member theme – /wp-content/bp-themes/YOURBPTHEME/directories/blogs/blogs-loop.php

@John James, (it´s strange to always have to write “@somebody”, why is the forum and the wire not THREADED ? Also, why does the person I am replying to not get an e-mail-notification about my reply?)

    anyhow, now to my question:

how to easily apply my own custom-theme onto the user-blogs ? I would like to have ALL my user-blogs to have the same design as my main-page.

    Many thanks,

    Erich

I’m sorry, I should of better clarified what I’m trying to achieve. I understand how to setup the new theme architecture, and to create various child themes.

But what I’m after, is… Let’s say, I want to use the K2 theme, or Thesis theme with the new architecture. And integrate buddy press into that theme, instead of creating custom child themes, which I know, is probably the easiest and preferred method of doing so.

    Hi

in the next version of BP – 1.1 – themes work much more like WordPress. If you have your own local development install of BuddyPress, upgrade to the ‘trunk’ version.

Yes…it was developed since the group api came into existence after bp 1.0.3. Currently it is still undergoing changes as trunk is changing rapidly. We are also adjusting theme structure to match the current parent/child structure.

However it should already work, along some minor bugs, with the current trunk.

An official 1.1 release of the plugin will come out at bp 1.1’s release.

    you have to:

    remove bp-themes dir in /wp-content/

    you have to copy bp-home & bp-sn-framework in /themes/

    activate bp-home

And you will have the new theme.

If you want integrate your theme with bp,

add in the header of your css

    /*

    […]

    Template: bp-sn-framework

    */

deactivate and reactivate your own theme.

    Thanks for the reply

When browsing in my File Manager, I can locate lhe loader.php file. It’s location is:

    /public_html/wp-content/bp-themes/bpmember/css/loader.php

When I copied ‘bp-themes’ folder across from the ‘buddypress’ folder to the ‘wp-contnet’ folder, I simply copied the whole ‘bp-themes’ folder. I assume this will bring all the sub-folders with it??

    Hey Dworldon,

I used Firebug for Firefox to look at your /members/ page and your server could not find this file:

    http://bucksboardroom.com/wp-content/bp-themes/bpmember/css/loader.php

Make sure you copied everything over from the “bpmember” directory.

Also, as per install instructions, I moved:

    – “bp-themes” to /wp-content/bp-themes/

    and

    – “bphome” to /wp-content/themes/bphome/

    Sorry, details are:

    1. Which version of WPMU are you running?

    2.8.4

    2. Did you install WPMU as a directory or subdomain install?

    Directory

    3. If a directory install, is it in root or in a subdirectory?

    root

    4. Did you upgraded from a previous version of WPMU? If so, from which version?

    Yes, 2.8.1

    5. Was WPMU functioning properly before installing/upgrading BuddyPress?

    Yes

Thank you for the response! I’m a total newbie at buddypress/wordpress mu/bbpress. Would you be able to provide some additional details as to how I can accomplish the 2 suggestions you provided, so I can head in the right direction? I’m not quite sure where to start. I’m using the bphome/bpmember themes.

    #51553

To summarize, the new theme structure includes a skeletal framework right away to start, that allows other themes to inherit the styling of BP HTML, CSS, and AJAX if you choose. It answers the age old “How do I get my child themes to look like my root theme?” question right off the bat. It also answers most of the “How do I port my existing theme to look like BP?” question too, but some adjustments will need to be made to make it look perfect. It also means that as new BP core features are developed, the BP default framework is updated as well, allowing your child themes to tap into the new HTML, CSS, and AJAX without any modifications to themselves. Neat eh?

What this REALLY does (in my opinion) for theme authors, is it puts EVERYTHING that the WHOLE website will need to look and work correctly in 1 convenient theme folder; with the option of subdomains having their own template files override the root if you as a site admin so choose. You can inherit the header.php and footer.php, but change the single.php and category.php if you want to. Or say that one subdomain gets blue links, and the other gets orange; a few changes in the style.css and you’re set for that child theme.

It’s just awesome and the anticipation of how people will use this is killing me. :)

Bummer would really love to know how that archive is created.

Any ideas on how the relative feeds could be created though, I am using a custom Theme anyways, but I have no idea how to go about creating the feed though.

More instructions will come on the 1.1 release. Basically you can copy the default theme and make your changes. It’s still using the framework. Or, you can add a custom.css file to _inc/css/ in the default theme and add your custom styles if you like. You will need to uncomment the line in style.css.

    Thanks for releasing the theme.

I like the content gallery. Does that support pulling in featured feeds from separate sub blogs? I would love to know how to do that.

Don’t how this site’s archives page set up. Maybe something to do with pretty urls?

Relative RSS feed URLs – I don’t know and you will almost certainly have to edit/create a custom theme.
