ParticipantI would try uploading the image again as it isn’t showing up correctly anyways. Even though it is the same size, something went wrong somewhere along the way….
On surface, it looks like the image and not the theme coding since all you did was overwrite the original image

ParticipantI love that idea! Thanks @danielfelice! I tweeted it and hope others might start using it as well since there is no repository yet. You can also encourage people to submit their themes to http://themes.wordpress.net as well for great access

Participant@gpo1 That’s what doesn’t work. The bp member theme isn’t a normal theme. That seems to be the problem. A normal theme does a bunch of *something* that the bp member theme doesn’t. The mu widget stuff is confused. Doesn’t know what blog id it’s on. Doesn’t like registering a sidebar in it. Dunno what it is, but it’s something.

MemberThe first suggestion worked, now one other question (I swear) LOL. Is there a way to make the sidebar widgets & etc all the same? For instance if I create another blog, I can then put my own widgets on the blog.

ParticipantNicola – I appreciate the tip, I do but now I have to answer a million other questions (most of us a novice hacks unlike yourself) So….remove what action? Where are all these actions? Are there any special considerations? Is there a general format for the function to create this action removal? I see stuff for the Admin Bar all over the place…member theme, bp-blogs, bp-core and it’s a wild goose chase to figure it all out. I assumed someone knew how to do a generic Admin bar item removal. Many Thanks

ParticipantThose “steps” are for using the buddypress code, ie xml-rpc communication inside of groups. If you theme the general bbpress install to match your buddypress site then you won’t need to enable xmlrpc on the general site, just do the intergration.
I think someone will develop a modification of the groups, to be a general group pretty soon. If this is the case, then you would need to do those steps for both bbpress installs.
Hope that makes sense,
Brad

ParticipantWell, as the developer for http://gorgeousgamers.com/beta/ I figured I should answer this question.
I have 2 instances running of bbpress, 1 is .com/beta/forum/ and the other is in a different location. Currently it is not safe to combine them, as private groups would be visible to all members, which is still an issue but would be harder to find these hidden forums.
The menu bar, which lists the general forum is actually as simple as uncommenting the code in the header.php file in home theme.
I’m still not sure if I should theme bbpress to match the site, or modify a copy of the groups forum tools to allow general discussion. This wouldn’t be a quick development, but would be easier down the road as the theme develops.
Thanks,
Brad

Memberim a professional designer/developer with a little over a decade of experience, and i can tell you that you’re offering too little. i’m not negotiating as my plate is already very full, but quality work from a professional would require a minimum budget of around $500, and a more realistic budget of around $800 for such work. if you dont have this, then i’d suggest waiting for buddypress’ popularity to grow a bit more over the next couple months, i’m sure there will be all kinds of custom themes and plugins becoming available for small fees…

InactiveThanks, PerS -this was helpful for me as well.
For those who are still confused – take the code, put it in a file (ie new-menu-items.php) and upload it to your “mu-plugins” directory. Works like a champ.
Question for PerS or anyone else: what would the code look like if I wanted to insert a new menu item in another position than on the right?
Ie. Home About News etc.
And what would I need to remove a menu item from that menu bar, assuming I do not want to hack the theme files?
Thanks in advance

MemberLooks like I got it dialed in. I started from scratch and reinstalled WPMU and double checked the chmod permissions. Everything seems to be working, next is to tackle the bbpress forum install.

Memberi may have just figured that out….not sure if thats what youre saying……
here’s what i did:
1. deleted all themes in my theme folder except the one i wanted to use, then renamed it “default”
2. i then went to the member themes folder, deleted all the themes i wasn’t using except the one i wanted to use, and renamed it “default”
and presto!

belogical
Participantwhen a new user signs up they will get the “default” them, /wp-content/themes/default
replace that with whatever theme you want them to get, in this case, the buddypress theme
