ParticipantCan’t say. Based on what’s in the BP roadmap – major upgrades – I can only guess around December or so, but don’t bet on it

ParticipantHi, @rogercoathup I missed your comment previously. In our case I modify the activity loop and any other plugin or theme will have the same activity loop as the default one, just with the modification my plugin is installed to do, meaning that if the user wants the activity loop not modified my way will never install my plugin in the first place. It’s for auto loading activity items and removing the “load more button”. It would be crazy to think that the user would install this plugin ando other that uses that button xD and no filter instead… Also, with every “bp-default” theme upgrade/new BP version, I would update the plugin (will took me two minutes to do that

Participant@burntheedges you have two options
a. create only two files – header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php
– the downside is that the titles of the BP pages won’t be like the titles of the rest of your site i.e., not white text on black backgroundb. revise 16 BP template files – your pages titles will be styled like the rest of the site’s page titles
– downside revising 16 more or less template files when there’s an upgrade.I would opt for (a) and wait till BP 1.7 where these additions/revisions will be fossils from the past

Participant@jaymeselman Open up your theme’s header.php file, copy all source, paste in pastebin.com, click submit, and post the generated URI here. Do the same for your theme’s index.php, page.php, sidebar.php and footer.php files.

ParticipantYou could try editing /profile/edit.php in your theme to use wp_editor() instead of textareas.
Have a Google for guidance on using wp_editor() – it’s the WordPress wrapper around tinymce.
You’ll probably also need to change the filters that sanitise your text inputs to ensure they allow the tags that you want to support in your editors.

Roger Coathup
ParticipantThe problem is in your ‘table-layout: fixed’ selector.
Remove that and it sizes correctly. If you didn’t add that selector, and it’s part of the bbpress.css files for the twenty ten theme, then I’d suggest bbPress haven’t tested very thoroughly, and you should report it there as a bug

@mercime
ParticipantBased on the HTML structure of your theme, you need to change 16 template files within the 6 BP folders transferred to your paradise theme folder in server during the compatibility process.

Participant@newbie2011 we have a list of “template-packed” WordPress themes @ https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/#template-packed-wordpress-themes
If you need assistance for your current theme, open up your theme’s header.php, copy all code, paste in pastebin.com, click submit and post the generated URI here. Do the same for your theme’s index.php, page.php, sidebar.php and footer.php

danbpfr
ParticipantHi,
you changed the wrong file. Never modify a core file when what you need is on the public side ! This means a template of the theme you’re using.
i said “you can search a term in the pot file”, not you must modify the pot file. This file is necessary for translation purpose and has no activity on your site. With a pot file you can generate a po file, and by saving it, you create the compiled mo file. PHP use this mo file at least.How it works ?
– searching a word: xxx.pot file
– translating/modifying a word: xxx.po file (no T in the extension)
– saving the po file within a po editor sofware like poEdit
– saving the po file will generate a compiled format called .mo file witch must be uploaded on your server via FTPIn your case, the word “groups” you want to modify is used in these files. You will find this piece of code in your po file.

Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterYou ought to be able to upgrade from recent 1.2.x versions up to 1.6.x without problem. Probably counts as a bug if it’s not possible. As some others have said, it’s normally theme or plugin compatibility that you have to watch out for. If you’ve got a staging or test environment, try on there and see what happens

MemberI found pastebin, so here are links to the coding for my page.php, sidebar.php, header.php, and footer.php. I would really appreciate any help analyzing this code, and maybe a tip or two on how to integrate buddypress into the theme. Thanks again, so much!

ParticipantThank modemlooper – I totally agree about unsupported plugins and warned the client, but he is crazy about having this group home page and all the extra info sections. Everything was working well until the last buddypress update. The problem seems to be that both the group frontpage and Activity are directing to mysite.com/group.
I am thinking that creating a custom activity page may more what we want. building on the trick above – if I create a custom page template, such as group-activity.php – not sure where to put this. We are using a child theme.
Then – remove the default Activity sub-nav item and add a new custom sub-nav link
Any reason that won’t work?September 5, 2012 at 10:02 pm #141078In reply to: Default Theme

@mercime
Participant@newbie2011 just saying that it would be easier creating two files instead of changing 16 BP template files since you’re fortunate that your theme’s HTML structure allows it. See an example of how it was done for the Evolution Theme. The additions to the header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php would be different in your case, but you get what I mean. Should you decide to go this route, backup your revisions.
