Participant@ginreviews WP/BP versions? Are you using bp-default child theme, WP/BP Template pack or custom BP theme? Is this a new install or is it an existing install with registration going bonkers recently?
July 28, 2011 at 8:16 pm #117109@mercime
ParticipantYou most probably did not post that you were using WP theme with BP Template Pack. Otherwise the moderator would instruct you to change information in the forums/index.php file transferred to your active WP theme during the BP template pack compatibility process.

ParticipantColors would be done via the style.css in the theme.

MemberHi, this error occurs when a newer version of jquery and jquery.easing is used with an older version of the call to animate.easing. Do a search in your javascript of your theme for the text “easeout” or “easein” or “easeinout”.
These should be changed to “easeOutQuad” and “easeInQuad” or “easeInOutQuad”.The easing plugin has changed, and that’s why your theme is broken.
Newest version of easing does not use those old keywords anymore, so they should be changed.July 28, 2011 at 6:28 pm #117095rosewater1
MemberFYI, I figured out where to go to access this file without creating a child theme.

ParticipantDownload the BP template files transferred to your active WP theme folder in server down to your computer hard drive.
We start with /activtiy/index.php – open with text editor. At the top of the file, replace

MemberHi
I’ve just installed this plugin and the quote functionality so far. My theme adds the ‘quote’ button, but the quote doesn’t appear in the reply box. Can someone help me fix please?
Thanks

MemberI have a related problem. I added remove_filter( ‘bp_get_the_profile_field_value’, ‘xprofile_filter_link_profile_data’, 50 ); to my functions.php file in my custom theme. It removed the comma-delimited links like I wanted, but unfortunately it also removed my newlines (presumable because it also filters newlines and inserts
, or something like that). Even after I comment out the remove_filter line and re-enter the text and add the returns back in, I still don’t see the newlines or the links that probably should be there since I no longer have the filter being removed. Thoughts?July 28, 2011 at 12:25 pm #117071In reply to: Not Sending Private Message

MemberUpon further investigation I decided to replace the compose.php loaded from BuddyPress Template Pack 1.1.3 with the compose.php template from the default BuddyPress theme.
This fixed the problem.
Thanks to everyone who looked into this problem.

ParticipantYou seem to be using older version of BuddyPress/ Bp-theme.
Upgrade your BuddyPress(and also the theme if you are using a different theme than bp-default). This is happening because the jquery included in wp3.2 is jquery v 1.6.1(which changed the way some of the properties are accessed).

KeymasterWhen you activate a BuddyPress-compatible theme, like BuddyPress Default, you will see a Members tab at the top of the screen. That is the public Members Directory, where users can browse or search.
`So no plugins to be able to invite people other than the not working one which says when trying to install that it has not been tested yet for my version of WP?`
There is a plugin called Invite Anyone that provides several for group and site invitations: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/invite-anyone/ It is compatible with the latest WP and BP. The only reason it doesn’t list its compatibility in the WP repo is because WP requires me to release a new version of the plugin in order to update its compatibility, and I have no good reason to do this. Without Invite Anyone, group members can only invite Friends to the group.

MemberThanks, not sure what I was googleing for before but i have now found a buddypress theme switcher plugin
http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/advanced-theme-switcher
however i can’t get it to work and their forums are only for paying members
Still i’m a bit closer then I was before!July 27, 2011 at 1:47 pm #117011Andrea Rennick
ParticipantSwitch your theme to the default one included with buddypress and then try those tasks again.

Participantnearest I can think of is a theme switcher widget (yes, they exist all over the plugin repo) and t won’t be labelled buddypress-specific.
this will get you close. you’ll have to test because you might get wonky results. And tell the client he’s not gonna get all he wants. ;)P

ParticipantI couldn’t get this theme to work with the latest trunk version of BP from a few days ago. I stuck the theme in the both /wp-content/themes/ and in /plugins/buddypress/themes/, and everything, but WP would never pick it up.

@mercime
Participant1. Create a child theme of bp-default https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/
2, Copy over bp-default/forums/index.php to yourchildtheme/forums/index.php
3. Open up forums/index.php in your child theme and delete lines 35-36

MemberI’m sorry, but we tested on several themes. It has nothing to do with the theme; forget I ever mentioned the theme at all.
I’m starting to understand why the search is not working. Apparently only the administrator has access to the members directory (?) Anyone should have access to that, otherwise a profile search doesn’t work I’m afraid.
So I suspect that’s an authority problem. So no plugins to be able to invite people other than the not working one which says when trying to install that it has not been tested yet for my version of WP?
People can’t invite eachother, because they can’t search eachother and therefore are clueless who else is on the network, furthermore group search isn’t working either, so they’re clueless as well which groups they might be interested in because there’s no list of them.
You really never had anyone who found these problems a limitation?
Please remember that I’m not native English, so if my post sounds offensive that’s not how I mean it. I’m trying to get some help.

ParticipantYes, I am using the latest version of WordPress, the latest version of Buddypress, and latest version of Suffusion theme. There was no problem a while ago, but now the avatar does not upload on the first page even though it shows successful avatar upload

I truly appreciate your help.
July 26, 2011 at 8:02 pm #116965In reply to: Member search alphabetical order
lpryor
ParticipantYes, the ordering should be on name. But it should search on the other fields, surely? The way it does when you order by recently active, say?
Currently (straight out of the box default theme) it applies the search terms to all the extended profile fields if you order by anything other than alphabetical. If you order by alphabetical, it applies the search terms to the name only.
So if you keep the same search terms, but choose a different ordering, you get different members showing. This is counter intuitive, to say the least.

ModeratorI don’t get any cropping issues so my first thoughts would be you say you have a version of the default theme from an older BuddyPress install. Can you try the newer version that came with 1.2.9 please? Also do you have any issues with other media uploading say through the media uploader?

KeymasterWhat @mercime means is that several of your questions are dependent on the theme you’ve purchased, ‘executive’. WPMU.org is not the official WordPress site, but is a private company that sells themes and plugins. It’s not possible for people on this free forum to provide support for a theme that is sold privately; you should go to wpmu.org for that.
General BuddyPress questions are welcome here, though. For instance,
`Furthermore I don’t seem to have a members directory in my dashboard.`
BuddyPress does not add a members directory to your Dashboard. You can find a members list at Dashboard > Users (or Dashboard >Network Admin > Users on Multisite)July 26, 2011 at 5:41 pm #116956@mercime
Participant@katje we’d like to help you but we don’t have free access to the theme. You should be able to get free support at WPMU.org or where you bought the theme.
