ParticipantAssuming you’re already loading jQuery in your header with something like this ` ` just add the following before the “ tag…
`
jQuery(document).ready(function(){jQuery(‘#object-nav a, #subnav a’).live(‘click’, function(e){
e.preventDefault();
var link = jQuery(this).attr(‘href’);
jQuery(‘#nav-ajax’).html(‘Loading
‘);
jQuery(‘#nav-ajax’).load(link+’ #nav-ajax’);});
});
`
To write this script, I chose what links I wanted to make the call – for profile navigation that’s those in #object-nav and #subnav.
Then you have to wrap the elements you want to get loaded in a div – in this case I used `` and wrapped it around the entire item-body div in my theme’s members/single/home.php…. Like so
`<?php
/* If nothing sticks, just load a member front template if one exists. */
locate_template( array( ‘members/single/front.php’ ), true );
?>
`You also have to do the same thing for the members/single/plugins.php with the same div. Just style the p class=”ajaxing” however you want in your default stylesheet. The process works the same for groups as well. I had problems getting a:active css attributes to show, but besides that it’s worked just fine.
Oh, and thanks for the compliments!

ParticipantDid you check registration if you deactivate Typepad spam blocker as well as all other plugins except BuddyPress and change to bp-default theme?

ParticipantCould be that it’s the Event Manager plugin which is not working with BuddyPress. Does the event manager plugin you’re using work on the bp-default theme?

ParticipantYou have to more specific like WP/BP versions? Which theme are you using? If you deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress and change to bp-default theme, does the same behavior show up or is it fixed?

Participant@hawkd215 Since BP Social is a premium theme, you should be able to get free support from theme author who knows all the nuances of the theme — which is not available to those of us who didn’t purchase the theme.

Participantwhen I installed the buddypress it works fine. But the register and upload avatar seems not to work. i think they are related. Please kindly visit my site http://www.ltdexperience.com/register. I haven’t yet updated theme’s structure to fit the buddypress. Please try to register, you’ll just get a page as if it was just got refresh only not really submitting the form, I’m bump.

ParticipantBy the looks of it the theme isn’t compatible with buddypress. A link would have helped but I suspect it might be http://themeforest.net/item/traject-wordpress-portfolio-and-business-theme/116671 ?
You may be able to convert it yourself using the buddypress template pack ….

ParticipantOk, I’ve tracked it. It’s a plugin, bp-registration-options. I must find something similar that doesn’t create this bug. I made a test install and retraced every step I made on the main site, and on activation of this plugin the bug appeared again.

ParticipantOn a cursory glance, yes you could work BP into your WP site, BP is simply a plugin for WP that extends WP to include social media aspects such as user profiles, site wide activity streams, user groups. You may want to install plugins such as BP Album+ to handle media , cubepoints for BP, or perhaps Achievements.
You’re best off setting up a test install and working BP into your theme using the template pack plugin to help integrate BP files into your child theme – a guide on this is found in the BP codex, then run through the various features of your existing site and see whether they function as is as WP aspects or whether you need to use more specific BP plugins that are BP aware, theres a good list of available plugins under the ‘Extend’ tab

MemberI am ‘getting stuck in’, you’ll notice in my posts I’ve at least tried to have a go myself !
theres so many files, and so many are similar in name but unless I ask someone who has experience with these things I could end up ruining my site.
If you take a look at this link: http://swapbbm.com/ you’ll see ‘exactly’ what it is I’m trying to achieve and that is to display a similar notice in the activity stream: ‘please login or register to view the bb pins’ .
so this would be done in the ‘activity’ files you previously mentioned right ?
** update **
I tried on about 4 attempts to create the wrapper on that page and 2 out of 4 attempts in various different places made this come up on my site:-
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_ELSE in /home2/pinhitco/public_html/londonbbmpinswapco/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/activity/activity-loop.php on line 37

KeymasterIt’s a problem with your site. Do you get any messages in your web server’s error log when you try these things?

MemberGreat Functions!!! i have been looking for it. only thing i am trying to do now is to use the function only when under friends activity. so in groups activity and Favorites “no filter” will be normal.
i was trying something like that :function blog_posts_by_default( $query_string ) {
global $bp;
if ( !$query_string )
$query_string = ”;if ( ($bp->current_component == BP_ACTIVITY_SLUG . ‘/’ . BP_FRIENDS_SLUG . ‘/’ || !$bp->current_component) ) {
if ( strpos( $query_string, ‘action’ ) == 0 )
$query_string .= ‘&action=activity_update,new_member&scope=groups,friends,profile’;
}return $query_string;
}
add_filter( ‘bp_dtheme_ajax_querystring’, ‘blog_posts_by_default’ );and i tried many other ways but all gave the same results.

Thanks for the response!

MemberThat’s changed today. Not sure why to be honest, trying trial and error….the destinations have been confused somewhere. Could be janrain…thanks for letting me know though.
I’ve tried the bp template pack process but it doesnt seem to work. I installed the plug-in however it did not bring up the appearance options…so I moved the files manually and it hasn’t worked.
Sorry its not an easy solution! Thank you for your help so far though. Im running a standard wp theme. How would I find out what the BuddyPress version is? Im pretty sure it is 1.0-RC1.
Sorry, Im all new at this!

ParticipantBuddyPress 1.0-RC1? Sure? Not 1.2.8? Is your theme the standard-wp-theme? If so, you need to install bp-template-pack or search with google, there is an adapted twentyten for buddypress out there.

MemberI Ben, Have u solved any of your tweak requests?
June 30, 2011 at 6:26 am #115452Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterYou know, I’m not sure. But I would be pretty confident to guess that you activate the bbp-twentyten in the same place as any regular WordPress theme. After all, it is a WordPress theme.
This question is also more suited for bbPress.org forums, as it’s not to do with BuddyPress. Thanks!
