@mercime
ParticipantYou could be right. http://ithemes.com/support/pre-sales-and-other-inquiries/buddypress-builder/?value=buddypress&type=1&include=1&search=1&ret=all
Having said that, just curious at what stage did the integration fail? I assume that with the Builder, after setting where you want your sidebar/s and content, you would be able to get the HTML going.

r-a-y
KeymasterFYI, you currently can’t override /_inc/ajax.php in your child theme as the template path is hardcoded to the parent:
https://trac.buddypress.org/browser/tags/1.2.8/bp-themes/bp-default/functions.php#L19Needs to be patched to use STYLESHEETPATH instead of TEMPLATEPATH.

Regarding your problem, make sure you haven’t changed any of the list tab IDs. The AJAX requests rely on the IDs of the tabs.

Participantmmmm.. weird! so your javascript is working, but the content does not get filtered? Does your Child Theme load the ajax.php file from BP-Default or from your own theme?

ParticipantThis is what you want to change:
`if ( !empty( $_POST ) && __( ‘Search anything…’, ‘buddypress’ )` in your theme’s ajax.php

@mercime
ParticipantI was going to test it when I saw this post in plugin dev’s forums http://www.primothemes.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=719 Probably one of the reasons plugin dev did not include buddypress tag/support in https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/quick-cache/ You might want to check how current version’s working out in latest WP/BP

ParticipantI just had a pile of hours in that theme and the page was very nice, not really a blog on the home page, but it appears it is not upgradable. I think it was the “BuddyPress Default Home Theme 1.0.3 by Andy Peatling” which used widgets. I guess I can use any wordpress theme so I will hunt around for a similar one.
I appreciate all your help

@mercime
Participant— everything REALLY looks bad —
As mentioned above, BP themes used in BP 1.1.2 are no longer compatible with current BP version. When you activated bp-default theme, it should look something like http://testbp.org/ and that looks good and clean.— Er. I would certainly have stepped it through into 1.2 first, then the latest version —
@DJPaul, very true. I would have recommended point by point upgrade of BP and WP if it was not “after about a year on mothballs” per @tmcandle ** blush **March 23, 2011 at 1:53 am #108479In reply to: Buddypress upgrade 1.1.2 to 1.2.8

ParticipantWell I think the only problem was the theme. The theme used in 1.1.2 was that parent child thing. When I put the bp-default from 1.2.8 in everything works (so far). However everything REALLY looks bad. so off to themeville. Still wonder about splog signups, do I need to do anything?

Participant@DJPaul @nexia Thanks for the replies guys.
The only thing in my footer is a tag cloud widget which is the generic one built into wordpress?
I have deactivated all plugins when the new password is set and that doesn’t help and this occurs in EVERY theme so it’s not my theme.
It’s really bizarre. I’m going to get Boris to take a look over FTP but if we can’t find anything would you guys be prepared to take a look?
One thing I have noticed is that with the MYSQL DB for this site, there are no users attached to it, so it is just one DB and one password for it. On my other sites the install seems to have created a user for the DB which is set the same in wp-config so that even when you change your main passwords the user password is unchanged and therefore you don’t have to edit wp-config.
Saying this I’ve tried setting up a user and changed the details in wp-config to match and the problem still persists. The entire site works except for the footer not showing.
Bloody odd.
You can see the site and footer showing at the mo at http://www.actonthis.co

ParticipantDid you try with the default BP theme? If that woks OK, then you’ll need to check the changes you made to footer.php

ParticipantDid you change your theme? If so, make sure the call to wp_footer is present in footer.php of the new theme.

ParticipantYou should be able to override styles in the main themes style.css file, you might need to increase the specificity of the selector set to ensure the properties take precedence over others that may be set.
#wraper #content #item-nav add in ancestral elements until your styles kick in and have a heavier weight than others that might be decalred for #item-nav

ParticipantThis is a heavily customised theme. Generally the support forum here helps with matters related to the running of BuddyPress and the BuddyPress default theme.
Although it almost certainly an issue with the themes styling to determine that absolutely one should drop back to the BP default theme to check if the issue still persists.
Fixing styling issues with third party themes is slightly beyond the remit of this forum but someone may take a look for you and offer some suggestions (presently I am without the two aforementioned afflicted browsers)
March 22, 2011 at 8:03 am #108405In reply to: Buddypress upgrade 1.1.2 to 1.2.8
@mercime
Participant== Buddypress was not there nor was the section to configure it. ==
The Super/Network Admin has a separate new panel in WP 3.1. Click on Network Admin link in upper right hand corner and you’ll find the BuddyPress button in admin menu.
== OK but the site was totaly broken ==
Deactivate all plugins and change theme to default WP theme. Know that many BP plugins and themes from way back 1.1.2 are not compatible with current WP/BP versions.
== Do I need to upgrade a number of times ==
Nope. Just upload BP 1.2.8 and WP 3.1 manually i.e. via FTP or cpanel, etc. Access wp-admin, then go through the upgrade process. Btw, curious why not start from scratch?

MemberI tried Yet Another Photoblog plugin but it doesn’t show anything on the page. The page just come up with the theme and no upload option of anything. How do I go about fixing it?

MemberDid anyone resolve this? I have BuddyPress 1.2.8 installed on WordPress 3.1 (not multisite). I am using the default theme. I have not installed any other plugins. Seems I’m in the same situation as munman. mod_rewrite is enabled.
March 21, 2011 at 3:51 pm #108362@mercime
ParticipantDeactivate all plugins except BuddyPress and change theme to bp-default theme. Activate other plugins one by one and then your custom theme which I believe needs to be updated.
