Assuming you answered an implicit affirmative to Paul’s question about editing the correct file, did you restart your Apache? server for the changes to take effect (apologies if teaching grandmother to suck eggs
)
What exactly do you mean by members stuff?
And are you editing theme files (like header.php) or just wanting to link from within, say, a WordPress page or blog post?
You might try to disable all of the plugins then enable them one at a time to see which one is conflicting with the admin area. Also, if you have access to the error log files then you can check to see if a message is being written to the logs.
I would really like to get this thing working, but have yet to do so successfully…
basically I got it all installed by disabling all my plug ins, but once I put the plug ins back on, and tried to access the admin page later, it gave me that error
Have you checked you’re editing the correct php.ini file? Setting it to at least 64mb sorts most problems.
ive been trying for the past few days now to install a clean copy of wordpress 3.0.1 and buddypress
however they never seem to work on my server. I keep getting a fatal error: allowed memory size of 33454……
anyways, I have a dedicated server, pentium 4, QUAD processor, with 4 gigs of DDR.. Ive edited my php.ini file to allow way more memory then what its asking…
I have yet to get your plug in to work… any suggestions on what are the best versions of wordpress for buddypress and the best version of buddypress…
If either of these plugins were to be used with a WordPress install without the Multi-blog / site system in effect (meaning it’s all run off the main blog, not sub-blogs), and you had say 10,000 authors blogging or more on the main blog, would that work fine? Or would they need to get into the multi-blog environment to have upwards of 10,000 authors?
Mr Boone.. I have a similar issue.. where activation is not sent…. but I once tried and updated the mailserver_ settings in wordpress.. so I recieved the activation code.. the problem is.. the code I cannot be used to activate the account.. I keep getting “Invalid Key” or “and error has occurred” messages, even though I copy/paste manually..
what do you think is the case? and is there an applicable fix that simply modifies the core files automatically? or howabout I send you the files that might help you.. and you can look into this issue..
This issue is standard and doesn’t resolve even after deleting and re-installing Buddypress over and over …
must be somewhere in buddypress or wordpress which indicates the compression settings

Oops, I had removed the page IDs from the plugin file, but the file I uploaded to pastebin was the one that has my page ID exclusions.
Nice touch with the pageLinkDropdown idea! I take your hint and I’ll see if, following your example, I can figure out how to add that option to wp_nav_menus.
I fully agree that the user should be able to control values and parameters. Next challenge then is to learn how to create (and code) an admin area to give users that control. Here’s the start of my study program: https://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_Options_Pages and https://codex.wordpress.org/Adding_Administration_Menus
Oh goody… more fun!
Bump with exactly the same problem.
It happened to be .htaccess did not update because of file permission. Did manual update, adding mod_rewrite rule and everythings work!
If not in your case, try checking if mod_rewrite module of apache is enabled?

You’d have to turn your WordPress 3.0 install into a network and create a secondary blog.
Then you could activate the BP-default theme on this new blog.
Follow these instructions:

Hi is it possible to have 2 separate themes active on wordpress. One dedicated for the blog and another for the BuddyPress. Basically I’m using a custom theme on my website with the Theme Compatibility Pack plugin, the theme doesn’t really fit into the buddypress. So I was wondering if It was possible to use a theme such as Test Drive Buddypress theme or any other theme for my Buddypress. How is this possible?
Thanks.
I’m trying to find information on how a buddypress user is created from the wordpress manual add user method.
For example, in wordpress, if I go to “Users” and then “Add New”, fill in all the details and submit the form, the _usermeta and _users database tables are populated as normal but how is the buddypress _xprofile_data table triggered to populate?
Thanks
Ive build a plug-in that inserts a image into the group header, dependent on a option at group creation.
The images reside in wordpress/wp-content/plugins/buddypress-plug-in-name/images/example-image.png
now how should my function call the image, currently its:
img src=”http://localhost/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/buddypress-plug-in-name/images/example-image.png
though if ‘wordpress’ changes or I upload it to a live site the url will change hence I need it to look for the image rather than just call the url.

It was actually me that fixed the template error. Granted I didn’t know why, see below:-

Hello All,
Is there a way to change the “main page” (index.php) to another page on BuddyPress?
For example:
http://www.my-websight.com/index.php is the default BP installation
but, I want it to be
http://www.my-websight.com/some-other-page-of-my-choice.html
currently im using the HTACCESS method. which is:
RewriteRule . index.php [L]
DirectoryIndex main-splash-page.html
(Ive added the DirectoryIndex) which changes my “default index”
It seems to work the way I want it to. However, I fear unintended consequences.
Question:
1) Is there a preferred way to do this?
2) Are there any checks/hooks on BuddyPress or WordPress that would be aggrevated by me adding/specifying a “DirectoryIndex”
3) Is this just a wordpress no/no?
FYI: Im on WP 3.0 – latest BP (upgraded from WPMU)

**any thoughts?
There is a how to guide if you search the WordPress codex
Is there a way to create similar location based comments? I installed the Geolocation plugin: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/geolocation/
But it doesn’t seem to work on comments, or activity feed. Any help?
Hi,
As the title suggests i Cant See Edit Links For Blog Post In Front End After Installing Buddy Press .
I am using WordPress 3.0.1, Buddy Press 1.2.5.2 , with default theme.
Every thing works fine in buddypress, but just cant see edit links on blog posts, I tried to look into the buddy press default theme files i could not locate any code that will put edit links on the blogposts, some thing like “edit_post_link( __( ‘Edit’, ‘twentyten’ ), ‘‘, ‘‘ );” which is present in default twentyten theme.
anyone can help me on this , i need to have the edit links on blog posts.
Regards
Dee
I use this plugin on my WordPress site, perhaps it will work with BP too? It does work with WP 3.01 despite it being almost two years old.
