Hi All,
I was browsing the WordPress Addon website and came accross this plugin. At the moment; everything I am searching for is currently supported by BuddyPress, which is great; because I thought I would originally have to combine a number of components.
One thing, however, that I can’t seem to find is this:
What I am looking for is the ability to view statistics on the custom profile fields I will add to my system. For example; BuddyPress would allow me to add custom fields, but what if I wanted statistics on these fields. If I had a custom field that allowed my users to choose their favourite colour from a dropdown list, would I be able to see (graphically or otherwise) how many chose blue, red, orange etc.?
Thanks,
Steve
Hey All,
Im using WordPress 3.0.1 with BuddyPress 1.2.5.2. I have used the WP-FB-AutoConnect to allow users to login using their facebook accounts and it works absolutely fine. However my issue is that I want users who login for the first time (those who login through the facebook connect) to go first to their profile page and fill out the additional details in their profile and update their facestreem and tweetsream settings. Any idea how to do this?
Your help would be MUCH MUCH appreciated.
Hi everyone,
Just activated Buddypress, but the default theme isn’t showing up in Theme Manager – can anyone help?
Using WordPress 2.9.2
Okay, so now it’s happened again – only this time it’s someone that I know that I trust implicitly so I’m really confused. Take a look here and you’ll see that her avatar has taken over all of the group avatars: http://hooping.org/wordpress/groups
Any idea what is going on?
This plugin kind of does it:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-group-forum-extras/other_notes/
as long as you follow the instructions under “Activity on Topic Posts”
Although it doesn’t actually show up as a forum “reply” like usual it looks like an activity update on the forum post here:
http://avatarthelastairbenderonline.com/groups/news-and-feedback/forum/topic/suggestion-thread/
You can see an example of what it looks like near the bottom of the thread.
I have recently started using buddypress with wordpress 3.0.1 . I have installed it and also been able to get the feature I want incorporated.
However I have noticed an issue with buddypress. That it’s not very intuitive to the end user. When a user registers, it takes them to upload avatar page, which is great, however, as soon as user uploads avatar. It does nothing interesting or intuitive.
In my opinion the after the avatar is uploaded it should give a good notification to the user to say that “You need to activate your account” or redirect them somewhere.
Also the user is hanging on the upload picture page.
I am wondering is there any plug in or hack that will let user know that their account needs to be verified is they try to log in without verification.?
Also is it possible to redirect the user to some page after registration.
Any help would be appreciated. I have Drupal CMS as my background, but need wordpress & buddypress for a friends site.
Sociable for WordPress 3.0 works on BP.unfortunately Like button is on pro version only. On the other hand Facebook share still works.
any word on when this will be fixed? I am building my first install of buddypress and not being able to access the codex is really frustrating. Thank god I did all of my wordpress customization before getting to buddypress or I would have given up on the entire system.
Well to late – I started over and did the following:
1. Created new database
2. Installed wordpress 3.0.1
3. Installed buddypress plugin 1.2.5.2
4. Reset permalinks to numeric
5. activated default buddypress theme.
outcome same… url same.. same problem when I co to the server directory the only thing I see is wordpress directories and the only place I find anything from buddypress is in wp-plugins.. I followed all on screen requests in wp admin panel.
I an going thrugh the codex link you gave me Thanks.
Wp 3.0.1
Bp 1.2.5.2
no other plugins
Don’t start deleting stuff at this stage, it unnecessarily drastic. Earlier you answered yes to setting permalinks so I’m assuming that you didn’t get a message informing you that it couldn’t be written and showing you the code that would need t be added manually.
I would have a read through this page in the WP codex:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks
and see if any of that helps before deleting stuff or looking at other areas.
Hi ,
Since i upgraded to wordpress 3 and latest version of buddypress and latest version of wp-fb-autoconnnect I cannot overide my avatar from within BP. It lets me upload a new one through BP but still shows the facebook one. I can only upload a new one if i de-activate the plugin. Help i have cross users.
When I look at the directories in the site there is only the wordpress directories and none of the directories that buddypress is looking for when you hover over buttons (www.whatever.com/activity/) activity/ does not exist. Its like buddypress plugin installed in plugin directory but did not install needed items. At least that is what it looked like…
Plugin is buddypress 1.2.5.2
Please Help
With WordPress MS, we can set BuddyPress on all blogs or on a particular blog. Is it possible to set BuddyPress to function on more than one specific blog, for instance only on blog 3 and blog 5. If possible, does anyone know how to make it?
I’ve installed wordpress 3.0.1 and then added buddypress plugin why did this not create the required pages?
sorry i’m new to all of this and if there is info on what i didn’t do please can someone help
Thanks
Some emails are being sent with links to buddypress but others – hotmail one, was logged into wordpress profile page…
hello everyone,
i am using wordpress 3.0.1 and buddypress 1.2.5.2. i have a problem here. when i upload avatars and images it says the images are uploaded, but it is not displaying any images, instead it is only displaying the title of the images, and for avatars it displays as “avatar image” in text. my website url is http://www.nepaliportal.com. can somebody help plss
Hi there i know many of you had this issue due to my searches and reading the topics but i couldnt manage to solve the problem thats why i needed to start this topic.
I updated my permalink structure to “day and name” then got this message :
“If your .htaccess file were writable, we could do this automatically, but it isn’t so these are the mod_rewrite rules you should have in your .htaccess file. Click in the field and press CTRL + a to select all.”
my htaccess file looks like this:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /firstsketches/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /firstsketches/index.php [L]
i uploaded it to the default directory of my wordpress installation.
after i do that it gives me this error:
“403 Forbidden
You don’t have permission to access /firstsketches/members/admin/ on this server.”
Now is my question where do i put the htaccess file? if i change the one who was on the server i get the same error. Tried to install a different wordpress, set the htaccess to chmod 777, installed bp manually but it just wont work. Would really be glad if someone could help me cuz bp is exactly what i need.
Thanks for your time

I know how THEY did it, but I would prefer to use a ready-made plugin since I am running WordPress….that would be very convenient. That’s why I asked if anyone knows of a plugin that does this.
I am unable to delete members via the BuddyPress admin bar (I receive the following message: “There was an error deleting bob from the system. Please try again.”). I have to go into the WordPress user admin to delete them. (WordPress 3.0.1 & BP 1.2.5.2). Any ideas? (I’ve tried reverting to the default them and deactivating all plug-ins except for BuddyPress)
get_post_meta( bp_get_activity_secondary_item_id(), ‘thumbnail’, true)
but have a read about this – if you have pull info from a user’s blog post. so to switch, you’ll need to pass in bp_get_activity_item_id() (which is the blog_id)

Welcome Pack
Disclaimer: it’s my plugin, but it does what you want.
Yes , I know about that plugin..
But I don’t have much of a budget ..
so would like to get a code edit option, which would be costless
Edit: Got a Solution
Under the “Super Admin” menu is an “Options” link, on the options page is a setting called “First Comment Author” – The author of the first comment on a new site., this setting controls the value you see ie. “Mr WordPress”..
Voila Enjoy !!!
All activities are showing up for registered users except for blog comments. I know blog comments are supposed to show up but it’s not working for me. I’ve tested multiple users and roles.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get comments from a blog post to show up in the activity stream the way they are supposed to?
This is all on a localhost install with the latest updates for both WordPress and BuddyPress and I’m using the BP Template Pack plugin.
FWIW, my settings are fine, I’ve also tried the default BP theme and comments I am referencing are all by registered users.
